These were both Welly items, but seemingly tampo printed and repackaged. The Toyota was approx 1/35 scale, Mini maybe 1/24.

'Irish Decal Products Ltd.' Well, alright.

Yes it's one of the Welly Innocenti.  I measured these to 1:28 scale

Thought they were scarce, then two years back I went into a Toy Master and found a tray of them.  Made in China, imported and re-stickered over the top by Peterkin UK the distributor.   So there you go, Peterkin and Irish Decal each did a distribution deal with Welly

IMG_2066.thumb.JPG.89b65c185021bd1b54c23f922b3d774d.JPG

As you can see, they have the Italian build quality authentically licked - bits fall off - the lights keep escaping.

IMG_2067.thumb.JPG.d8c1896b9cae9b477e1938d1edbb7112.JPG

The middle one had been converted for slot racing (not by me) by gluing it pished, over a 1970s Scalextric chassis.

That Ireland one is interesting and would want one, if not that I have stopped spending on anything for the time being.

Been fondling this.

It's the Budgie "Jumbo" range example nabbed from @danthecapriman last month.  Do quite like this one, it's certainly unusual.  Scale is approx 1:64, yet is is still 6½ inches in length.

WP_20230203_20_56_55_Rich.jpg.88a7e4b99f05b277cec9c55432fab845.jpg

The tractor unit is Seddon Diesel and with the trailer, dates from 1959-63 in the catalogues

WP_20230203_20_58_10_Rich.jpg.5b019c68143bf7bbf3d5bc08979d11f9.jpg

The trailer is Mobile Traffic Control Unit in as you can see in the AA Automobile Association livery.  It seemed to be the only livery they did, which made me think it was modelled on a real thing, but had not been able to find a period photo...

WP_20230203_20_57_31_Rich.jpg.9192bdbe4df1b86d4d12c2c97f4a20b5.jpg

However!   Stumbled upon the 1959 Morris & Stone catalogue sheet for their Budgie range, showing a cropped and coloured photo of one

Ungddtitled.jpg.bec396e925c2a44506e6d9292f4fa824.jpg

Not only that, a bit more googlification found this modern day painting by artist Mike Jefferies.

AA-Seddon-Tractor-unit-and-Mobile-office-Eaton.webp.b7532db067af6aebe094f2670f703553.webp

A mobile office such as this I reckon was probably unique in1959, if so then perhaps we have a registration plate for it.  Hurrah!

^^ There is one of those Budgie AA Control Units here, I posted the above a while back

So the painting number plate RGP 678 is not the same as...

6cc48f62876b7ba2417f3e7283278857--rac.jp

...TGW 413.  I assumed it was a unique old bus, but perhaps not.  TGW does not have the black-painted stripes and Has more gubbins fitted to the roof.

If it is the same one, a later-life paint refresh would explain that, along with the updated AA logos.  A refit would explain the additional indicator pairs on the cab in two places and the additional windscreen wiper.

I've no idea - the fellas involved must be long gone.  It does mean of course that I could have two, in each modelled livery!  But no, I won't.

Anyone know what these were actually used for?

They are getting to them so early, they aren't even making it through the till.  So, they are making nearer £2.90 per item

I get you 😂. They’re going home in lunchboxes etc?

Entertainer day job.

Deliveroo evening job straight after.

Pass by Mum's, to empty the box contents into Summer House.

Then go off to collect first food order.

Clock-off early and fire up the eBay app.

They were used, according to this picture, as a mobile control unit and office. Note this pic shows the big flag pole that the later liveried truck has. No extra side repeaters though.

Here's a shot of the one in the painting

One also appears in this old film that was shown on TPTV a couple of weeks ago

Which was later restyled into the Tiger Shark, although I can't find a picture of anything but model kits...

It was shown at the 1967 Detroit Autorama

Hot Wheels redline Python I got the other day. It wasn't in bad shape for 50+ years old

But I thought I could tidy it up a bit.

