Smooth, stable, unbelievably quiet, and in this one anyway, totally climatically controlled!

The handling's great too, as the car is just so low down.  I'm kind of shocked by the old Xedos to be honest...

And yes, the Craig bridge is still a popular spot for all the local car lads to take photos, there's even new coloured up-lights on it, very nice of an evening!

My favourite car photographing spot was the shonky Broomhill bridge when I lived up there.

Will be exploring that one, don't think I've been there...🤔.  Only lived here for 15 years!!!

I should say hi to the guy with the Julian Bailey Carina if I see him again.

What's the plan with yours @Snipes? Do it up and bit and just use it or modifications?

Tidy it up a bit and use it to get back into tinkering. I've been down the resto-mod route before and it ended badly.

It's on a minor road that doesn't really go anywhere other than link Nethy Bridge with the A95, there'd be no reason to travel over it. Definitely worth a look while it's still here.

eBay but can't see any on there at the moment.  I think I also considered Mobil but that was £££

that Gulf ATF seems to be out of stock everywhere.. Don't suppose you can remember roughly how much it was so I can decide if its worth hanging on to see if it comes back in stock or buying something equivalent

I paid £33 for four litres in June 2022.

Castrol an alternative maybe?

Hmm this looks reasonable price for 5L and I know at least for engine Oil Millers have a decent rep

Yeah that looks good, decent price too.  I've bought a fair bit of Millers stuff, and Opie are a trusted seller.

@RobT @Schaefft

Did you find the oil level hard to read on these? Possibly a shallow sump?

All of the roads around here are crowned so even the few that aren't on an incline tilt the car slightly unless you park slap bang in the middle of the road. When I changed the oil I measured in the 4L its supposed to take but due to the thin clean oil and tilt on the car I couldn't verify it on the dipstick. However as the oil got slightly darker over time I checked in various different but not entirely flat bits of my estate it always showed around min.  Before Fotu given the length of the journey I just stuck another 3/4 litre in but when I checked at Fotu  ( again not fully flat but flatter than here) and it was showing above max.  I suckered a bit out so it was reading on the max but now its back home I can't get it showing anything above minimum.  I've never known a car to be quite this sensitive and now I've no idea if I'm under or over filled!

I know the feeling, not from the Xedos but from the KV6 in the ZT. It's either just about at minimum or over max, the range the dipstick indicates isn't all that broad it seems! Takes about the same amount as well.

min to max on the Xedos is about 3/4 litre it seems so I guess it doesn't take much to tip it one way or the other

Been a bit quite on the Xedos front for various reasons (work/weather/personal issues/holiday) so it's been sat for a few months untouched. It is about to have a small article in the brilliant classic.retro.modern magazine this month though which is very exciting

It's in the readers cars section and written by me so don't expect the levels of quality writing that you get from @motorpunk's brilliant articles but it's the first time I've had anything in an magazine so I'm excited to see it

Congratulations, the pen is mightier than the pork sword.

I sort of know Dimitri Urbain. Apparently he collects vintage cardboard boxes that car parts were sold in. He should be on here.

Nice two page spread and a good few pictures despite them being badly taken by me on a crappy phone camera, the arty shots of the Merc 190 readers car in the same issue put mine well to shame

Delighted with the article though and they didn't edit out much of my rambling at all, its surprisingly hard to write a "living with" article on a car you've only driven about 5 times at the time of writing

Got an e mail last week asking if I'd be interested in applying to being part of a media day/photo shoot for Brands Hatch centenary and had got the approval confirmation this morning!

Apparently they are looking for a mix of cars , race cars, track cars, road going versions of race cars etc

Surprised but delighted they thought of the Xedos for this.  Better get cleaning and polishing

Some more pictures

The cars were laid out to show 1 0 0 from the drone shot . Shame it wasn't great weather

There was a follow up shoot on the grid but I couldn't be bothered to queue for that (but probably should have done)

Fantastically diverse selection! 🙂

Is there some common theme, «road going version of successful race cars» for example?

(though that doesn’t really explain the VW Thing, come to think of it 😄)

It was supposed to be stuff that had a link to Brands Hatch (race cars, track day cars, road going versions of race cars etc) but suspect they got a few randoms in to make up the numbers in the end

Love the S2. What's the red plastic thing?
