This was on my watch list as well. The seller is accepting offers.

At least it's parked on a hard standing in the open which will have helped a bit to keep the dampness down. May not be too rotten.*

*opinions may vary.

Sloooowly getting there with the C15. I have ordered another bonnet. Just waiting on it coming from God knows where. I though it was a UK breaker but the order confirmation came though in Spanish/Portuguese. So nothing to loose i attempted to weld the old one up. It turned out sort of presentable.

A little problem had appeared in that the front wheels are hard to rotate. The brake discs and calipers are removed so it's not the brakes. It goes into gear and neutral fine and drives back and forth fine. I haven't gone further than 10 feet driving it. So hoping it's just needing a longer run to free the gearbox/diff up.

That is starting to look very smart!

Spotted this at the top of Haldon Hill, Exeter earlier.  He peeled off down. The back way towards Kenford so I gave chase!

So good to see one in the wild!

MOT booked for this coming Tuesday so today I set about trying to work out why I'd lost full beam although my side lights and dipped still worked ok.

IMG_20260207_143538.jpg.faa1b077887ee2f7dd77e9071b3de3d2.jpg

As both headlights were affected the switch seemed like a good place to start. After confirming it was getting a 12v feed from the plug I checked for continuity through the switch in its various different positions and didn't find anything amiss.

I then removed the plug from the back of the O/S bulb holder and after sussing out that blue was earth checked for voltage on both the other terminals with the switch set for both dipped and full beam.

IMG_20260207_140552.jpg.b659e2241cb3ab2a10b2328d5c53a69e.jpg

IMG_20260207_140649.jpg.5bb1f4913c1776ed9379c8a60d0c7d26.jpg

Properly confused by this as I was getting near as damn it 12v from the appropriate terminal with the switch in the appropriate position for dipped and full but no full beam when I connected a bulb. Eventually I figured that as the O/S is fed off the N/S perhaps I should check what was occurring there.

IMG_20260207_150116.jpg.6fd2daea75de1f95dcadf498e95915fb.jpg

11.2v on dipped (note O/S bulb lit)

IMG_20260207_150026.jpg.7bddab92468b25cc253b6c34c3b3eb20.jpg

but 0.0v on full beam - confirmed by O/S bulb not being lit. So I'd found the problem but was still no wiser as to the cause. I guessed it couldn't be an earthing problem as dipped and full share a common earth and dipped was unaffected.

Figuring I had nothing to lose I traced as much of the wiring as I could and undid any connectors I came across, scraped any crud off contacts and doused everything in contact cleaner. The threatened rain then started so I quickly shoved everything back together and

IMG_20260207_160132.jpg.722d46348143ef0f12037f2a5fb87847.jpg

full beam is back! If I'd been a bit more systematic testing after each connector I cleaned I probably could have pin pointed the problem mais ça marche, alors tant pis!

Needs a good wash and I might bleed the brakes tomorrow if I can get someone to give me a hand and then fingers crossed I'll be as MOT ready as I'm ever likely to be.

It might be something to do with the finest quality Chinese headlight relay kit that I fitted. The identical kit I fitted to the bx lasted one month before failing, so that one is doing well.

Thanks Dean, you were right. Not the best pic but the circled connector is slightly deformed/melted and is the one for full beam so has been running hot/high resistance and some point.

Yesterday's clean up has restored full beam for now and will hopefully last for the MOT on Tuesday but I'd better replace it sooner rather than later so I don't get stranded without headlights.

A couple of Halfords finest relays have been procured and shoved in the dash alongside spare leak off pipe and supplementary air conditioning.

As the lights are currently working I thought why poke the beast? If the beast subsequently dies it can be summarily replaced.

Bugger, I had planned on using it to go to Derbyshire this weekend to visit my Dad.

I do have a used axel in the shed but I'd have to check the condition.

Garage are quoting £650 to weld it up. It's a question of what state the one in the shed is and how much it would cost to swap everything over.

If all the bolts come loose it's just like dropping a classic mini subframe. It's not a hard job, just time consuming.

Sounds a lot. Do you have a picture?

Where has it fractured?

The axle I had in the shed is in better condition than I remembered it being and having taken it to the garage for them to have a look at on my way into work this morning we've agreed to use it rather than weld up the old one.

I'm going to attack it with a wire brush and see how many coats of paint I can get on it this evening after work before I get hungry and have to go home.

Behold an axle of finest green...

It's had two coats of two pack epoxy which was the quickest drying suitable paint I had in the shed. Both the dog and I are hungry so that'll have to do.

You have to admire the ability of a long dog to just roll itself up into a teeny, tiny ball and sleep.

(Unless of course you are both on the sofa in which case, it is, of course, like sharing it with a bicycle**)

**I am utterly convinced that Germaine Greer wrote that about twenty years ago in the Gruniad or something but Google AI says I must have made that up. Dementia beckons :-(

Can't wait for you to do the rest of the underneath in green. Leave it 'til summer mind, that epoxy will dry loads quicker and save you a fortune on leccy!

Ordered some new bushings for the axle on a might as well while we're in there basis. They're due to arrive here on Tuesday from Estonia.

Screenshot_20260213-142724(1).png.877a971f4853ce2377bdbc3fe99dc3eb.png

They were the quickest delivery I could find as well as the cheapest option. Whether they remain the cheapest will depend on how much I get clobbered for customs duty.

http://www.spareto.co.uk have a lot of C15 bits, I'll update on what they're like to buy from when/if the parts arrive.
