purplebargeken Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 I tried that a good few years ago. It was…. Ok but not fantastic. However, like a lot of things, formulas do change.

Different effects on different surfaces/compounds I guess. Largely positive in my experience. A heat gun can sometimes work far better than any formula? purplebargeken 1

I have several cans of black truck bed liner, which is overpaintable. Hmmm, then maybe a couple of coats of mid-grey might finish it off nicely. Hive mind view on this? I wouldn't. Go for the Bumpercare, or try the boiled linseed and white spirit mix first. Truck bed liner will be irreversible and look horrible. loserone, wuvvum and purplebargeken 2 1
purplebargeken Posted April 7 Author Posted April 7 Bit more cleaning occurred, mostly inside, sweeping dust and stuff. Had a go at cleaning and protecting some of the plastics.

purplebargeken Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Thought I would spend a bit of time on the Visa this afternoon. Took the door card off and had a root around. The winding mechanism was really stiff and took a lot of effort to operate. I sprayed a ton of WD40 on the sliding mechanism and the cog and workings. Just spent time working the mechanism for about 30 mins. Also cleaned and lubed the door hinges and door check strap. Now much better. The winder works really smoothly winding the window up but is less so winding it down, feels tighter at times than others. Will let it all soak in and then try again. I have some external weather strip that will do the job but need to source the fittings that the strip sits on, there are half a dozen and they mount onto a hole in the door. Not familiar with them so will need to seek out various suppliers. The door lock is inoperative on the key. The key just spins. The mechanism isn’t connected to anything. Will need to do a bit more research. Keymaster, brownnova and Marshall2810 3
Volksy Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago IIRC the door lock (key) isn't actually connected to the interior door release/lock, which I think you slide forwards to lock from the inside. The key just , when turned, stops the exterior button from being depressed. Because of this I managed to lock myself out of my Visa Super E many years ago. I may be wrong about this, it was a long time ago! purplebargeken 1

lesapandre Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Recessed middle underside of the steering column shroud? Is on the van. Then to release the safety catch there is a small metal handle parallel to the underside of the bonnet edge.
purplebargeken Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Cheers for that, will have another look tomorrow 😊 lesapandre 1

It's good stuff that's easy to apply, a little goes a long way and keeps stuff looking good a long time EspenO 1
