Busta Rhymes and his WHEEL TRIM CRIMES

We were so tight at the auctions, if we had two half sets of different wheel trims we'd put one set on one side of the car, and the other on the other side.

Behold, slightly higher definition. And still awful.

I think it was the "Fox" edition that had the red trims, rather than the Boulevard

The blue ones on the "Twist" edition aren't much better...

You did get some great trimz on late 80s / early 90s special editions though. I'm going to ignore the Panda Italia 90 and post the AX Splash, someone in my year at primary school got dropped off in one of these:

Those Zafira trims are Olympic standard horrible.

I'm not convinced these aren't factory Renault, they had a habit of stuff that looked like this without any branding.

Deffo correct factory Renault Trims, remember them when new.

I know there some absolute god awful wheel trims out there, which should be destroyed by fire.

But a reasonable looking set of new universal wheel trims have there place in my view, it can really help tidy up a older / scruffy car.

I've owned over 15 cars so far and most were sub £250 purchases. ( More so in the early 00's when such bargains were more plentiful with T&T ) Few ever came with a full set of original wheel trims upon purchase.

So my usual routine after cleaning them, was adding a new set of universal trims. Plus new number plates and mats.

These 3 things would lift a down at heel car no end. I used to get compliments on how smart my cars looked. Yet in truth most were rusty 12+ yr old motors, with wobbed up arches and plated sills. It also made them less attractive to Police, on nights out too.

Another thing is these days with the demise of most local scrap yards, finding a set of original trims means trawling eBay etc. The prices asked for a 2nd hand set of battered VW trims for example is ridiculous, so unless I get lucky then a universal set for £15-£20 is fine with me.

On a side note, I briefly worked at a Nissan garage as a valeter in 03. They use to replace every none Nissan with missing trims, with a set of Micra trims and just peel the badges off.

Worse, that’s factory alloys. I had them on my leaf as it took them so long to build it I got the “updated “ wheels. Yay.

Don't look too bad as far as factory plastic trims go - but underneath them, there are some nice looking alloy wheels..........

(The trims are there for aerodynamics and so to increase range)

The crewbus at work has just had these discs of joy foisted on it. At least the steels underneath are black.

Luckily our Sprinters have escaped the same fate...IMG_20250901_190837_edit_123521242582723.jpg.ae44546524b83899b1011c6400695f35.jpg

This was the shitbox I had a few yrs back, despite them looking naff ,  the wheel trims make the car look better I reckon.

Seriously, this makes so little sense to me. Meticulously restore a classic, keep it original, and what wheels shall I use? These...
