Please don't take that, ADHD means it takes me forever to get it in the first... oh, the car.

The esteemed OP is already in possession of two tickets :D

Rationally @Joey spud's Avensis looks like the most sensible thing in the universe for 'transport'.

Meets 1 of the criteria...

I thought the second spine op had already happened, wasn't a required feature :D

It was a last minute offer of a cancellation op slot. I mean, which daft sod would have a spine op on Xmas eve. Oh yeah…..

L3 and 4 were operated on mid 2023 and sadly the next two down deteriorated significantly over the next 12 months.  Struggled hugely tbh. At least the op is done now, just a slow recovery.

Here's a Nissan Tilda Swinton which is fairly local.  Slightly above budget but might be haggling to be done.  Short MOT but it's a lot newer than most cars at this price point.

Bet if you waved 500 under his nose he'd take it, it is a bit nosey after all.

Whilst there are some rather decent things around for the 500 quid mark (on here tbh, the Astra estate and Suzuki SX being examples just to start with), they are deeply outnumbered by the sheer volume of potentially utterly fucked crocks of misery listed elsewhere.
Having had the chance to reflect on this and given the additional dosh required to attend to any required remedial work for stuff such as MOT’s and so on, it makes sense for me to build up a better budget limit (I think).  The VED hike that may happen later in the year is also something that I may need to look at, just in case that impacts (wrongly or rightly). Recovery after the surgery needs to be attended to as I can do fuck all currently. It makes sense to get this sorted before traipsing off on a collection jaunt.

The thread has been a positive eye opener and to me,  it harks back to old AS price points for our sort of cars.  I like that.  Hopefully the thread will trundle along in the interim.

A huge thanks to all for offered chod.
Cheers all 😊😊😊

Chicken!

Just stick to long MOT and Petrol. Anything south of £600 you will be able to sell at a tenner a throw on here.

Come on!

Might have a 2006 Astra 1.8 petrol Auto Estate.MOT June 115k miles.ULEZ compliant. Not entirely sure on price, but should be close.

Daughter no.2 needs an Auto. She has her driving test in a couple of weeks.

Consider me interested, if it does get put up for sale, as long as it's not too f*cked.

Whether she will be happy with an Astra is yet to be determined.

The Suzuki looks interesting, never owned a Suzuki before.  A window regulator is around 30 quid or so. Just the location is not in my favour, had a second spine op on Xmas eve and it’s going to be a long recovery, an extensive train journey and so on is not going to be good.

Shame the MGF has sold as I would have done a delivery for a discount!

How about a 3.2d e50 Elgrand?

Ticks all the boxes apart from the MOT bit as it would be way above your budget if that was the case.

Ex @Robson3022 from this parish.

Needs some work obvs but starts, runs and drives.

Could be a nice early winter project and make a few bob in the summer.

Remind me which one this is? Colour me interested in taking it back

It's the silver t plate one I had off you back in 2020/21 from memory.

Will want a bit of welding etc on one sill but in truth mate I just need it gone so £300 takes it away.

Starts on the button as one would expect.

Possibly a mod could move it to the normal autoshite chat and we could delight in more awful cars for £500? @chaseracer

Random - is ‘95 or older, has some MOT, not terminally rusty, not obviously totally fucking fucked m9 possible at this price point? I may or may not have a stupid idea for this year, depending on the life circumstances.

My mates neighbour just off loaded a spaceship Civic for 500 notes, I was too slow to get a pic..... Unsurprisingly furst 2 sea did a buy. Apparently the dealership only offered them £100 trade in!
