If that really is a 74/75 mk2 capper it needs putting back to standard condition.

Occasionaly, when I've a bit of time, I like to go out and do a bit of shite spotting as well as looking around new areas/areas of Birmingham I keep passing but never have the time to look around.

As my knee has playing up, some spots are merely from my car rather than getting outand taking a pic

Right, enough waffling, have some pics instead:

From around West Bromwich:

I captured these 4 pics just after I mangled my knee at the scrapyard, I was pain just walking to get the pic of the Blue Rover 216GSi

This lot were from around the Halesowen/Cradley Heath area:

I used to pass this place quite alot, its a old Metal works shed (Still going I think) I never ever noticed the old rusty Transit van parked by the side of it, it looks to have been there for possibly 20+ years. I tried to take some pics but the gate and narrowness of where the Transit is maked it quite difficult. As I looked down I noticed in front of the Transit was another car, I cant quite see what it was, in front of that is a brick wall belonging to either the Kia garage next door or the Metal works place.

This Mercedes 200 has been sitting here just off one of the local squares for around 3 to 5 years, its never moved and I have made enquiries, apparently it belongs to someone who lives in the one of the flats above the shops. One thing that strikes me about this car is that all the tyres look newish, they are not flat or cracked/crazed and have plenty of tread on them. A rear sticker on saysthat this car was originally supplied by Drayton Mercedes in Stoke.

This Rover lives not far from me. I've been trying to contact the owner for a long while now, its been on his parents drive for while, so I called at the house about 2 years ago, his Mother told me that the car belonged to her son and he wishes to restore, he doesnt live there and doesnt have the space to keep it where he lives so keeps it on his parents drive much to the chagrin of his father seemingly, I left my details and details of the Rover site but havent heard anything. I called around a few days ago and it was parked on the other side of the drive, its only been moved.

At least someone wants to restore it seemingly unlike the owner of this:

This was nice though, taken on my old phone last year:

Thanks for looking.

Nice spots! "BMW Astra" is a very poor effort, if you want to convince anyone at least remove the Vauxhall lettering! The 216GSi looks tidy, although that grey trim needs attacking with some linseed oil. Love the Hillman Minx estate and it looks familiar, is it owned by someone on here or RR by any chance?

Nice one! That's a properly great selection of spots there, loving the 'Seth-luk' Hillman. Made me do a double take for a second.

I think the mouldy thing in front of the Transit is a Commer PB, judging by the apparent lack of wheelarches and doors

That's an astonishing update, LS, I've got a pic of a similar white mk4 Escort that I need to post up at sme point. The best shot of all is the Herald convertible,

110320121226.jpg

because it's so 1995 with the shonky paintwork, the crooked numberplate and it rolling on Wellers shod with Stomils. Calendar fodder.

Exactly what I do! (But for Birmingham, read Paphos  and in a few months, Cumbria!) A harmless pastime and a load of fun. That Minx estate is an early one, well found; won't be many older survivors. Loving the Jag and Volvo farms too. Keep it up!

BOOYAKASHA.

I thought it was about time I dumped a load of spots on here rather than them taking up precious space on my phone/computer etc....

ANYhow. A month or so back I took a flying visit to Brussels to see Old_Man_Sterling + family and Brussels in general.

Being a f*cking cheapskate that I am, I booked a cheap flight and got there on a pretty shitey plane:

150820123362_zps1df00c11.jpg

It was bloody noisy, I laughed as I read the brochure stating that it was one of the quietest small planes in the world :?

I guess you get what you pay for...

ANYway. My spotting senses were in overdrive, sadly my ability didnt match, I only managed to spot a few street spots:

Found a British reg'd Fiesta, it was FULL of crap, literally like someone had been living in it. Not seen a fresh tax disc since 2004:

As street spots werent exactly forthcoming I decided to visit this place:

230820123802_zpsff52fb20.jpg

A few years ago I used to live literally opposite the 'Parc du Cinquantenaire' where this museum was but never, for whatever reason, visited (apart from one time when I was a kid) despite being a car nut.

Anyhow, less words, more pics:

The Allegro above has been sitting on this drive since 1990 (I managed to make out the reg) thats 22 years. Taken off the road when my Rover was brand new.

Around the corner from this Allegro is an equally Brown Maxi, but I cant seem to get a good picture as there is always a White Skoda parked in the way, I'll have to try and get a pic of that too as it too looks lik it been standing for years.

Thank You, Merci and Shukran for looking.

Red5 and brick - The Capri was for sale at a local classic tat specialist, his prices are a bit on the 'Doctor' side but he seems to have a good turnover. I havent seen the Capri since I took a pic so I assume its been sold.

Not entirely sure what all this was about, but Belguim is next to Holland were weed is freely available.....

Yesh, it grows in wooden shoes in all the tulip fields.

In other news it ain't freely available anymore, you need a pass to get into coffeeshops now - and only Dutch citizens can get one. AFAIK at least, since I have no interest in weed.

I think I would rip these mirrors right off, what a disgrace.

Nice place & pics though!

Lol, sorry Michiel, I wasnt being serious about Holland with that comment, more over taking the p*ss out of people who firstly associate Holland with that. Le Pays bas sont indeed a very nice place having been there many, many times with Fatha_Sterling when the car export market was in full swing about 10-odd years ago. It reminds me of Belgium but alot cleaner, with a more chilled out atmosphere.

