320touring Posted June 15 Author Posted June 15 Bye bye Rover - you were good fun! I'll let the buyer reveal themselves if they want to. Final cost tally Car £200 Tyres £40 Spare brake pads £17.44 Booking for Teeside £45 Booking for Hillclimbs track day £40 Fuel £105 Total £447.44 So I would have been over £500 if I had done the drag racing at Crail, but likely by about £20.. As it is, it was great fun and the car performed well. moosemansjukebox, The Moog, gm and 9 others 12
320touring Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 See, the problem with Motorsports is it's a lot like Heroin, but not quite as affordable... I have a taste for the stuff now, so it was only right I upgraded the car I am using.. Enter stage left the ex @Dan302 and @sdkrc 207sw. 1.6litres, with a Turbo. And split rear tailgate for additional down force. loserone, scooobydont, CreepingJesus and 18 others 7 12 2

If it is an HDi then it could be worth a remap? 90 BHP can go to 110 BHP with no mechanical fuckery. The 110BHP will go to 143 BHP again with no mech changes - if it's that one then you can shift the torque band down a lot too. Actually, I'm hoping it's a pezz with the robot clutch Drove my MiL's 2008 era 207 for the first time last week and, fuck me, the clutch is vicious if you boot it from a standstill.

It's a 90 bhp and appears to have had a clutch semi recently from a previous owner. Re remapping - this is a NES approach to tracking a car. No Expense Spent 😂 90bhp is plenty with the amount of talent* I have. The Moog and privatewire 2

Still better than my wife's 1.4 HDi 206SW, I'd describe that one as a sub-optimal driving experience. Kid's 2012 C4 had the 90BHP one in it with a five speed box - that was fairly pokey if you pushed it. Following this thread in great expectations now......

320touring Posted June 27 Author Posted June 27 Got this tub over to the unit today for a look over.. Starting at the front Hello lil turbo Did a fluid check, all present and dup to respective marks - coolant looks nice and clean too. Headlamps needed to see some polish Better Then onto the main bit - checking tyres, brakes and suspension. Left front first Tyre is good - as are all others . @sdkrc had treated it to a full set late last year (via @davehedgehog31's amazing ATS bargains finding..) All of the tread, none of the pronouncables Front spring and shock ok, Arb drop link looks ok Suspect the front end rattle is a balljoint Pads are about 1/2 worn Discs are pretty tired, so I decided to use the rattle gun to help me out. A T27 torx and some subtle buzz gun action saw the disc retaining screws removed, and copper slipped before getting put back in gently. I noticed that the steering rack boot seemed to be detached - seems to be ok at the rack end but just flopping about at the outer end. Lastly, the bleed nipples was opened and some fresh fluid drawn through - I was able to use the 1/4" ratchet on these, no ugga dugga needed. The drivers side was no different except no obvious issues with a rattling sound. Pads half worn, Disc Moribund - and retaining screws removed and greased Spring and shock fine ARB all good Rack boot loose at outer side Bleed nipples loosened and fresh fluid drawn through. The drivers headlamp was just as gubbed Bettererer Sparkeratrons were checked too A most good number at idle The rears were in decent nick, no issues re brake lines, dampers, springs or handbrake operation I took the opportunity to wire brush the drums and put some milkstone remover onto them. Only thing of concern at the rear was the back box mount being a little generous with it's description as 'fitted' Sunny Jim, loserone, sdkrc and 11 others 13 1
