We were all well past being cured even before Tat Friday existed....

I was beyond being cured before most of you were born!  And I wouldn't want to be cured, from something that brings me so much joy.

Plenty of choice looking around Cologne...

Smyths had a bin full of regular Hot Wheels

Plus Mystery Models, desirable ones were gone already

We rarely see twin packs in the UK - all appeared to be regular Mainline cars

A few different premium lines too

The rest were all found in department stores

No sign of that one

Any sign of a Volvo 240 over there?

No, latest mix was the one I chanced upon in Entertainer a month or so ago

Mrs Concern had her birthday last week and I didn't miss the opportunity to get her some more die cast shite for the summerhouse.

IMG_7558.thumb.JPG.266296621f5cedb43a63e519cb488198.JPG

I’ve already mentioned the Monkeemobile, not strictly fitting the summerhouse, but something she wanted as a kid. It now has a Mickey Dolenz sitting in the back seat too.

I got the Dinky Healey boat on ebay quite cheap as it has no screen. I was a bit annoyed as I could have got an immaculate one, but Mrs Concern saw it and forbade me to spend so much on it, I do get it really, but a better one would have been nice. She didn’t know about the Strada (sorry Ritmo) with the two kayaks until she got them on her birthday. Lovely models the Majorettes.

A few pages back someone posted a pic of their purchases this year which included a caravan behind a Corgi Hunter. Mrs Concern was looking over my shoulder and spotted it as one she didn’t have and next thing I know she’d worked out it’s a Majorette 1/36 scale and bought one on ebay! Here it is in the overflow shelf waiting with other models to be allocated a space.

IMG_7575.thumb.JPG.f6a8623085d3244c5681039aec402e02.JPG

It has lovely details like the opening window though which you can see the table laid for dinner!

IMG_7576.thumb.JPG.1923748031df1192bbcd8934a16f9733.JPG

We were in Hastings the other day and spotted a Dinky Sprite in a junk shop for £8, It looked like a repaint, but still nice.

IMG_7577.thumb.JPG.95f291c6956ffeb9fdda980b33fd0c6d.JPG

I offered £5 which they took and when I washed it, a load of gunk came off and it looks nice, not a repaint at all!

IMG_7578.thumb.JPG.e92aa2c7d0457088f1bd12f154a73e96.JPG

I fished out my Dinky MGB to compare.

IMG_7579.thumb.JPG.287bb15af8525afdf88ab7ca7267fe27.JPG

When I was a kid I thought all MGBs were either red or green so this was first repainted red and then green.

Now I think I’ll repaint it cream with red interior again

IMG_7580.thumb.JPG.21288cc9dc274d563f6a7cb2ec86d377.JPG

The Sprite is one I didn’t have as a kid, but it’s a cute little model.

Lastly, I'm hoping to do the "Fakes Firenza Free No Spot on or Lone Star Diecast Shite Sale. So bad even I don’t want them." this Friday probably about 8 o clock depending on when I get back from Tercanbury.

Edit; I've just checked and it was @Spottedlaurel who posted the Majorette caravan here

Yup, that Majorette caravan will sit nicely on the 1/36 campsite alongside one of Corgi's.

I picked one up a few days ago for @danthecapriman that was in The Entertainer.

Yes I remember that.  I'd already been in my local branch and found none, so I'll try again this week.  They say they get weekly deliveries.

The BMW up thread marked the end of the 2023 resto season for me, so this last model from my recent CogBox will be first in the Caustic next Spring. Enough paint loss on this Thames van to justify it.

You did a top job with the Bauer BMW - can't wait to see this one sorted next year!

Interesting to see that the waterslide transfers on the little Ford van seem to have been pretty poorly applied at the factory - not at all straight, and possibly torn just by the 'R' on one side.

Apparently decals like this were an absolute curse for the Lesney factory, with later adhesive paper versions slightly better but not much. On-body tampo printing from the mid-70s on was a bit of a game-changer.

Loads of Lesney era stickers ended up on the swap meet circuit when they folded in the 80’s. Therefore it’s difficult to attach value to oddities like a wildcat sticker applied as it is very likely a later fit.

I’ve got a Matchbox Superkings Peterbilt here (now packed away!) that’s missing it’s trailer. I like these but I was going to put it in my sales stock since it was incomplete. But having had a look at it I decided it still looked suitably good to do something with some day and even just leave it alone as a standalone tractor unit.

But, on one of my recent eBay browsing sessions I spotted this!

IMG_2578.thumb.jpeg.583fa21b880e5b8d54c254525074b6ad.jpeg

IMG_2579.thumb.jpeg.eefbef20f67c53be32b38848c0877b13.jpeg

It’s certainly not perfect, but it’s basically sound with all the major bits. Desperately needs a wash and the ladders fixing. But it’ll go perfectly with my Peterbilt cab.
I think this trailer had a Peterbilt from new, but mines one of the others that had a box trailer I think. Doesn’t matter though!

Roadblasters!

Matchbox Road Blasters ""Turbo Special" Mercury Police Car- blue ...

Kind of a Mad Max-lite crossed with Transformers conceptual range of vehicles with combat features, set in a post-apocalyptic future and made up of goodies (Turbo Force) vs. baddies (Motor Lords).

A cynic might say it was a cost-effective way of getting more life out of pensioned-off mainline castings acquired by Universal Toys in their 1983 buyout, as well as appealing to kids like my brother who were mad into anything with guns, but not so fussed on toy cars.

Hmm, I don’t remember ever having the plastic cover thingy! Maybe it was a boot sale buy or a hand me down. I’m sure I had another one too. Maybe it’ll turn up.
