Fettercairn Ave, Drumchapel, photographed in the summer of 1970. Cruising along the street is a chartered Alexander Midland Alexander-bodied Leyland Titan for the Kingsridge sports day.

Meanwhile, back in Bulwell, Nottingham.

The 23 was my regular bus in 1993 as I lived on Westdale Lane. 27 years later I moved back to a small road off Westdale Lane. The bus is now a 25 but still calls at that same stop when leaving the City. I no longer smoke thankfully as I did in '93. Nottingham City Transport banned smoking on their buses in 2001. Their buses are currently Enviro's running on biogas - the 1993 version seats were a lot more comfortable.

Around the time the picture of the red Barton was taken I'd have been working at care home for younger adults (the start of Care in the Community*) a few hundred yards down the road from where the bus was snapped.

Memories, memories.

New as a Scania demo for the 1980 motor show (I went being a sad bastard).

Seen today in S. London. This was off picking up passengers at TfL bus stops on the way to Bromley. Lovely sight, lovely thrumming diesel and gearbox whine.  Magnificent thing. Random shots as it was raining hard.

Driving a bus in Norway in the past could be challenging. The picture below is from the 1970s and was taken in the Lofoten area. The roads here were so bad that when a Norwegian bus body manufacturer got an order for buses to Africa, they did their testing here. And it looks like a 4x4 Mercedes truck has arrived to pull the bus out of the mud.

The bus was a 1971 Volvo B57-60 last registred 2010.

Leeds

Roe (built in Leeds) bodied buses. Top one Daimler CVG6, bottom is an AN68 in West Yorkshire PTE livery. The little white box on the Daimler said "LIMITED" when illuminated, indicating an express service.

Yes so it is. I used to pass through there a few times a year when I would work my way down the Kent/Sussex coast calibrating garage equipment.

That's one of the Leyland Nasties (awaits @Inspector Morose telling me I wouldn't know a good bus if it ran me down) that were ordered by London Country but went on loan to Nottingham and never returned.

I've definitely ridden on the AN68 when I was a bairn. I remember the reg number!

We used to get these weekly at my school when we went to swimming lessons.

The view hasn't really changed much. It's the junction between New Market St, Call Lane and Duncan St.

Kirkgate Market is the ornate building in the background

Spoonies in Crossgates not far from where they were built. The interior has Roe bus related shite. The booths have seats covered in that old orange stripy bus seat material.

I'll try get some pictures next time I'm in if not too pissed🙃

When it opened they had a parade of old Roe bodied buses outside so the locals knew why it was called to that.

When my Dad was driving  route 15, from Upton Park. Mum, sister and I would sit on the top  deck at the front to see the lights. Dad was naturally in the cab. His conductor ever charged us the fare
