The plot thickens. It seems you could get a 373 with white base and teledials

Many thanks to @FakeConcern for sending me a spares Fiat 124.

20231202_182509.thumb.jpg.426d220cc015a273b98c48e9ac29a2eb.jpg

I dug my blue one out the loft, it hasn't seen light of day for about 30 years. It's a shame it's too far gone as it would have made a great shelf buddy for my Fiat 131 which is in the same 'OLIOFIAT'  livery this wore originally.

Crucially,  the roof on the white one is intact and the axles are straight. It also has an intact windscreen, the one on the blue one is made from some kind of food packaging. The white one also has its original grille, the blue one has a balsa wood replacement (LOL). So I decided to go with the white one.

The bonnet on the blue one has a small chip at the corner and was badly glued onto the hinge. The bonnet was missing completely on the white one.

So here it is now with the bonnet re glued to the new car, waiting for it to dry. I'll repair the corner and spray it black to match the boot lid.

I'm right pleased with this !

Thanks!

I have been in there and Mrs Concern has bought a few bits, I did see a Dinky Jensen FF that I didn't buy, but wished I had! Nice to see more tat is appearing in there all the time

This thread really is making me feel like I'm about 13 again!

The sort of conversations I had with my mates then

Where did you get that?

Oh yeh I've been there...

I need some wheels

Oh yeh Eddy has some...

Can you pick up a (whateva model) when your go there again

No problem

I see Dan's been painting up that Cortina looks good

Yeh I want one now...

I love seeing all the projects and thanks @Split_Pin showing the FIAT progress.

When I was that age it was mostly plastic kits, 1/32 Airfix cars and 1/72 planes plus some 1/48 planes, can't recal the make.

Several of my mates would come around to my house and we'd make our kits together. My dad had got me a nice desk with an Anglepoise lamp, my mum would bring us tea and biscuits, we had it all laid on with liquid cement and Humbrol, rat tail files, emery boards, no expense spared haha!

Now I have been sitting in the same sort of setting with Mrs Concern, but while I'm working on the toy cars, she's doing a snow scene diorama and a Judy Garland trolly song model!

This is our workshop

IMG_8388.thumb.JPG.a2cf3dbc9842944c0a87a4c85fe3ed5c.JPG

My longest ongoing project the childhood Elan which had the body broken completely at the front wheelarches is finally done

IMG_8386.thumb.JPG.eca01db156590cb68b4d856efe39c9cc.JPG

For some reason the young me had fitted wire wheels on the front and the original cast wheels on the back so I put wires on the back too. The original roof had the screen and some of the rear pillars missing so I modified it into a hood

IMG_8387.thumb.JPG.d28f9f1a787199437f6f8d2c2ae93756.JPG

A bit clumsy but will do for now...

That Elan looks brilliant @FakeConcern great you’ve had it so long too.
Likewise, @Split_Pin, Fiat looks great. It’s nice that your old original one has survived and still donated good bits to make up a good car.

Heres another of my projects part way through.
I’ve barely done much the last few days though as it’s been so bloody cold!

IMG_2940.thumb.jpeg.b06fc79008891d68ef4d4b84024c442f.jpeg

Bond partwork Plymouth Savoy. Was a black taxi. The roof and window frame bit is a completely separate plastic piece. It’s obviously not pushed down into place fully yet as the gold paint is still quite fresh.
The top of the roof needs masking off and the sides/window frames need spraying in body colour.

I'll keep an eye out for something in my parts box. I've done the odd 1:43 kit, or there could be a sidelight or similar from a larger scale kit.

You'll be wanting to glue it in with some sort of PVA/wood glue - poly cement or super glue will fog it.

Black Friday deal. Triple9 Audi 100 C3 2,3E. I’ve could have gone for some fancy paint and alloys but oh no . Instead I’ve gone for the plain white with poverty caps. Just the way my parts car would have looked like if it wasn’t for a set of Ford RS-wheels.

There is a Guisal Seat 131 in the Sussex Beacons charity shop in Brighton; quite good condition other than an unfortunate permanent marker paint job. I hesitantly passed on it when the clerk asked for £2.

Inspired by the talk of Midland Bank mobile branches a couple of weeks ago, I dug out this Leyland National and turned it into a might-have-been JHV 611N. I think I got it from someone on here some years ago and aptly it was a United bus with a Whitby destination as that's where JHV was based. The real one disappeared without trace but its sister got converted into a bus so my story is that the same happened to JHV: it went through the local auction, was bought by Quicksilver and fitted out as a school bus.

I use Humbrol Clear Fix for windows, lamp lenses and anything else that might be sensitive to super glue.

It's another 3D printed Metro, this time a 3-door Rover 100. I guess that's the beauty of 3D printing; it's easy to produce different variants by altering the drawing.

The three best Rover Group colours: Polynesian, Nightfire and Amaranth. Why can't modern cars come in fantastic shades like these?

If you were to describe 1997 in a colour it would be purple. It was the ‘in’ colour. You could even get a purple Mondeo.

How do you get all the transfers? I’d love to do a replica Mainline bus but no idea how to do the decals

I made them myself. You can buy waterslide transfer paper for inkjet and laser printers, then use the graphics program of your choice to design the decals.

Remember ‘Amaranth’ ?

Crikey. That is of its time

I can’t remember what I just went upstairs for, but I can remember the name and the shimmering effect from that Rover colour…

But I’m better now.

That means me, and I mean you too

So teach me now that things can only get purple

They can only get, they only get, take it on from here

The Audi 100 had 4x108 PCD until 1991.

I had a 1989 B2 Coupe years ago and went to get a spare Ronal wheel for it from a local VW/Audi breakers...

...only to find that the wheel wouldn't fit as the PCD was different.

