Yes please.

Also @bunglebus I'd have lapped up those partwork cars, especially the 999 types.  If you see them again...

We'll be back in Yarmouth at some point over the weekend. Anything in particular?

How about a tin sign with really odd perspective?

Thank you, but I'll pass on that.  Anything with blue lights on the roof interests me though, I have a proven fetish for police cars.  Perhaps one of each type you can find?

It annoyed the life out of me because it was too big to fit in when playing with my 'small' cars, and too small to fit in with my 'big' cars.

Surreal.  I had the very same problem with it and it still bothers me even today!

This is why I have to pass it on.

It'll make my eyeballs itch otherwise...

Not sure if you're still after this one, @andy18s - but if you are, it's here!

If you don't... well, someone else is welcome to it. £1.69 paid.

And, after resisting for several months, I finally snapped and bought myself a Nissan Patrol.

I'm still watching too much Matt's Off Road Recovery on YouTube, I know.

But the flowerbeds are calling, and I must go...

Once again - Happy Friday, all!

I'm happy to take the Cub unless anyone else wants it.

Just found out Matchbox are doing a few bikes too...

I figured that somebody might want this down-at-heel Solido Clio.

And it turns out that somebody is @FakeConcern.

It's definitely seen better days...

But as it's only screwed together, I think this could be a fairly straightforward resto job. Bit of paint, bit of plasticard for the rear lights - done.

Wasn't this one from the tail end of the Hachette Century of Cars collection partwork?

Either way - it's yours for 50p, dude!

Then there's this...

I find it hard to leave cheap Corgi Whizzwheels behind.

Although the windshield and hood have gone AWOL, it's not in too bad shape.

50p takes this, if anyone fancies it!

There used to be a Liquid Yellow 16v on ClioSport so that's an idea...

They didn’t make them for very long, Superking sales were on the slide from  1992 onwards. I think anything after about 1994 was old stock.

Purchased today at the Enfield Pageant for £2.50, a 1:18 scale model of a Mercedes Benz 220SE.

Completely playworn and filthy, looks like a barn find.

The plan is to do nothing to it, leave it precisely how it is and enjoy the patina.

Another toyfair today, but a bit of a disappointment as not many stalls and over half were train stuff and the cars seemed to be mainly Vanguard type things and I'm determined not to get into them. (at least not yet!)

Mrs Concern bought a couple of waterline Minic ships and a seated figure to use in her Prisoner scene.

I got these

IMG_6915.thumb.JPG.b450e728c627d34256a78fc3a118d32e.JPG

Ok it is a Vanguard, but I didn't mean this kind! I really wanted the later one with faired in rear arches as I had a blue one when I was very young, but still like this and it's gone in the box for a makeover when I get round the the 50s cars I have.

IMG_6916.thumb.JPG.fe04a8bab2b76e61bfd31ae188b1f033.JPG

The Opel is such a nice looking car so for a couple of quid I couldn't leave it even though it's a repaint with horrible painted brown interior and glazing that looks like it's been etched!

IMG_6917.thumb.JPG.88ffb61aa4c6c47311573c5cef4e6177.JPG

I don't have any other Dinkys with a plastic base

IMG_6918.thumb.JPG.9672fc4c8b46623dad1597e5b5187c66.JPG

Not sure what colour I'll do it, I think it was blue with a black roof originally, like this

IMG_6928.thumb.JPG.392e27414f33953a49da75d041475fd8.JPG

I have a catalogue showing it green with black roof and bonnet, so it may end up like this

If it's any help, @FakeConcern, I would have bought both of those in a heartbeat, so don't kick yourself over them. :)

I decided the Bedford Tractor Unit with the transporter doesn't look good enough to display so I'm going to re paint it. I do have another with a slightly different casting, but with better paint so can decide which I'll use later. The transporter one has a Mini size tyre to hold the coupling

IMG_6920.thumb.JPG.40ee595d5c300fdaf6ae6607e814aa63.JPG

The other one has a number plate on the rear mudguard and a roof vent, bases are the same

IMG_6921.thumb.JPG.0d68171edf68401fea62f67eb1510749.JPG

IMG_6922.thumb.JPG.fd66743e1a07cda088ae404d9b5b076c.JPG

The coupling areas are quite different to each other

IMG_6923.thumb.JPG.12a8752f549be9095eba40650cbba86e.JPG

I have no idea where I got it from or what model it originally was

IMG_6924.thumb.JPG.ca1dd9802ef5309a8928eb26312f4b3a.JPG

It had the rear window cut out from new for some unknown reason

IMG_6925.thumb.JPG.d74181f75ce3a18faceba677663848a8.JPG

I've made a temp coupling for the wrong tractor unit while I restore the original and it looks pretty good

I've got the factory-patinated barn find version by Revell, but I think I prefer the patina on yours more!

