That's a right Bobby Dazzler.

Right right right... So this morning I was mostly done with editing the photos from the first pass of the stalls, and had only a few tepid dregs of coffee left, when through the coffee shop window I noticed a flash of red on the pavement outside...

Traffic warden.

And it occurred to me that this may pose a problem, as I'd parked on the street outside in a valiant but doomed attempt to beat The Nemesis and score myself a minute or three of additional tat-hunting time - which I wouldn't have got if I'd parked in the Cromac St car park over on the far side.

But - was the on-street parking in Oxford St one hour max stay, or two hours max stay?

To tell you the truth, in all the excitement I'd kinda lost track.

But I'd definitely spent more than an hour in the market. About half of that was helping Nemesis find the missing headlight for his Cragstan plastic vintage roadster.

All of a tizz I pelted out, no doubt trailing scone crumbs in my wake, to see how things stood.

How they stood was that I was blocked in by a double-parked truck unloading potatoes, with the warden working his way down the row of cars, checking the number plates.

Graaah.

I managed to squeeze my way out of the space before the Red Peril arrived, and then motored on over to the other side of town to Cityside.

I had a sneaking suspicion that the big Poundland store over there might be a better spot for those Q-case Hot Wheels that continued to elude me.

(This was the same store that mistakenly priced a load of Matchbox for 50p earlier in the year.)

And I was right.

IMG_20231201_0955112.thumb.jpg.5169e01bab5c464b01849ed71196fe80.jpg

G'wan, ya boy ya.

IMG_20231201_1158182.thumb.jpg.3db029771dbef91e4b6de0c899b6d693.jpg

Finally.

Not 50p each, but not bad value overall.

That's me happy.

No Protons, but then I think they're in the later 2024 case, no?

They also had some of the newer case Matchbox, though not very many - and no Volvo 240s to be seen. This time.

IMG_20231201_0955022.thumb.jpg.8c9a21ce08a6edad0ea98a049719e1f0.jpg

Then I went back to the car, and realised there were a load of requests for the market stall... daah.

So Market Blokey did inform me that he'd have some more rummage boxes next week - he's not wild keen on them, presumably as they're low-value, low-profit - so I'll have a look for the pink HW truck for @bunglebus and the yellow Majo 4Runner for @Spottedlaurel; not to mention the (hopefully complete) set of plastic ships for @FakeConcern.

I'm a bit unsure what the pricing structure was this week - boxed stuff was advertised as £2, and I asked about the Tat Box items and was advised that they were "ehhh... not much", which my skinflint ears had picked up as maybe 50p, more likely £1.

So, I'm not entirely sure how these worked out as £10 the lot:

IMG_20231201_0837102.thumb.jpg.dc8813d8472a86abd9be33dea192cd31.jpg

IMG_20231201_0836572.thumb.jpg.cc175fa1c0dfb0921fb454f2db9b544d.jpg

IMG_20231201_0836042.thumb.jpg.b5f14688c7df0f2e2ffcd8aea03e136e.jpg

The Vitesse UPS van was in with the £2 stuff, so I can only presume the other loose items were also £2 a go.

Well, okay. I probably should have tried haggling, as I thought this looked rather more like a fiver's worth - but hey.

I mean, the clean Superfast Mercury Villager and the minty Corgi Transit are probably not massively overpriced at two quid; the Jag peelermobile is a bit worn but generally ok. The Hot Wheels Dodge van is one I owned but sold on, unopened, a few years back - and I was just idly thinking the other day that I should try to find another. So it kinda fell into my lap, so to speak.

But - so it goes.

Right now, I'm keeping the Hot Wheels - but the UPS van, both Corgis and the Lesney Mercury are up for grabs at the £2 paid.

But equally, I won't be sad to keep them...

IMG_20231201_1201142.thumb.jpg.2c559108acb8da0cd4a512e63cf9eb59.jpg

And I think that's about it, as the last of the light fades from the frosty December skies... dawn to dusk tat.

Happy Friday to you all, kids.

Bloody hell! All very cool, but the 2 door MG!! Nice.
I knew about the Ozzy Freeway versions but didn’t realise they did them similarly in Argentina too.

