That's crying out for an (empty) KFC chicken bucket to be sat on the back window... 😂

We're you in a light blue Berlingo @SmokinWaffle? I was on my way to Twixfest.

First night's sleep in the hearse last night. Surprised a couple walking their dog this morning. Mind you it's often dog walkers who discover bodies so you think they'd be prepared!

Yep, that's the one. 53 plate, dented and scratched. Window tints by Stevie Wonder.

Morning 🌄

IMG_20250302_083106.thumb.jpg.0b6d3d57c64407a83721dc216d4ec250.jpg

Coffee and breakfast on the go. All is well with the world.

For the eagle-eyed amongst you neither me nor the dog have WD-40 or contact cleaner for breakfast:

(Withnail: Why not? Why not?

Marwood: Because I don't advise it. Even the wankers on the site wouldn't drink that! That's worse than meths!)

I've been repairing the boot lock again.

I would have considered investing in curtains or window tint.

@Sunny Jim Jim, vår norske venn makes a good point - I have the blinds/curtains from the ex-Krujoe Pleasure Wagon (rest in pieces...) if you can use them.

I looked at curtains now for fun and there are a lot of interesting ones one can buy. @Sunny Jim do you like cats?

@Dyslexic Viking curtains and window tints are both on the list (after welding, MOT and servicing).

Purple velvet if I can find some at a price I willing to pay! 💜

@Sunny Jim what's the charity shops like round your way? I'd be trawling through them, even if it's fake stuff, who's going to know from the outside? 👍

There's a huge haberdashery store called Abakhan up the coast from me in Mostyn. They have that AS favourite crushed velour at £4 / m in a rather fetching shade of purple.

This is how we've done velvet in the past but you definitely need to find a certain kind of shop.    Remember the colour is irrelevant so faded yellow is fine

How much do you need?

Without measuring I'd guess about 2.5m for each side and 1.5m for the back window and the same again for between front and rear + allowance for pleats I'd say 10m ?

Buy another 5m and have a matching full suit and trousers made with identical fabric, Inc matching dog coat😂

Last time I had a suit made was 2007 in Bangkok - I went for blue silk that time and it still fits.

After work I lifted the carpet and underlay and removed bits of trim in preparation for the welding. Not a pretty sight, it appears someone had put an old sheet under the underlay which was decomposing and combining with the rust.

It succumbed to a vigorous wire-brushing eventually.

Now you have got 'to the bottom of it'....

Do you reckon a *full pattern steel floor-extension has been welded in >> keeping the body halves stitched together OK 🤔

TopToots... Epic slaloming on Sunday 👀

That was my immediate thoughts! 😱

@Sunny Jim, do you have an angry grinder with the wirebrush attachment? Apart from flinging sparks at your precious glass, it would have been a lot easier.

Sorry if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs

Edit- is that metal edge vertical to the sill actually meant to be welded to something, or it it supposed to be flapping around in the breeze like that? Looks a bit galvanised too🥺

Career* - I ran Sunny Jim's Solar Powered Cabaret - a venue at festivals for a few years. The suit was to match the 30ft geodesic dome that housed the cabaret.

@comfortablynumb do have angry grinder with wire brush attachments but didn't have it with me and in any case would want to strip more of the interior before using it in the vehicle. Wire brush on a drill might have been a good compromise but again unfortunately I didn't have it with me as I was doing the job at work after I'd finished for the day.

The strip is aluminium held on with self tappers. It was covered in carpet held on with contact adhesive. The visible bits are neat and well made but anything underneath are rough as arses. Part of the loom runs behind it.

Dropped it off for welding this evening, Mike the welder hopes to have it done by the end of the week.

Think we need this to be resurrected for the next UK Shitefest!

Nice idea but I was the emcee so you folks would have to be the acts!

In other news  I went to check the C15 as I was supposed to be using it again from tomorrow. Unfortunately one of the springs broke as I was moving it so I'll have to go and get the hearse back to run about in until the van's fixed. TBH the welding being postponed until closer to pay day is no bad thing.

I'm just trying to envisage what acts could be powered by the sun! Mirrorman, maybe? 🤣

Seriously tho, emcee can be a tough gig at times, so respect.

Possibly, before my time I reckon. You finished the £100 worth of pies yet? 😀
