Got some Matchbox this morning. It’s been many years since I’ve bought any Matchbox cars but after seeing a few of the latest generation ones on here decided to get a few. You’re all bad influences!

Honda CVCC Civic.

And finally, my Chinese made Corgi Sierra arrived. It’s bloody nice too!

Lovely colour, very dark ink blue metallic. You can see the standard Corgi wheels on this one though. Shame they didn’t continue with the original Sierra wheels.

How/where did you get that? Checking my Poundland but they've mainly got Hot Wheels, not that I'm complaining - at least they have some cars

No, I found these ones in a local shop that do car parts, cleaning bits etc etc and do a few models. I’m not sure if they’re the very latest version of each car, but they’re all unopened. Although a few of the cards are slightly worn on the corners. Maybe they’re old stock or something?

I wasn't aware of teh Marx Bulldog range so had a quick look on the interwebs.

Marx started making track in the tin plate days with clockwork cars.

spacer.png

Then updated with plastic track in the 1960s

spacer.png

Then came the Instant Speedway

spacer.png

which they made a Walt Disney version of

PS Did you know they did a Beetle in the Bulldog range?

I couldn’t find any others at the same shop unfortunately. There was one of each on the shelf.

Nipped into Poundland earlier, loads of last-case Hot Wheels and MB Moving parts, but after rooting through them, found these three,

IMG_20221220_195237.thumb.jpg.debf42963107dbc60f6593449a10240e.jpg

Was glad to finally find this single coloured version. Some nice detailing on this one front and rear, though the solid glazing and no interior detail was a bit disappointing,

Picked these up earlier… the red Volvo isn’t my thing so happy to swap for a MK2 Escort? Pity the tampo is red as you can hardly see it!

Matchbox are bringing out a Volvo 240 next year. Happily it’s in standard spec... no jet engines poking out of the glovebox or 28 inch wheels on it...

This is a model of the Rover V8 that was developed by Bill Shaw from a 1966 factory development car. It was first used in rallycross but ended up in saloon car racing. The car was restored in 2014.

Postie man is working late tonight. I'm sure for most, the prize in the lot I bought is the large scale Corgi JPS Lotus (what scale are these?)

They were 1/18th scale. They also did a McLaren (No. 191). The wheels can be removed by undoing the wheel nuts. The originally came with a wheel brace to aid removal. A bit crude by todays standards, but they were state of the art at the time.

I do like a good Vauxhall /Opel model, since I got the Corsa four years ago (the Mrs has it now), I've tried to build up a collection. Made  a change from buying Vanguards Fords as well...

During lockdown, there was a bit of a glut of GM/Opel dealer packaged models on eBay, all at around a tenner and from decent manufacturers like Minichamps and Schuco. Even the Bulgarian Gama Corsa B remakes got another outing.  I'd been after a GSi for years but people wanted fortunes for them. £8 in dealer packaging? More like it,...

IMG_20200315_225313.thumb.jpg.cfc486f8e8e4665a6d58977d31f10d8c.jpg

IMG_20191005_144004.thumb.jpg.ceb316f1d8b48ed241f65a40f2131827.jpgGot this Corsa D as it was at least a similar shape to my E. Great model by Norev, normally there's can be found on eBay with silly price tags but snapped this up brand new for £8. RHD and Vauxhall branded too.

IMG_20200119_132939.thumb.jpg.2cba7a2f4e0816c91ec820f4014153c0.jpg

I've always loved the Astra Bertone coupé. Again for under a tenner, brand new.

IMG_20200215_200532.thumb.jpg.230c526ae916fc1d2a2d8bfcf2af6e3b.jpg

Less a dealer special, more a partwork job, but when Jumajo got these Kadett GT/Es in and were knocking them out for less than 9 euros, I didn't hesitate!

IMG_20200309_001955.thumb.jpg.e2bde4aacf5552fc305432ce4fad0269.jpg

The facelift Vectra OPC (VXR to us) by Minichamps is an absolute belter. Slight paintwork flaws on this one (not untypical with Minichamps), but still a lovely model.

IMG_20200309_002316.thumb.jpg.0410be07f3846f34202b80aa4c72597f.jpg

IMG_20200530_095212.thumb.jpg.a0a519045b71725578115c3c923688ca.jpg

The Schuco Senator and Monza are absolute stunners. The detail on these are unreal, especially as these set me back, yep, less than a tenner each.

IMG_20200606_093555.thumb.jpg.65476440ca2bd968a8ac81c8d29a4738.jpg

Having done plenty of miles in Vectra Bs in a previous life as a taxi driver, I had to have a model of one.

IMG_20200808_161922.thumb.jpg.cd7d5fd3a3100c5087820509b76c7062.jpg

The Schuco version is a pretty good one for its age, pleasingly this one is also a RHD Vauxhall branded version.

IMG_20201031_141337.thumb.jpg.b2d0be51e54804787ee40aa4c37a46e9.jpg

Having owned a couple of Astra G SXis (and being one of the minority who is a fan of them), I wanted a Schuco one for a while. However, these go for silly money, so it took me a while to get this one! Again, pleasingly a UK V-grille version.

IMG_20201031_141439.thumb.jpg.a0e0dfc8b6363ad4d52278291178957c.jpg

IMG_20210623_231042.thumb.jpg.4cff7eca8037f7976355736839346918.jpg

Not dealer models, but I love the Vanguards Mk3 Cavalier in turbo & GSi guise.

IMG_20221019_224318.jpg

One of my faves has to be this Minichamps Astra H, complete with presentation case, and a load of promotional material for Saab and Vauxhall for the CDTi/TiD engine.

IMG_20210807_115359.thumb.jpg.84910db471b8621cf2ebf5c5a377f338.jpg.5a98a50c411ad46b6dffbb411e18d45d.jpg

I do like the Schuco Insignia, I seem to have missed the boat with getting an affordable one of those. Back during lockdown, the guy on eBay I got a few of the GM dealer models from had the latest iScale Astra K and Insignia Grand Sport, also ridiculously cheap, but missed out on those as well. The iScale Astra J GTC is a nice model, one of those is on my radar for a future purchase, as are  the Minichamps Meriva VXR and Tigra twin top, both of those can be had cheap on eBay. With Corgi seemingly intent on steering the Vanguards range towards the plughole, at least they can be my diecast targets for the new year.

That Astra H is excellent, love that.

I have a fair few Vauxhalls as well, most have already been pictured but I do have a 1/18 Astra H Sporthatch and a rather crude 3 door Astra G in 1/24 scale.

Today's score for a total of 5 euro. Some are junk, some are close to mint (Gama Astra GSI and Majorette Clio), and apparently the Majorette T-bird is quite rare in yellow without decals.

The local collectibles shop has one of the McLarens if you want to complete the set, unboxed but very tidy and £20 IIRC....

F1 stuff doesn't do a lot for me in all honesty, thank you though.

It's an interesting find but I've been weeding out the single seaters from my collection for a little while, also been getting rid of some of the commercial vehicles that don't do it for me.

I've got a lot of cars and I need to keep things in check a bit!

Great collection of Vauxhall and Opels.

And it just shows that if you are prepared to wait, "bargains" do show up on Ebay.

I do not buy of Ebay, as I said before, I get mine stuff at auctions. I had a look through and found the lot that I got the Insignias in. The hammer price was £60, with fees that would have cost £75  for the 9 models. I know it is back in 2016, but the prices will not have changed much. Again, if you are prepared to wait, then bargains show up without the ebay taxes.