Who wants to see some of the 2024 Hot Wheels releases?

Vespa - obviously miles out scale wise but looks great for customising

Civic custom in new colours - still think the green and orange ones look great

I'm a bit torn on this one - a Hot Wheelsed Pontiac Aztec is pretty funny, especially with Walter White's hat and glasses on the parcel shelf - but I'd rather have seen this done by Matchbox as a realistic road car

This is going to be great though - Hirohata Mercury is an infamous custom, as has been made so the two tone paint can be recreated properly. This is in prototype form here

Another prototype, MK1 Jag. This one will also lend itself well to a bit of customising I reckon

The coupe clip now has a Porsche 911 version joining the fold. Will Porsche owners be scouring eBay wanting them? Maybe. I like it

No just kidding, a few Audi models like 80, 90 and 100 C2 & C3 uses 4x108.

What do you do when there's a slight dusting of snow on a cold Sunday?

Well you go in the garden, and play with your toys in the snow chaos obviously.

Oi you Scammel, you should be at the back helping the poor AMC.

Pah poxy AMC!

Keep up at the back!

Breaker breaker one-nine, this here’s the Rubber Duck! We got us a convoy.

SnoChaos(2)small.thumb.jpg.4d6424c687ce2536626062b057359400.jpg

Popped in at the Castle tea room for a nice cuppa, because the chap in the Jeepster was feeling a tad cold.

SnoChaos(5).thumb.jpg.5316fb0f9560f28105f8209d9eef87e8.jpg

How did you get down there?

I used mi winch innit.

How in the flip?

Careful now around those leaves they could be slippy.

SnoChaos(6).thumb.jpg.2ae7f584b69c9f47fbd7a66c4381f951.jpg

Just picked some furniture from Ikea and had to rent a U Haul. Because some one chopped me up into a pickup, what a spanner.

Also The Flying Scotsman went by the bottom of the Garden when I was messing about with toys so that was nice to see, hear and smell.

Edit Wow they are low resolution. Edit 2 they may be slightly better now.

No Brighton Marina boot fair for us today as pissing it down, Polegate Toy Fair instead!

Mrs Concern spent a small fortune on scenery making stuff so obviously I had free rein...

IMG_8389.thumb.JPG.4168e6789cc71b460e4f41ab1650eea6.JPG

The first stall had a nice Dinky Crapi, well fairly good paint and missing a door trim, tyres and seat backs plus bent axles but still £2 sounded good to me, also got the Westminster for £5 which was much less than I've ever seen them before

IMG_8390.thumb.JPG.3e966ed73eef4d0657162bc09e013e36.JPG

An A105 was the first car I went over 100mph in, my dad driving on the Thanet Way

IMG_8391.thumb.JPG.587c8105360d9e980262e0c9def5835e.JPG

I had thought I might swap the parts on my childhood Crapi into the body of this one

IMG_8401.thumb.JPG.81997c1fff60836d7f28cd2144b23e41.JPG

As you can see the young me cut a sunroof into mine, however I think I'll get the parts for the new one from Steve Flowers and have two, they are so nice!

IMG_8402.thumb.JPG.564a764482fe780b37aebe06c7d0a10e.JPG

Next I bought a pretty fucked up Corgi Whizzwheels Lazy Bones Stingray for parts £1.

Next up I got four various priced Corgis which were priced at £20, but knocked him down to £15 which was ok

I've fancied a Simca for a while, I have four blue Mini Minors already, but you can't have too many, not sure why I got the Corgi TR3, I already have a nice TR2 from childhood. The Bond Aston is for parts as when restoring Mrs Concerns childhood one, the seat spring pinged away never to be seen again!

IMG_8394.thumb.JPG.4d24f51d5f0ba1afc13e103accc2aa6e.JPG

The Simca is a lovely shape, shame it's that chrome finish, I don't understand why Corgi did quite a few of these unrealistic cars when they could have done this finish on the Lotus XI and looked good

1956-lotus-eleven-le-mans-series-i-front

Never mind I like the Simca anyway

IMG_8395.thumb.JPG.543ac6503a178adeb083253570515a8e.JPG

Spotted this broken Carrimore Transporter trailer and got it for 50p

IMG_8396.thumb.JPG.2d8579410c66edfd57c3902badc307f2.JPG

It is pretty fucked

IMG_8397.thumb.JPG.217a3ae653a003a71a8c162058ff06c7.JPG

It does have tyres though and the hitch mechanism and he threw in the Matchbox Super Kings trailer for nothing, result!

Any good @eddyramrod

IMG_8398.thumb.JPG.c367585a36717a23dca94bebf10b6217.JPG

Having looked all around I went back to look again and on the stall where I bought the Crapi and Westy I bought this Austin Somerset, I don't usually get toys even older than I am, but this was only £2 and I did see loads of them around when I was a kid. This is the first toy one I've seen though.

IMG_8392.thumb.JPG.637917e65025c06e1a8f18dfc2f135ab.JPG

The seller had noticed I had a look at the Dinky Bentley S2 and gave it to me for free with the Austin!

IMG_8393.thumb.JPG.2ef89800a901ca9ae1aa307eef086778.JPG

Last as I had money still burning a hole in my pocket and after all those pretty good buys I blew My credibility completely by paying £15 for a toy I never liked much anyway. Knocked him down from £20, but still much too dear so not sure why I did it haha!

IMG_8399.thumb.JPG.cbee390de74ac412b95bffa9cb1686cd.JPG

Always thought Corgi Minis look much better

IMG_8400.thumb.JPG.96c70a184139be4089d60ad96f17f758.JPG

I also bought a load of tyres I need for some ongoing projects and that's it. Worked out at about £3.40 a vehicle so not too extravagant I suppose.
