Prior to the purchase whilst browsing on eBay, I spotted these '00' gauge garages (1.76 scale iirc)

I sent the sellers an email asking if they are able to up the scale a bit as I'd love to have a set of these garages too for my 1.64s. They sell the 00 gauge garages as a build kit.

@AnnoyingPentium

I got a reply from the seller of the above garages, he has just bought some 1.64 cars and is going to rescale the garages and offer them at some point:

"Hi

I've just ordered a bunch of Hot Wheels 1:64 scale vehicles. They should be here this week so I can use them to help me rescale it. I'll push it up the to do list and see what I can do.

It'll probably be done from MDF rather than card so it's more sturdy.

Thanks"

I am definitely going to be purchasing the garages if he can do them.

89p in 1986 = £2.15 in today's prices.

We've never had it so good!

Matchbox Cougar Dragster is done, dipped it in lilac and threw lots of purple pearl over the top. Engine is from the Corgi four engine dragster and exhausts are I think Hot Wheels but I don't know which casting. Rolls nicely on Real Riders and the original suspension

Bit late for lunchtime, but here's today's laptop companion:

13780477_IMG_20220607_1105492.thumb.jpg.3e5d1c10702438575677a5cf1b92ee09.jpg

It's the Matchbox King Size No.15 Merryweather Fire Engine.

Glorious big hunk of metal, and in really nice condition - a cracking car boot find from @Amishtat, if memory serves?

1337159514_IMG_20220607_1106362.thumb.jpg.d982ff31749cd57698f1b67c26f1cfd6.jpg

The 'King Size' rather than 'Majors' labelling suggests this is probably a late 1960s version - it was a large-selling model, and the amount of flashing around the front indicates that the tooling was well-used.

186723285_IMG_20220607_1106482.thumb.jpg.2aae42e6d78ab9e71cfed67ac425c7e9.jpg

This casting made it into the Superkings era with the chunky speedwheels fitted - which looked a bit like putting trainers on your nan. I think the separate hub and tyre wheels look best here.

It kinda blocks my laptop screen a bit, so I don't think it'll be invited back...

Still really like it, though.

My cousins had one of those in their toy box but I couldn't work out to whom it originally belonged. Too new for my late Uncle who would have been in his 20s by 1965 but too old with the separate tyres to be my elder cousin's who was born in 1971. Anyway, I loved playing with it, although it was very rough with no ladders.

I'd like to think its still there as my youngest cousin has told me she's helping my auntie have a bit of a clear out and if she finds the box it will be passed on to me. So, we may meet again.

Still mostly avoiding eBay, but I had to bid on these Marx as they all still had the card base/interior. Beetle one is especially amusing with propshaft/differential etc and is the one I'm most pleased to find

More teatime than lunchtime, but have a lightly playworn Matchbox No.31 Lincoln Continental, in that nice blue that seems more like tinted lacquer than paint...

Although maybe a bit underwheeled, it looks better like this than wearing Superfasts with the arches reprofiled, I reckon...

Base is still remarkably shiny, after 50+ years.

I wonder how many kids noticed...

Parcel received from @bunglebus today, cheers! What an unusual trio I picked. The Kees Saab is definitely an upscale copy of the Corgi casting. As above it incorrectly has a propshaft and diff!

I've had this Majorette Beetle for a few years but only just removed it from its blister ahead of some mods/paint. It's nicely done, don't think the wheels or colour suit it though

20220607_174639.thumb.jpg.457b1847a4055f9cc429e4270b3a4013.jpg20220607_174645.thumb.jpg.025ecb4626dca6c1a98e5658abc1ea2c.jpg20220607_174656.thumb.jpg.6a1bd2c70b73069719001b84656dd6a1.jpg

They've had a good go at an oval-window era dashboard too, plus it's nice to find the old wire suspension still being used, even if the base is plastic

Been trying to wean myself off Hot Wheels lately. Cost of living crisis and all that, not helped by having to fork out for two new Vanguards coming soon, that have been on back order since last year. Plus two very special purchases have been ordered,  that have been released for the 45th anniversary of a certain Ford-heavy British action drama series. So, the diecast budget is bare.

But while nipping in Morrisons on the way home, I saw fresh clipstrips! No new case stuff of course. Just doesn't happen around this way any more, even Smyth's and The Entertainer are a waste of time.

But it doesn't matter anyway, because I'm weaning myself off Hot Wheels.

I'm a weak man...

To be honest, I was so jubilant at snagging my second Sierra Cossie in the wild, I had to grab it....

And I just love the RX-3 casting. After it only being in the premium ranges for so long, I now have to go for every mainline release of it!

Picked up this Corgi Whizzwheels VW last weekend.

It suffered from broken suspension and the roof beacon was rattling around inside so it had to be drilled open.

I really should see about finding a replacement box for it. I wish I hadn't chucked the original - but I was, like, eight at the time.