Theres a few weird makes I’ve discovered from these partwork collections recently.
One I found funny was (I think!) a Chinese car called a Dong!😆

In the meantime, I bought Corgi Volkswagens.

First of all one of the bigger GP Buggies, really just because of the intact surfboards. I really must look into getting some of these parts scanned and 3D printed

Here are some of the new bits I acquired while north of the border

Green MGB is another of the "missing" colours from a previous mix

20231201_142945.thumb.jpg.ff14a9386b5429eefa6c0ba9175f29a0.jpg

Recoloured Max Steel. I need to give one of these a bit of a going over at some point in the future, very 32 Ford Roadster

20231201_142340.thumb.jpg.1539fbef0d3c7274f6ee0e92311642fe.jpg

Recoloured 'cuda wears a brand new style of wheel (that doesn't really suit it IMO)

20231201_142242.thumb.jpg.e660ca409f64464927895402462aac22.jpg

Another recolour, but a great one - T2 looks excellent in VW livery

20231201_142120.thumb.jpg.ea10d387bf50b7fd8037801d81ecf241.jpg

Guess what - another new colour! However the X-pack RS2000 is such a great casting I'll happily buy it every time

20231201_141958.thumb.jpg.e85f5239bb00a3e05740a44027905625.jpg

Fiat 500 is another one with a new coat of paint - saw a real one that looked very similar recently

20231201_141852.thumb.jpg.8d68b903b5fed952719c46cdda6138dd.jpg

Very green Pinkwood Corvette

20231201_141808.thumb.jpg.b62e27347b85288e3841d9cb2f8e48bf.jpg

Now this is the one everyone's been looking forward too, never thought I'd see a Proton Hot Wheels. My only criticism is I wish they'd done front/rear tampos and left the sides plain instead

20231201_141540.thumb.jpg.4811ee446e11a32a45606b50b6475621.jpg20231201_141605.thumb.jpg.7961ff9fb63373d88203a2a6b3d3f3cc.jpg20231201_141609.thumb.jpg.3ec6323e96ceccf117aedb760468e807.jpg

D100 returns in green

20231201_141107.thumb.jpg.26da3a944bb1257eb112d964080cd401.jpg

Talking of tampos, this one seems to break the rules as it has front side and rear detail

20231201_140938.thumb.jpg.be9712da8a2ea105052d785f4d2e727f.jpg20231201_141014.thumb.jpg.3a636e86614d67ca3b91e7ce536e7b98.jpg20231201_141005.thumb.jpg.f812bef88353a82a11b0e7209fbc066f.jpg

I can't remember if I've ever picked up a Humvee before - this has the first official use I've seen of the slightly jarring term "Hot Wheel" used to refer to one car on it

20231201_140747.thumb.jpg.9ee93854a5225eb5e802fcb1ae9de0ab.jpg20231201_140821.thumb.jpg.94b811da24ba488997cfcb6195191972.jpg

This one was the winner of the last Hot Wheels Legends tour, not as exciting as the P1800 gasser to me but quite a funky little thing all the same

20231201_140617.thumb.jpg.71ec9358693c712536871cfd1cf69207.jpg20231201_140650.thumb.jpg.9c22b90e8113b924c125cbe13282f3ce.jpg

While Barbie wasn't looking, Ken attacked his Corvette with the rattle cans

20231201_140422.thumb.jpg.4c6fe8b7e284d8c31fd77ab12de2ec52.jpg20231201_140443.thumb.jpg.3aef46a7d9fb47f7b24ef91e9f04b452.jpg

I'm not quite sold on the treatment the GT40 has been given - it looks great on the card but the gaps in the tampo on the hood look a bit strange to me

20231201_140319.thumb.jpg.b73dfd2455889ddf171bf9d47e866849.jpg20231201_140338.thumb.jpg.6522cf4d2b06e8fcd31fd8ad17533f4a.jpg

