I've spent half the day going through mine and deciding what to keep, as I bought all the unclaimed stuff too.

Glad I did as I found a few things I'd not requested that were rather nice

This was the one I was most pleased to get I think, I do like a Mercury Cougar, and I hadn't seen one of these before

NSU really deserves a resto, will I ever do it? Maybe...

PXL_20241025_083628514.jpg

Most of the ones I put up on my sales thread this time were ones I’d kept in my own collection, which came from all sorts of places. I’d usually get them and keep the best condition ones, to replace any I already had but in worse condition.
Some of them I must have had 30 odd years, if not more.

I’m glad you guys have taken most of them to be honest as it means they’ll be safe and not smashed up or thrown away!

For once, I got out of work at a normal-ish time, so had a quick detour to Tesco to indulge in some Tat-Friday business for a change.

Like last weekend, they appear to be putting a small sprinkling of recent HW releases on top of the old stuff that they've had in for months. I had to grab the blue GTV as it's lovely,

IMG_20241025_153734.jpg.1574fec73f276bc18cc186e9f6930876.jpg

I was actually mega chuffed to find this one, its just so cool!

As mentioned on here before, the simulated encrusted salt on the tyres is a great touch.

IMG_20241025_153809.jpg.350d0cc69e818122464d039e2b4409d2.jpg

They had also just got in a fresh stock of older premiums, at a reduced price, so I finally got one of these,

Its a good little rendition of the Volvo brick, I like the colour, and yes it sits pretty low, but I'm an idiot who likes lowered cars so its all good.

Usual nice detailing front and rear,

I did have a Dinky Rekord coupe, pretty sure it went to someone on here? Possibly @FakeConcern?

That one didn't come to me. I now have three, a new repro Rekord and two original  Commodores one of which is currently stripped for paint. All of them came from toy fairs as part of my recent drive to own every Dinky eva!

Still not had time to look at my Danbox contents because reasons and I don't want to spoil the excitement by rushing it or doing it when too tired!

Staying for now, I didn't photograph the stuff I'm intending to pass on.

This came along with the resin encased Beetle the other day. Not a bad effort by Maisto at a 1303...

The one near me does, no new stock for a while though, still doing the mix with the blue Autozam and green TT. Our local Morrisons has just started doing them as well.

80s shonky casting around the gutter strikes again. Halfords have got a pretty decent range of colours on the shelf you can compare with the picture, and if you can find a car spares place, Holts have a pretty decent range too.

Both companies just sell X green or X red rather than an exact match such as Ford Peppermint Green or whatever

If you go to an automotive paint supplier they will mix you any colour in a touch up pot or an aerosol.

Yesterday I popped over to yam-yam land aka: Kingswinford to pick up some car floor mats. Whilst awaiting the seller I popped into a charity shoppe and promptly bought 3 x trackie bottoms (as I only have 1 good pair) and whilst rummaging through the toy car basket I found a Corgi Ocado van, it was mostly there condition wise but the rear axle had collapsed. As the body is screwed onto the base underneath, they are easy to take apart and repair. A box section on the base that holds the axle down had popped out of place, so clipping it back home made the axle go back into place and the thing rolled again;

20241026_165122.jpg.19a07e424b8b4832d22587f20cc4d1cf.jpg

It didn't come with a box, the box in the picture above contains my an Ocado van I bought online after seeing one in @Imhotep's home.

My boxed one is on the left, charity shoppe bought one on the right.

Some more stuff on the shelf:

I had a few hours  to kill in Southampton this week and decided to visit Beaulieu, bit of a waste of money to be honest £27 and I was in and out in an hour. Apart from the LSR stuff, which I saw in 1970 when it was in wooden sheds, the last time I went, there was nothing you wouldn’t see at the local Round Table show in the summer.

Anyway I spotted these in a display

E628F3C0-17F8-47C7-9AA8-9519E4D41666.jpeg.bcf97e8692a788a232b920cdbcbd6ac0.jpegC309275B-D587-49B6-B9AA-FBB04796F876.jpeg.a4081f33b6ee9a1e5ee6ac9de938365a.jpeg

The Range Rover is interesting because most “ Girls Toys” Barbie, Sandy etc were usually just generic of roaders or vans. And as fan of Corgi, I was pleasantly surprised to see something I’d never come across befor.

