Hello John gotta new motor?

I have.

Just been sat by the computer sweating it a fair bit in the hope this didn't make the money I thought it would fetch. Bid with about 25 seconds to go, kept my fingers crossed and shortly after SHITTING BLUE LIGHTS I was quite excited. Collection planned for next weekend, not too far from here and can't bloody wait...

*edit: Thanks to Scary Old Cortina for the advice by pm earlier.

Well done, it certainly looks incredible value...and you don't see that many around at the shows.

Flipping Nora, that was cheap for an OSF.

Nice work, YKT CheeRS (etc)

I drive regularly from Wirral to Sale on the 56 if you need a lift to collect it. Just let me know when.

Nice Billy, looks like a decent old thing, cheap too. I look forward to seeing it in the tin.

Every car should have a dash that slopes away like that. Period.

Nice buy!

Bubbling around the screen corners looks, ahem, interesting!

Cheers gents.

Warren I'll give you a yell and let you know. I have a mate who lives somewhere round there (and he has a recovery truck) but I want to drive it back to savour the experience of a mis-firing crossflow boat anchor on the M56 :D

Not too arsed (for now) about the bubbling and the rear arches may be interesting but that's some of the fun in buying site unseen.

That is the nuts. Seems like good money for a car of that age too let alone a Ford.

When I was at school these were driven by the poor kids' parents and I looked down my nose at them out of the window of our Horizon. Would honestly prefer one of these now.

Wow! That looks alright. 8) Always had a soft spot for the coke bottle Cortinas.

My dad had two of 'em. :)

Jammy!, I really like that, and that dash looks totally groovy mate. I just hope that bubbling isn't that bad, Looking forwards to the road trip photos!

Blimey, looks good!

My grandparents had a metallic green Mk3.... on an M reg I think? My granddad had a habit of buying runout models cheap, as displayed by the replacement Y-plate Cortina '80.

Anyhow, it was a fairly lush one I seem to remember - twin headlamps and chrome wheel rings. Turned up in the early 90s being used by an electrician working on the house next door, had been brush-painted red.

Bit of all right is that! Reminds me of the dark blue XL that was used in the first couple of series of "The Sweeney" :)

Posted

That seems a bargain at that price, well done Cavette. Needs some original style reflective plates though ;)

Posted

Is that cheap? It looks spectacularly pristine for that price! Expecting seller to 'back out' with a 'it's already sold' type thing!

Posted

wow thats lovely that, great purchase

Posted

That's great - I love that dash. The later ones were so dull.

Posted

Excellent.

Posted

fvck me - that is lovely...I think the Mk3s are the best looking of the cortinas ...wonderful....well bought sir

Much wantage from me , nice colour as well , top buy

Good luck with the collection/purchase.

Planning on keeping it or moving it on?

Posted

Nice. 8) Where did they all go? It seems like only yesterday that there were millions around.

Posted

Plan to keep it for a while (at least) and blezz round in it here and there. Paid for it and insured it, just waiting to collect it now as the seller works during the day and is busy in the evenings.

These are such a looker, I could get my deck chair out and just sit with a couple of cans and and look at one all day. spesh a non-GXL type middle or low-rent model. Like this one! Nice work Cavette!

Posted

Looks like L_J_K_Sethwrights little-known country-dwelling cousin.

Looks lovely, and it brought back some memories... I had an "L" reg one for a few years. Weren`t they simple in those days ?

Posted