Corvette looks clean in white

20231201_140215.thumb.jpg.6d25fd76d940dcd554e394775c70513c.jpg

Now this I really like. Very purple Skyline

20231201_140115.thumb.jpg.a7aaa35dd1c4956b1338a2ab365b5fdc.jpg20231201_140133.thumb.jpg.4799c483a960d40d4367b13480f83d0d.jpg20231201_140143.thumb.jpg.ff51dbd6348b31d0ccf36ffd8fa2aefb.jpg

Mighty K is back again

20231201_140010.thumb.jpg.95df5a13a1decb05e8f70ed36ae6839b.jpg

As is the El Segundo Coupé

20231201_135852.thumb.jpg.ff73157c09c8aa98d64d9bdb22abb32a.jpg

Another really fine looking JDM - could almost be a Super at a glance

20231201_135749.thumb.jpg.1dd8cbdc16e40f69bb6d81389b5c22b7.jpg20231201_135816.thumb.jpg.d135982221d6d15ade1a53f8447d41fd.jpg

Lastly, a 'cycle for my mate who likes things with the wrong number of wheels

Inevitable, traditional "must buy a toy car while I'm in Brighton", and this time it's the Matchbox SD1 with working sunroof.

Not as accurately proportioned as the Corgi, but a lovely colour. Not too extortionate at TWO PAHNDS, I felt.

@RoadworkUK would you mind telling me where in Brighton you bought the SD1? I'm interested in case it's somewhere I don't know about!

I like those SD1, I still have my childhood one, it’s battered as fuck but accurately represents how I remember them. I don’t know if I’m a completely sad bastard here but I’d have a few favourites that I always had as ‘my car’ when I spent hours on the living room floor recreating a scrapyard with my old crocks.

Unfortunately it's a repaint based on another white one. Oh well

Are you sure that's a repaint, those Polizei Whizzwheels do exist. It could be it is just the base that has been painted.

Ah OK - it did look to have been done too well for an amateur job - but the base has definitely been off

Looks like some one has put the body of a Corgi 373 Police Beetle on the base of a Corgi 383 Orange Beetle.

Wheel swap time then! Unfortunately I think the market in the teledial wheels has been cornered...

I've got some teledials, which size do you want?

A little while ago I dusted all my cars, grouped them by maker, photographed them and made an ebay listingfor the whole lot. I put a very optimistic price on, thinking that there would be a very small chance anybody would buy them but, if they did, I'd be rewarded with a decent chunk of cash (which frankly would be much more helpful to me at the moment than a load of old toys). Still, I pressed 'save for later' and just haven't had the guts to go live with the listing. Why is that? I have the collector gene for sure, but I don't have any emotional attachment to these things and I don't feel they particularly enrich my life in the way some of my other collections (records and books) do. Perhaps it's because I feel I haven't 'completed' it yet - maybe if I got hold of one of every single Politoys M-series cars I could relax and flog the whole lot on, but as it stands it annoys me that I have such an imcomplete selection.

Anyway, I bought some more instead of selling them all.

Yes, it's the Politoys M no.587, Lamborghini Espada and Politoys Export no.562 Ferrari 330GTC!

The Lambo is lovely. Quite a late casting but with all the high-quality goodies you'd expect from an M-series car. These are particularly difficult to find in this condition, as the rear opening hatch is incredibly delicate and is almost always missing. Great colour for a 70s supercar, too.

The Ferrari is also not an easy one to find in any condition. This one is very nice apart from the missing eye - anyone have a donor which might fit? I suspect something from a Matchbox Dinky 1:43 might work? As with other Export range cars this has an unpainted metal base, which makes this silver version the best one to have I reckon as the unpainted valances aren't so jarring. Otherwise it's pretty nice, although definitely not as crisp as earlier Politoys with a few casting lines and flash, etc, but the shape is accurate and it retains things like the tiny cast-in badge on the boot. Very nice, but these have literally pushed me to breaking point on display space so they're just rolling round my desk at the moment. ho hum.

If it's just a jewel look for rhinestones on eBay - loads of sizes and colours available

No, it's a clear plastic lens

Got to be something with similar parts, model kit or one of the cheap but fairly detailed models.

Can you measure the diameter of it?

Think I'm confusing myself - it has teledials but should have the RoStyle type ones, which I have in stock. Are teledials still needed by anyone?
