If you happened to see a 1/43 Renault Laguna Mk2 Estate, preferably in dark blue,at £20 or under,I'd be very grateful if you could pick it up for me 😁

Sure thing. Will look about this summer.

Out here in France for a bit. Found this thread fascinating not one I usually follow (it's rained here continually for a week so I'm passing the time indoors). 🌧️🌧️🌧️

Any particularly interesting, valuable or rare foreign model vehicles I should look out for - always seems loads and loads on sale at the typical 'jour de fete' you get on in the villages of a weekend (when the rain stops).🌥️

If anyone is particularly after something rare happy to have a look for you too.👍

If you are really up for it, I'm always on the lookout for any models of Citroen C4 Coupes particularly 1/43 such as by Norev.

I paid (I think) £18 for one of these so anything less than that is good.

I'd really like some of the different versions, mainly the VTS (I've owned three in 1/1 scale) like this

However I can see this getting expensive for you with various people asking you to pick up stuff so no pressure haha.

Any older Majorette diecast from the 1980s or 1970s, any French Dinkys, old plastic Norevs then I would be interested!

Posted

I've quite a few 70's majorettes in the plastic boxes from the 70's purchased in & around Skegness.

On the subject of pastiche old shite of no real value, this has just turned up on my doorstep:

IMG_20240620_084000.jpg.f28f567bd7493f4be0ce4d585e85f57f.jpg

Despite what's depicted, that's not what's inside (this manufacturer used the same box with different labels on, to begin with).

No, it's far more modern*:

Apols for the sub par photo - I seriously hate the quality of this new phone, though aforementioned pangs of guilt re: smashing stuff up means I'll persevere with it until it breaks itself. I accidentally cracked the screen within a couple of weeks of ownership, so it's partly on the way...

Middle aged luddite rant over, it's a RAMI Hispano Suiza J12, found on Trademe going for buttons. I'd not heard of the brand but apparently it existed 1960-69 and modelled cars from a French museum collection. I liked the idea that you could go to a museum back in the day and buy miniature replicas of the exhibits but it seems they were inspirations for the castings, not direct copies. The monsieurs missed a trick there, personally.

IMG_20240620_084134.jpg.9eb66710179125a0e38e7414f4ddc285.jpg

Anyway, it's a quaint old thing and is quite heftily cast - much more substantial in the hand than a Model of Yesteryear. Hubs are plastic but do a good impression of being chromed metal. The 1/43 scale is doing a lot of heavy lifting, as it's quite compact. More 1/55, at a guess.

Because it's French, that makes it well exotic, so I reckon it was not too shabby for £8.50 delivered, after a bit of a last minute bidding war.

I sold this about a year ago...

The detail makes a MoY look like a highly detailed master piece.

A bit of paint flake on the base.

The stamp on my box must have been done on a Friday afternoon.

Also had this SPA.

When I auctioned these Rami models I was surprised that they attracted bids at all, but the seem to have a following.

I definitely won't be adding to the collection, as I'm pretty sure that most of the other models cast are of much older cars and racing cars, both of which don't interest me.

But I often sense when something has a bit of age and a quick Wiki check confirmed it's 50-60 years old, so thought it worth a stab for mere curio value.

I reckon I'll add a gaudily coloured MOY to my collection in good time, mostly as it's the 60's diecast equivalent of nailing a sheet of hardboard over a Victorian solid wood door - just so of its time.

The “you probably didn’t see/ get these”

Unpacked ones are sitting on my desk. I currently don’t have the display space for the ones still in boxes, so it seemed a bit silly to open them up, risk damage, just to put them back in a bigger box with the others until I build the display space.

All totally new to me! That SPA is such a gorgeous car, and the model is actually pretty neat. I'd definitely have one of those if I saw one. The Malartre Museum is still there, although I've no idea if that Hispano is still a resident.

Huge thanks to @andrew e for this from the @Datsuncog roffle.  My first new Corgi in around three decades and what a fantastic thing it is. 20240620_153923.jpg.64eb14280aa9c0320782e07045b6c80b.jpg20240620_154051.jpg.06e247dbfa01c24f012da1f02b22e3ed.jpg20240620_154145.jpg.685972bbcdc4a709b4ca86f24eaa3447.jpg20240620_154151.jpg.872d36bc7c2b453503cf6f2269ebb836.jpg

Since buying a real 5 Series a few weeks ago I had to have a model of it.

The £150 1/18 Kyosho one was a bit out of reach, which is a shame as its an SE like mine and not a sporty one. It was also the right colour. However this Siku one from 2010 was more like it though, again it's good to see it's a non sporty model, even if it says its a 545i.

I know some of you dislike newer Sikus but this one is from 2010 and I think its a bit better than examples from 10 years earlier.

I did manage to find this white 1/18 Kyosho M5 though. It used to be a safety car but has had the tampos removed. With just a couple of tiny paint blemishes and no box (which is just another thing to have to store anyway) it was £42 posted which is decent for a Kyosho.

It's a while since I've tried to take pictures of smol cars and my phone camera  hasn't improved in the intervening period.

There is actually a Norev 3 inch of your 5 series but it is quite rare.

I remember having a Kyosho catalogue as a kid and spending hours browsing it hoping to own one one day, but I'm yet to take the plunge.

Posted

Kyoshos weren't too outrageously priced about 20 years or so ago but they are just silly money now.

Quite saddened that nobody (as far as I'm aware) has ever 1:18d an E39.

If you have good eyesight (and can visualise the various potato shapes in the image below), you'll see one residing on my garage floor yesterday:

I'm currently tidying up my garage, which basically consists of moving loads of worthless tut about the place, rather than biffing it out, like I should be doing.

But what it did actually achieve was to FINALLY get all my diecasts in one place, rather than squirreled away in various nooks in the house. The only ones in the domestic space are a select few on the living room book shelf, but I have a long term plan for a (secret) diecast display in the garage at some point.

I did manage to repatriate some 1/43s with their boxes in the process:

IMG_20240620_150817.jpg.3c69e5fbffb87ef806530f30280f5888.jpg

Again, sorry for crappy phone pic. Have I mentioned I hate it's image quality?

This one's a but better, admittedly. Incidentally, that Gama 411 LE is my joint favourite 1/43, along with my Novoexport Volga airport control car, seen at bottom right of the above image. The green Lada wagon is a close contender, too.