That Corgi Tourist set is new to me too

Oddly, the artwork shows an airside setting yet stating it is a portable Service Station.  So I just had as to look one up didn’t I…

IMG_0335.png.9b4ae16ad8660acef40c637f161d2ce2.png.338d4c007517fc82c37ccd7c9e03934e.pngIMG_0332.png.2edf7ef0f5c674d2b900209e01585394.png.ebfc898ae3d58a8da33e7060f8c0236c.pngIMG_0333.png.4726a9cd361a5ee624e8d125076a47e0.png.a713979882b763a9169636d2215203fb.pngIMG_0331.png.838076f52db3a15ed5d28c076e75f681.png.f5f3c60b641f5d99142e8c8245a5c7af.png

So it’s a carry case with insert for multiple cars

Cor!

No idea how long these were produced for but looking at the artwork cars and when the depicted pair of Vickers VC10 were on the BOAC fleet (1964-74) we can get some idea.

I like that artwork…  so how hard could it be to recreate the setting as a scale diorama?

What we need :

- Corgi 479 Commer Bus & TV Cameraman (1968-71)

- Corgi 226 Morris Mini-Minor (1960-68)

- Corgi 332 Lancia Fulvia Zagato (1967-70)

- Corgi Major 1137 Ford H Series & Trailer  (1965-70)

Got all of those here which is a start! So what else

- Some 1:43 figures including the excitable young lad loving the Lancia - perhaps it was the sound of the steel fizzing away

- two models of Vickers VC10

- one Bristol Freighter

I don’t think Corgi did aircraft?  But Dinky, Matchbox and others did…  resorting to Airfix 1:72 might be nearest

Or just call the whole thing off.

This one might well be my final custom job for a while. I’m going to have to start clearing everything up and packing away for the move next week.

But for now, this started off as an IXO Fiesta mk1. Nice little things really. I think the Vanguard’s one has a slight edge in terms of shape around the back end, but these are cheaper!

IMG_6302.jpeg.a3d762e6ebf64c462a327103c1add198.jpeg

Dusted on some etch primer then carefully cut the rear windows off of the single piece glazing unit. Then glued them into their openings.

IMG_6313.jpeg.895f1eee1132b42dac9c299abce560c7.jpeg

As you can probably guess by now I’m building it into a van!
Annoyingly the original windows don’t fit flush enough for my liking so I found some scrap plastic card and cut them to shape and glued them in on top of the original windows to fill them out a bit.

IMG_6314.jpeg.2c3171547ecd30b23327d950aabd48dd.jpeg

Then pick a colour! Ford midnight blue!
Apologies for the crappy lighting. It’s terrible down in the shed.
The bumpers come in black but for an early mk1 I wanted them chrome so I just used the Molotow pen. Interior has had the rear seat cut out and replaced by a plastic card flat floor section.

Nice job there! The IXO Fiesta is a good little casting, I think its just small details like the wipers are a bit clunky on the partwork editions. DeAgostini did a silver 1300 S version for a Greek partwork series (the one with the green Montego), and I've been hunting for one since. They're still available mail order from the publishers for less than 10 euros, but the 25 euro shipping charge kills it for me.

You're right about how surprisingly diminutive the Mk1 Fiesta is in model form. The Vanguards Supersport I have is dwarfed by the other Fords in the cabinet!

Hmm, I’ve not come across that Greek partwork one yet. The one I’ve started with here is just the standard black version. Some nice detail painted on its seats with the stripes some of them had. Of course mine being a van it wouldn’t have had them so I begrudgingly painted them out!

Ive got a couple of other black IXO ones ‘in stock’ for repaints, one will probably become the R reg early one someone I used to work with had. Not sure about the other though.

The only things likely to be smaller and lighter models are probably Mini’s and the Fiat 500. I’ve got a few Mini’s tucked away of various types (including two vans), but don’t have the Fiat.