I'd like to return to Brussels to live sometime, though sadly at the moment for me, its simply a pipe dream.

Didnt notice the mirrors on that car otherwise I would have ripped them off myself.

Some good stuff in there, especially the Mirafiori rally car, Kremer 911 and the R5 Turbo (one of my money-no-object cars!). I also spent a while looking at that Aztec thing, what a fascinating piece of design, if very much dated visually.

The Allegro thats been on the drive since 1990 looks in rust free condition (just very faded). I hope you can get to see the brown Maxi to get a photo soon.

I find it amazing how so many people put up with a tatty rusting car just laid up infront of their houses for so long, its different if its in a garage, field or farm as its out of sight but when you walk past it everyday and the condition gets worst and worst you'd think they'd want rid.

There was a picture of a DAF (i think) a red one that had been on a ladies drive since the 70's I think it may have been 'spotted laurel' or 'roots arrow' who spotted it (for some reason I get those two guys mixed up, probably as they always do great spots). Cant find it now it had bricks on the bonnet anyone got a link to it or can post it here.

Lord Sterling sir, don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed ,but know quite a few of the cars you have spotted.

Even have a picture in my phone of the scrap dealer Honda as wanted the number. They do a great take away opposite. :D:D

Also the blue Herald has a 1200 red friend that sits next to him quite often, don't know if they do them up on that estate, but they don't lock the cars away on an evening.

Was half expecting to see my 900 in your photo shoot...

Great photos by the way

Dave

Thanks guys, I think I need to improve my photography skills though, I'm spending more time trying to avoid being caught rather than focusing on getting better, clearer pics. Its a fine balance.

Hi Dave, you must be fairly local then! I think you mentioned it before somewhere, from around the Halesowen area? Funnily enough, I used 'hang around' that take away resturant that you mentioned and the Pizza place next to it as many of my mates were delivery drivers, I was also a stand-in driver when the others were not available.

The Herald was taken a fair while ago now, I used to work in the industrial estate just next to where it was parked (The gated one) I also used to work at a garage a few streets away. Next to there is a bloke who does mostly bodywork on alot of BL cars.

Small world eh!

Great spots Mo - I've been to the Autoworld in Brussels myself towards the end of my LMC trip. I went on my tod because my mates had had enough of cars. I've been down that street you papped the Trafic in as well:

http://fav.me/d5bcmco

Etc, etc - we stayed in a hostel on Emile Jacquemainlaan, and I saw a beige Visa:

.....and a GS outside the Arc De Triomphe (the Belgian one).

Some of this occurred, too.

Great stuff Jon! Myself and Fatha Sterling have always lived literally around the corner from the Park where the Museum is, lil_Bros_Sterlings attend a school by there too, he still lives within the vicinity.

The street where you papped the Visa looks like Anspachlaan/De-Brouckere near the Grande-Place. When I last lived there I had to go to some building around there to apply for the Belgian equivalent of Job Seekers or something, what a depressing thing to go through there.

I dont think I've been to the Stefantiek, alot of Brussels has changed since I last lived there. The street where I papped the Trafic is quite run-down but huge work seems to be going on on the other side of the bridge.

If you ever go back, check out Schuman, next to the European Parliament, there are a few English/Irish pubs aroud that area. There was even an English/Irish shop a few years back but have since sadly closed now.

No problem, I should take comments like those with a grain of salt and my daily gram of cannabis.

Drunk guy in a pub in Tenby asked me where I was from then went 'ah, so you smoke the weed then?' which I denied (I don't and never have): 'so you're gay then?'. Yep, we are either stoned 24/7 or gay.

All the men in Tenby are stupid drunk wannabe sailors.

Now I've taken a pic of this Sierra a load of times, but because of its obscure location I've never had the balls to walk up to it and take a proper picture. Whilst on a nice free day off I had I went out and had a nice walk, whilst doing so I decided to grow a pair and get up near this car and take some proper pics, so here you are. It is laughably grotty:

That Sierra estate is wonderful!

Love the Cavalier too.

The Merc and 3 series with US spec bumpers (and sealed beam lights on the Merc) are odd and nicely shite.

Thanks for a splendid update, its helped my whisky headache!

Gr46 spottings there Pound_Sterling. I would like to do a stakeout at the house where the Sierra estate lives. When the guy goes out, pay one of those 'wheelie bin cleaning services' twats to come round and blast it clean with his jet wash, i'd probably pay a tenner for that to be honest. Then sit across the road with a 'Jeremy Beadle disguise beard' on and wait and see what (if anything) happened on his return.

^ :lol::lol::lol:

Some top spots there Lord S: the ones that particularly made me go 'Ooo' were the early Rover P6 2000, the Mini pickup and the KRAP Daimler XJ40. Plus that Moosetang would be worth a bit if it was a tidy one, so it's nice to see it in, erm, 'patinated' condition like it's still 1983.

Ace work - some fantabulous tat there, once again.

I wonder how long it'll be before you can pick up an MG6 for buttons.

This is just stunningly beautiful - great spot Mo. I love the Mustang saloon, too.