And continuing the Solido Clio love-in, here's mine. Bought at the duty-free shop in Alicante airport in 1998. Most guys my age were shopping for fags & booze, I was picking through a shelf full of Solido diecasts....

IMG_20230528_003525.jpg

Not bad for what is a tarted up version of the standard valver release, although the Williams logos and Speedline alloys are pretty well done.

Finally got round to opening and examining the recently arrived CogBox. This actually arrived on Thursday when I was 430 miles away on my weekly Scotland run, the wife did inform me that "quite a large box" had arrived ...

IMG_20230527_130234.thumb.jpg.43958ebaa27c57fe3f94b7cc516ed623.jpg

Took some explaining, that's for sure!

IMG_20230527_130308.thumb.jpg.4725b3708346584bdaa88171318436d3.jpg

So, big 'uns first, starting with the Vanguards Jaaag XJ12.

IMG_20230527_130343.thumb.jpg.0cd7daacfe91e62e9dad6289230cde7e.jpg

A lovely model this, pleasingly from the era of the re released yellow boxes. Over 27 years of collecting Vanguards models, I've never had one of these XJs but when I saw that Market Blokey had this on the stall, I wanted it!

IMG_20230527_130708.thumb.jpg.5b6f2a05304868d503d360fb9bb88ed0.jpg

IMG_20230527_131153.thumb.jpg.d9936de7d8618097787f57cc5f555dc2.jpg

Such a beautiful shape, captured well. I adore the Series 1 & 2 XJ. Also such an unusual colour scheme, and, for some reason I can't fathom, I love the whitewalls on this. With those and the colour, it gives off an air of a 1980s flat-roof pub landlord's transport or a 1980s style budget-conscious wedding car. And all the better for it.

IMG_20230527_130806.thumb.jpg.86deed2c2c941247c4959a7ecf4464b3.jpg

IMG_20230527_131005.thumb.jpg.717f06e92d5ed9e5f7574878530b79cd.jpg

Nice detail to the front and rear, particularly the twin tailpipes which sprout out from the rear valance but are actually also part of the bumper moulding, so they can survive more than 5 seconds without snapping off.

IMG_20230527_131326.thumb.jpg.d8aa703e34c201dd3480f26776dea0d2.jpg

Was a pleasant surprise to see a simulated wooden dashboard in this, hardly any Vanguards of the period got detail like that. Love all the switchgear and the T-handle shifter, correct steering wheel, etc.

IMG_20230527_131208.thumb.jpg.aa1309ab4d7451c4f9a7f1d2edea0661.jpg

Very happy with this one!

IMG_20230527_131905.thumb.jpg.03bfa64f3e73a68f9928b9ccf3367acc.jpg

Second Vanguards of the day, sorry.

IMG_20230527_131955.thumb.jpg.f14df3485b82dba77fc5c48032d63676.jpg

Another subject I've never had before. I do like the little A40 Farina. Vanguards did a cracking job of capturing it, but the road versions tend to be surprisingly expensive, so this version of "Zoey", Pat Moss' Monte Carlo rally car will do nicely instead. I remember as a kid reading about this car being rescued and restored in the first issues of Practical Classics back in 1980.

IMG_20230527_132853.thumb.jpg.51f92fdfa1e83ae0e3e5f816e9caf5b7.jpg

IMG_20230527_132759.thumb.jpg.0d22315472c4138d6658164b78c37ffa.jpg

Plenty going on at the front with the rally plate and a couple of auxiliary lights...

IMG_20230527_132833.thumb.jpg.6a361b372c75567949ad02e78acb05b6.jpg

Rear wiper is a nice touch.

IMG_20230527_132928.thumb.jpg.a26998293bca493c94d9924696e810af.jpg

Liking the Sprite steelies as well. Got a few  Vanguards rally cars and love it when they put hubcap-less steelies on them.
