No Boyes anywhere near, but I'd love one of those XJCs!

If there's any left on Monday I'll grab them for anyone who wants any.

Mini Dinky C2 Corvette is very delicate:

Corgi SD1 might be even better than my bronze one:

But here comes the money shot! Not taxi/fire/police/Petty 43 nascar Caprice. Such a honey and look at the colour! Even the seats are green!

Glad you like them mate! I’m glad they’re in good hands too.

That Caprice is an absolute honey. Not the most common variant at all, strangely, given how nice they are. I’m pretty sure they did a blue one too.

I have no idea how those Mini Dinky’s survive complete. They really are so fine and delicate. The Corsair @bunglebus had was exactly the same.

I had a few bits arrive today, only just got a moment to photograph them. Bought this effectively mint in box hot rod Model A van, knowing someone with slightly more enthusiasm than skill had tried to paint the wheels

I'm hoping to get that off with the careful application of oven cleaner - might even try it on the box window too.

Next up, a pretty decent Wompin' Wabbit

Talking of restos, I decided to strip my Thames Caravan of the horrible yellow paint someone had applied, did come across a slight technical hitch when putting it in the tub

PXL_20250306_144223661.jpg.f5dec631792cfb2f60005927c5139e13.jpg

Thankfully it just about went in on its side allowing the lid to fit. Paint mostly came off easily except for the thinner areas inside the body (why is that?) and one rear door which stubbornly clung onto that weird violet colour, despite the other one submitting without a fight. Here it is in its naked glory

Nice bIt of detail on the badges and those little dots between the windows, although the rear is somewhat clumsy, with no lights or handles on the doors and that clunky overlap where they shut. The VW van I repainted also had no rear lights, most strange considering the effort put into other areas.

I had to be very careful drilling the rear post as it would be very easy to go right through into the door step area, thankfully I got it right. Those doors hinge on a metal plate rivetted above the opening, I've left that alone but I'll have to be careful there's no stripper trapped between it and the body, or it'll ruin the paint.

I'm not doing this stock colours, probably still two tone but I haven't decided yet how it will look. Getting a decent coat up under that raised roof will also be a challenge

I've got lots, but since Flickr managed to lose my two biggest albums (Hot Wheels, and VW diecasts), there are 20,000 images in no particular order. Unless I know the name of a casting, finding pics is next to impossible.

It's really annoyed me to be honest as they've pretty much just shrugged and given me a few months subscription for free. Going to take a very long time to sort them all, and hope it doesn't happen again

Despite harping on about how nice that era Majorettes are, I've only done one custom, the Lite Ace. I did attack the modern Beetle casting but that doesn't really count. Must dig one out for a once over!

Yeah, I don't for one minute expect this to be of interest to many on here but normal, everyday rammel like this is right up my street. (Amazingly, the Mk3 Ibiza is getting on for 20 years old so technically not too much of a "modern"... )

Plus it's another tick off my 'Cars I've owned' list.

post-5243-0-50577400-1498068396.jpg.569361d795ba1a23a5000abee44d4efb.jpg

Actually, this was Mrs W201's car, (the last brand new car we ever owned). So yeah, the colour is different and the real car was a facelift Mk3, but at least they are both Sport versions. Ours had a 1.9 pd TDi motor, and it was f'ing brilliant, only 100 bhp but in a small-ish car like the Ibiza, it went like a rocket. In any gear, at any speed, just give it a squirt of throttle and it was well away. We did actually test drive both the 1.4 75 bhp petrol Sport and the 1.9 TDi, and there was no contest really. Two trips to Germany in it saw it holding its own in the fast lane with the usual German luxobarges without holding them up! Had the all-important red D and i lettering on the TDi badges too, which people got all excited about back in the day 😆. We were genuinely gutted to see it go, but family expansion saw it replaced by a 4 year old 1.6 Octavia...

IMG_20250308_135131.jpg.a3370ab8b3c4c27f0ccdf1893660fce4.jpg

To be honest, a Mk3 Ibiza is not a car I'd have expected to see in miniature, this one is part of one of the many 'Unforgettable Cars' partworks by DeAgostini, the Mexican one apparently, and they are known for including all sorts of weird stuff you wouldnt expect to see modelled. (There actually was a yellow one done, I think for a Spanish partwork series, which obviously would have worked better for what I wanted it for). But for a cheapie partwork model, (IXO would be my guess for the maufacturer), quality is pretty good, and they've captured the shape nicely.

IMG_20250308_135219.jpg.b99c187aa4193301d9854be1078f77b3.jpg

Detailing is pretty good, the lights in particular,

IMG_20250308_135148.jpg.6c619d5d9109430b192652257aad98d0.jpg

Those plates will have to be changed.

IMG_20250308_140456.jpg.e9c694d2cab7b7207fac74d67b51b868.jpg

Shame about the upside down steering wheel (!) but dash detail isn't bad for a cheapie. Another weird thing about the interior is that it is mostly black, but the front seats are grey. I have seen this casting done as a slightly better detailed Cupra version, so I dont know if they use different front seats for different versions.

IMG_20250308_135554.jpg.5405a87bcf51aebc8c2becee9ec41211.jpg

Beggars cant be choosers though, it's  still a nice model overall, and I'm still pleased to have a model of another much loved real car from the past.

I always thought Corgi's XJR-12 casting was badly let down by its wheels, especially when some of its paint schemes were so gorgeous.
