Vehicles with an unusually long production period.

This is a bit fascinating, vehicles that was in production for an unusually long time.

Agricultural machinery and especially Russian ones can be in production for a long time here are some examples.

Rostselmash Niva sk5 combine  1972-2018 with 1.2 million units produced.

An early one.

Two of the last.

DT 75 tractor 1963-2014  2.7+ million units produced.

Massey Ferguson 35  1956- is still in production in Africa 3.3+ million units produced.

Some facts here may be wrong as finding info on Russian combines as an example is difficult.

In terms of cars, the ones I can think of are 2CV and Beetles and Lada Niva/Riva. But surely there are more?

Honda SuperCub 1958 to present must be one of the longest production runs by now.

I had forgotten about these. Over 100 million made, it must be the most produced vehicle of all time?

The Renault 4 lasted from 1961 until 1994, when it was replaced with the Twingo. Pretty impressive run.

UAZ - 469

1971-present

Could even be specified with an EV drivetrain recently as the MWM Spartan!

never seen a Mini with that amount of lean! I wonder what a car on as originally designed, 10 inch wheels and tyres would look like in the same corner/speed etc

as for the thread title, and to go with @brownnova's post :)

awesome to see someone was autoshite enough to import one of these in this day and age :) (its a UAZ 452 which they have been making contiously since 1965, I have always wanted to see someone bring over a brand new one, so its neat to see that finally LOL)

A UAZ 452 is one of my dream cars but I know I would hate driving one.

So it will only remain a dream.

this one is a really interesting one, because they actually stopped making them for a time, and then started making them again, I think the MF35 must be the only case of that happening, where an old vehicle design gets put back into production after a several year hiatus?

heres one that really caught me by surprise

of course I knew of the MF35 (I have driven one even :) ) but what I did not know is that Massey ferguson since 2015 had started making them again!

https://www.masseyferguson.com/en/product/tractors/mf-35.html

(I mean yeah I have seen a good number of vehicles with long production runs, but cant think of any where they stopped making them 50 years ago and then went "you know what lets start making them again" closest other vehicle I can think of like that off the top of my head is the new James Bond DB5's that Aston Martin put out a while back)

I would love to know just exactly how many parts are still shared with an original 1955-1964 model...

and also how much one of these new ones cost, and could one be road registered over here?

that would be some hilarious Late registration madness a MF35 on a 71 plate LOL

as an aside on the topic of the Lada *Riva* has anyone ever seen a 2015 one over here in the UK? I have seen a few late Niva's of course, but I have never seen a modern Riva imported into the UK, imagine seeing one on a 65 plate! better yet, imaging getting it plated and making @warren t claim work it as a taxi like old times!

Ford 8/10/Anglia/Popular family, 1932 -1959.  All basically the same under the skin - the early Y and C type mechanicals are a bit different, but from 1937 to 1959 most bits are interchangeable.

Citroen Traction Avant (1934 - 57). Beats the DS by a few years.

Current Fiat 500 is now 17 years if I'm not mistaken.

Morgan 4/4, 1936 to date, and Lotus/Caterham 7, 1957 to date, although both have been extensively re- engineered.

I think the most impressive part of that is the second generation T2 bay window, 1967 to 2013, pretty long run for one body style when VW themselves had got to at least the 5th generation Transporter while still making the second in Brazil

are they still producing the Morgan 4/4? I was under the impression production of it came to end in 2018 sadly, for reasons I dont really understand tbh, they had been making it for so long, why stop now...

Fiat 500

Not just the old, classic original.

The new one has been in production since 2007 without any major chassis or even major cosmetic changes. A 17 year production run, that still is in production, for any modern car is a very long time. I don't even know of any replacements they've got planned for it either?

1024px-Fiat_500_(2007)_02.JPG

I can't think of any other mainstream car still in production that is as old as it?

In 2021 they had made 2.5 million of the things too. The classic was 4 million, so it won't be long surely before it'll get to that level. Even the classic was in production for 18yrs, which the new gen will be nearly there now.
