Dreams DO come true..now with pics in glorious Chryslerama!!

I really have had the most surreal day!

Went to work this morning expecting a normal run of the mill day.

By this evening I had bought the car of my dreams! Obviously I'm not talking Ferrari or the like, I'm talking hierarchy SHITE!!

These cars are rare as hens teeth and the particular ones I like are from the final year of production when they had a few minor cosmetic changes that just appeal to me. Hence even more rare!

So when I was flicking through on-line ads during a quiet moment at work, imagine my shock at seeing one advertised...just 7 miles away!!

I immediately left a message for the seller to call me. I couldn't concentrate on work at all...had the car aready been sold?

A couple of hours later, I got the call. No, it was still available.

Registered June 1979. Current vendor had owned it since April 1980 and has done less than 20,000 miles from new. MINT, original condition. Not a mark on it inside or out!!

Not only that, it was in the exact colour combination I would have chosen when new!!

I went to view the car after work and fell in love straight away. Will pick up once my cheque has cleared.

It does however present a problem in that I have nowhere to store it. So, unfortunately the Solara will have to go. :(

I will post some pics when I get the car home.

I'm just too excited to sleep tonight!! :P:P

To be continued........

Spill the beans you teaser!

If this isn't a Chrysler Alpine there's going to be some very disappointed Autoshiters on here :D

Chrysler 180 (or was it 2 litre by then) but badged Talbot (the cosmetic change :) ) ? I think that would be the only thing that could possibly prise you out of a Solara :)

Can I have my prize now

There's no escape from the Autoshite Inquisition!

I think he's been well and truly rumbled now!!:P

Bastards!!

Spoiling my fun!!

First thing to come off is those alloys. The original steel wheels are in the boot all wrapped up like new!!

I did own one many, many years ago, but the chassis collapsed whilst reversing in a car park!! Sitting in this one bought lots of memories back!!

Is it still badged up as a Chrysler then? I've never seen a picture of a Talbot 2-Litre.

Vicsmith has a 180:

I had bought the car of my dreams!

Congrats Mr Doo, I hope it sees you in good steed for very long time. I bought the car of my dreams about a year ago and it slowley turned into a nightmare. Now its dead.

I did have a dream about a similar car recently being repaired :?

You have to have a dream, and if you get the chance, you really should go for it, so well done. May it serve you handsomely for a long time.

Yes, they were badged Chryslers right to the end and were still on the price lists til 1981 despite production stopping in 79.

The cosmetic changes made in that year were:

Black grille

Wider body rubbing strip

Plain chrome hubcaps

Chrysler badge on bonnet rather than grille

Smooth chrome effect strip between rear lights.

Only little things, but important to an anorak like me!! :)

Also, the first owner on the log book was:

CHRYSLER UNITED KINGDOM

Heh, heh....no-one else was buying 'em were they!!!!

That's quite something! Nice one Sir Boobies.

Nice catch! I've seen that actual car a couple of times in the flesh so to speak!

Proper nice looking.

For some reason I do not recall ever seeing one of these. I must have done but the first time they ever came to my attention was on here which is odd.

Looking forewards to seeing some pics of this - not seen one in the metal since the 80's.
