Show us your shite - in the snow!

Finally went to collect my car from where I'd left it on Sunday Night, not because of the snow, due to the German Market being in Town

Wasn't too bad, lots of people getting stuck round and about, just stuck mine in 'W' and it plodded through.. Thankfully.

"W" for "Welly" presumably :)

I for my sins work at a Rolls/Bentley specialist restoring them, its one of a few dotted around the place used for spares or probably for sale as a resto project if someone was really brave!

That isn't the one in Kelvedon is it?.

The snow is really bad here tonight, Deepest I've seen it since I've lived in this house which is 6 years, It took me just over a hour to do a 15 min drive home from work tonight.

It's still pissing me off though seeing the big HGV's driving at 56mph in the fast lane on the A14 which is just one sheet of ice and snow when everyone else is doing 25-30mph, It's craziness.

I was going for the 'forlorn teapot' look.

Alternatively, this could just be bollocks and I still haven't washed it yet.

It knows its place. 480 pictures to follow. A long night.

Despite SCTSH_ANDY's protests to the contrary, the Michelin Green Xs on this car are definitely FTW. You can tell the difference when you're driving like an absolute loon that there's a tad more grip from the Eagle F1s, but they're pish in snow and I've already done more TRAVEL CHAOS driving than I have time attacks in my C4 monster. I did claim a victory over a smug twat with an Audi Q5 last year though, getting up a not-very-steep-at-all snowy hill near my parent's place. The Q5 just spun its wheels. All four of them. It reminded me of that absurd bit in Robocop when the ED 209 throws a hissy fit because it can't work the staircase out.

The Eagle F1s also landed me with the most comedic police tug in my driving career to date. Plod stops me on some horseshit pretence of shouting at women in Stretford (description of a 'silver hatchback', shit that's narrowed things down to about 11,000,000 vehicles then), goes round with his maglite to the Eagle F1s which were then fitted, and comes out with the classic:

'You can't have them fitted on a normal car, they're track day tyres.':roll::roll:

I then proceeded to explain about the tread wear indicators in a none too pleasant manner and was silenced by his colleague on the basis of me breaking some kind of public order act by swearing copiously.

To their debit I did manage to bring the entirety of a Yorkshire village to a standstill by getting stuck on a No Skool Just Cool run:

I had to take back several nasty comments I made about the Land Rover Discovery after that little incident. Annoyingly every other car got up the hill.

Prophetic? Symbolic? No. Just bollocks.

Lada looks ace! Very much at home in the snow from what I've heard. Least its not got a very Russian 5 feet of snow on the roof! Yet...

Come a bit late to this thread, but here's a pic taken after an hour or so digging this morning. Still not going to be going anywhere in the immediate future!

Here's some more from the last few days.

Here it is yesterday morning, where I'd left it after Tuesday evening's horrendous journey home from work.

The digging out begins.

getting there.

This is our street - never sees a snow-plough. Maybe just as well, coz we'd NEVER get the cars dug out!

under this drift is my other 25, a recently purchased project!

The work carpark today. It's not a queue, that's where people ended up parking.

Of course since I'm hardcore I managed to get into the parking space properly. Had to dig out the last bit as it was too deep but other than that no worries. Got to the entrance watching an S-Max sitting there spinning the wheels before giving up, whereupon I put it in 2nd and inched my way in without stopping. Both before and after work we had to spend time digging people and and giving push starts whilst giving attempting to get people to pull away in 2nd. When it was my time to leave I just cruised away without needing a helping hand.

Admittedly I did get stuck getting back into the carpark at home which involved some rocking and also stalled it twice but since no one saw that it doesn't count

How did the MGF do? I imagine mid/rear engined sports cars are alright in the snow.

Posted

No, we had to push that one out (whilst getting snow thrown up at us) although part of that was due to the driver. I would have thought fwd is better as there's more weight over the front wheels?

Same goes for the back-to-front Metro, plus it's pushing the car rather than pulling.

MGFs are crap in the snow. Mid-mounted means the weight is shared both ends, so there's no grip anywhere! Quite amusing to watch though...

Here's my lot in the snow.

House? I thought Dolly was living in a Hotel....

Posted

Nope. That's next door. House was behind me, but it's really dirty and looks even worse with pristine snow everywhere!

Must admit, I have become a regular at the hotel... (I'm actually at a different hotel in Milton Keynes now, watching telly and realising just how little I missed it - why am I watching this drivel?!)
