I have done this, it works quite well. Surprisingly hardwearing, too. It did pong once the sun hit it a few times, but after a few days it was fine.

looks very similar to the one in a carby 604

it has the same twin coil setup as mine too

the big difference between this engine and the 604 seems to be the fancy exhaust manifold

I don't know for sure whether production crew have "bought" cars but I remember one buyer had a distinctive name, let's call him Tarquin.

The credits rolled and the third or fourth one was a production assistant called Tarquin...

The Wheelerdealers Alpine does indeed look very sweet, but......if I was after one, no matter how nice it looked now, I couldn't ignore the fact that most of their projects are lashed up shite. I can't help feeling sorry for some of the punters who pick up their cars (smoky Lotus Esprit anyone?)
