I was delighted to find a 'new' Guisval Seat 131 in Menorca in 1993, never knew they were still in production today. That said it was still a common car there back then even if they were almost extinct in the UK by then.

God knows how they still survive but Guisval still make all their models in Alicante though you won't find their products in chain toy stores anymore. More likely in tobacconist and petrol stations. Ironically I don't think they currently produce their Seat 131 anymore though it wouldn't surprise me if that got reissued at some point. I still have a couple of them from the early 90s too when I'd go to Spain on holiday and spend all my saved pocket money on domestically produced diecast 😅

Oh yes. Guisval still make loads of their old castings and a couple of years back reissued many of their ones from the 1970s which they sell as "Reediciones". Every casting you see in my pics are brand new even if their QC belongs to a different era 😉😉

€30.00 each though 😳

Only for certain lines. The reediciones I bought which are in the pics above cost the equivalent of just 5 euros each when ordering directly from Guisval themselves. The newer RALLY series such as the Seat Ibiza, Golf and Escort etc were under 3 Euros each when bought from Norauto 😀😀

Back from a weekend away, now have a bit of sorting-out to do.....

IMG_5255.thumb.JPG.2d93ce22b02569ab4cb05d7bde477410.JPG

Finding that NOS Corgi stuff and being able to buy it (after the drama of the shop closing up before 3.30pm on Saturday and having to contact the owner to find out when he was due to open again) puts an end to a slightly annoying, occasionally repeated dream that I have. In it I stumble across a shop with a load of nice MIB/NOS diecasts but I always wake up or cannot buy them for some reason within the dream. And now I have managed to purchase them!

I'll PM those of you expressed interest.

More on them all in a bit......

Would anyone happen to have 4 tyres that would fit this Corgi Land Rover?

More info on this one please!

Yeh, somehow I totally missed out any explanation of the Politoys VW fastback! The seller was one I often buy from at the local toy fairs and see him in his Jensen Interceptor.

IMG_1224.thumb.JPG.838abba3c665442ea100afdf09441e26.JPG

It looks ropey in the pics, but actually displays well as they always say in the ebay listing

IMG_1225.thumb.JPG.4fb6ad55a22f7a42ae4978d35cefca55.JPG

Seems to have lost the rear lights

The bonnet/front boot/whatever is floppy and needs a prop. Has a treaded spare tyre.

Here with a Dinky Fastback for comparison (thanks @danthecapriman)

A bit smaller, does anyone know what scale the Dinky is @flat4alfa?

Politoys claims 1/43

Larger back window, does that denote a later version?

After that I was hooked and have picked up a load more here and there

No, both the Dinky and Politoys depict the earlier type 3., later ones have a more upright nose

image.jpeg.30da64c94027713ead6fcf2b4f4fe020.jpeg

I'd say the Dinky window is too small, and the Politoys is too big

Lovely find, very jealous! Would sit nicely next to the squareback

First batch of this weekend's purchases:

IMG_5257.thumb.JPG.ced9b6b1b663d8301ea30a2e00a30ab6.JPG

Visited a small independent toy shop, found some recent things I hadn't seen before.

IMG_5262.thumb.JPG.fdb8e1b8e06a0bc1780aca38396dacc9.JPG

IMG_5275.thumb.JPG.ac08be1ed17825b4fca99297ab45cc90.JPG

Le Mans Sprite was a new one to me, as a Corgi Junior at least. Came from an antiques centre, as did this rather larger thing:

IMG_5259.thumb.JPG.494d7cccdb82cfa1e2dc8924a64d5043.JPG

IMG_5258.thumb.JPG.11ac02771d55eb2a2d122f704021de80.JPG

Majorette Mercedes coach, with many opening flaps (engine cover opens too). Rear axle has a gone a bit squiffy, but I think the missing component is rattling around inside, maybe I can undertake some keyhole surgery through one of those openings?

IMG_5256.thumb.JPG.8c0a7777112e5c6831e9fc47b979ea82.JPG

Diddy 1/72 Pajero. They had various European cars for sale too, but none that appealed to me.

Onto the main find of the weekend:

IMG_5264.thumb.JPG.14a7fd338494bc1df8eee7afb4c2557c.JPG

Saw the circus set first of all, in the window of what I suppose was more of a retro/modern antiques shop. Imagined it to be a three-figure sum, but while I wandered off to get the sugar I forgot for my tea Mrs SL popped in and found out it was less than that. If that was all he'd had then I might not have bothered, but when I went in and saw the collection of Mazdas and Jaguars on the shelf I couldn't resist.

IMG_5263.thumb.JPG.20fe5c04612517ce59b7d463e3ab37eb.JPG

It was a decent price, certainly compared to those on eBay, but it was more than this!

IMG_5265.thumb.JPG.8de06be4228cd44955e0d36259919921.JPG

Doesn't seem like the inner plastic has ever been removed. It appears that everything that should be included is still there.

IMG_5268.thumb.JPG.5d7f8c660d0737a509bd8b1bff0936e2.JPG

Trapeze artist seems like a welcoming sort. Van has a tiny nick on the rear arch, but must have been like it since new.

IMG_5266.thumb.JPG.56ad9f68d0786a52f8fbe463c4ecba30.JPG

I looked at some listings and realised I hadn't checked to see if the base or sides were still present, but they were there and not pressed-out of the outer card.

IMG_5267.thumb.JPG.8daec8c732ed2f5a34a9679dbb7f7d8c.JPG

What it should look like.

The Mazda and Jaguar are rather nice too, lovely paintwork on the latter. I have a later black "Supercat" version of the latter, still boxed, but the older (original?) version is nicer. I shan't yet post photos so those due to receive theirs can enjoy them.

Ashleys was one of my favourite toy shops as a lad.

I remember seeing a Corgi Rocket electric set for sale there but no way could I or my family afford it.

£10.58 when the circus set was launched in 1978 is the equivalent of £56.68 in today's money - definitely not pocket money prices!

I used to have a Circus Jean Richard Land Rover & trailer.   He was a French actor who also owned circuses, themes parks & a zoo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Richard_(actor)

They are absolutely fantastic.

It’s always amazed me how stuff like that has managed to stay in that condition for so long without being opened and marked etc.

Tedi are good for new batches of Hot Wheels and sometimes Matchbox but I often trawl the Chinese bazaars looking for obscure off brand cheapos 😅

I always think of Yonezawa models as Diapet models.

Here's a few of the ones I have had over the years. As you will see they do not keep to a regular scale with smaller cars being produced in larger scales, whilst most are in a stated 1/40th.

Cloer up you can see that these have suffered from zinc pest.

Mazak rot/Zinc pest? Looks like it. That’s how the chassis on my old Hornby class 31 locomotive looked to begin with (the red Mini roof). Not long after it crumbled like the blue Mini.