20231019_162628.thumb.jpg.9c68bf274c76db3e4edbca591b70a4be.jpg20231019_162619.thumb.jpg.b0b4da54621f846c9b646870de08d500.jpg20231019_162635.thumb.jpg.de71fb8b9c681791721eb1495d4dd769.jpg

Sunshine failed to appear in the later pics, but I used some clear red Humbrol on the worst of the chips, black paint pen on the roof and a bit of Molotow on the wheels and engine.

As ever the pics don't make it look its best, but it's quite a pleasing difference

The Python was supposed to be called Cheetah but the name was changed prior to the launch of Hot Wheels, you can see on the base where the change was made. Find one that still has Cheetah on it and retire early! Maybe

Leon had a look at his

WP_20231021_13_55_40_Rich.jpg.2366d0652440963859cf1172541fd665.jpg

Sadly it is stamped Python not Cheetah

WP_20231021_13_55_13_Rich.jpg.a3b9af0b37effc28b3e4a3f5b81053a6.jpg

Now he feels Cheeted.

Well, at least he does have his service pension to fall back on.

Think someone asked for one of these Fat and Fabulous 240Zs the last time I found them in BuM - just restocked so I have a spare @Spottedlaurel possibly?

I can't remember if I asked for one, but yes please if you have one spare.

You know the unpainted roof version is a bit of a rarity?

Has it got an R or a TM after the Hot Wheels text on the base, and do the four exhausts stick out of the body or are they flush?

The front and side  remind me of the Majorette  effort but the back looks more Whizzwheels as you said.

'Irish Decal Products Ltd.' Well, alright.

Of course, I couldn't let it lie

Went off to find out more

61060DiecastIrishMiniCooperWithTricolour

Love this!  And I'm not even remotely Éireannach

https://www.irishdecalproducts.com/collections/die-cast-models/products/61060-diecast-model-irish-mini-cooper-with-tri-colour-roof

€12.95 direct.  But they want another €10.00 to send it over the water.  Which means CogBox™ the best VALU route.

@MiniMinorMk3 Will probably hate it though, because roof flagness.

For a while now I’ve been renovating My Corgi GS 37 Lotus Racing Team. I also bought two Elans to replace the originals, but decided to keep them and improve the look.  I think I showed the new screen fitted to the Green DHC. The biggest problem was the bottom of the screen frame on the yellow FHC was missing.

IMG_7936.thumb.JPG.26794f745ab1a78d03637fc2820569f9.JPG

IMG_7937.thumb.JPG.de8bb227f06f3965792cd77fb682399e.JPG

I used a bit of soft iron wire to fashion it, used Araldite to glue it in, then some filler and a fair bit of filing got a pretty good fit.

IMG_7938.thumb.JPG.f62c631db3d67672d684663478b87683.JPG

Dark green Humbrol finished it off to a standard I am happy with.

I didn’t bother taking pics of the work on the Climax or VW.

The Climax had lost the steering wheel/mirrors fitting and the driver had been coloured in with Biro. When removing the screen, I dropped it and promptly stood on it! Doh! I got Steve Flowers repros which fit ok after fettling. The driver I had to repaint as wiping with cellulose thinners just made him go purple all over!

The VW was pretty dirty and had been taken apart by the young me to replace the tyre on the winch. This had fallen to bits as well so had to come apart again. Also the winch casting had corroded enough that I got spare truck to replace it, but it wasn’t needed as some wire wool and elbow grease fixed that!

IMG_7963.thumb.JPG.e88346c647d5bcd7e77e7ae77c16554f.JPG

I printed a picture of the top of the box out and stuck it on a corn flakes box, not bad for a few minutes work.

IDENTIFY THAT PART SUNDAY

Spotted on eBay.  The majority are for the same model.  However, some rogue parts have crept into the bag of bits before it arrived here

So what do we have?

Clearly it's meant to be a scrapyard bulk-lot of Tekno Mercedes SLs.  The only part that immediately jars for me is the blue bonnet, bottom right, which obviously belongs to a saloon of a similar era.  Bootlids?  They may or may not all be SL, I wouldn't be sure just from a photo, but there isn't one that seems to fit with the odd bonnet.  I'd be having a trial-fitting session to see exactly what I had!
