MG MONTEGO NEEDS NEW HOME ASAP!

What a plonker I have been. In a drunken stupor myself and a friend went on ebay and won a 1989 MG MONTEGO. On sobering up, its a 200 mile journey each way. Ok, not a major problem as got access to a towing dolly. Inspected dolly, cracked and needs welding. Does anyone want dibs on this or knows someone who will deliver it for me to Lowestoft in Suffolk reasonably cheap? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That'd be the thing to do. Just jump on a train and drive it back. Redditch isn't that far really - you'd probably do Redditch - Lowestoft in 2 1/2 hours if the traffic was OK.

Either that or persuade Torsten to buy it...

Ah come on, drunk or not, you clicked the commit to buy button!

Yes, tax it online, get on the train and go and get it. 200 miles is not a mega problem by train.

Looks quite a nice one to me.

Seller says he will tax and buyers cost in the ad so no issue there really.

cheap piece of BL history

get the seller to tax - drive it throughout the winter, re-ebay in spring, get your money back

That's a great price for a great car. MoT till next year FFS! Get seller to tax it for you, train up there (or don't forget National Express, they do some mega cheap tickets) and enjoy the drive back.

If I needed a car etc etc etc

Thanks people. I am a straight ebayer, just made a silly mistake. I will make sure the seller gets his money one way or another, and thanks for the morale boost! Looks like a Monty is coming home.

If I could drive a 35 year old BMW 300 miles home then I'm sure you can drive a 21 year old MG 150 miles!

That does look like a bargain for the money, and just think of all the clunge that will be all over you once you get it home.

Well I did drive through Lowestoft on Sunday and I didn't see any one under the age of 60.

looks like a decent monty. I would tax via the seller or bring your insurance docs and do it local to the car- taxing online will leave the disc finding its way back to the original seller, and maybe onto you when they get round to mailing it on

Good tip about the tax. Just trying to finalise details, train ticket is £64 and takes 6hrs? Any cheaper options?

Ok, I am stuck at work for the next week or so. Seller doesnt want to wait too long. Anyone on here local to the car (Redditch) want her for £250? I will paypal the seller £50 leaving £250 to pay? Am desperate

Wow, what a deal!

Can't you MEGABUS it down there for a quid though?

I'll likely be driving from Cambs to Wales this Saturday, so could swing down via Redditch if you can get this far? I'd love to take it on but as said previously, funds are lacking. I can offer cheap transport* though!

* Transport would be by Citroen CX. No responsibility will be held by the owner of said CX if the car breaks down en route.

Nice car, its not terribly far from me, but as Mr Wobblah funds are lacking (arent they always? )

It's about 20 miles from me. Could assist with collection/storage if that's any help. May possibly be able to purchase at a later date...not much help now i know but...
