think you're exactly the type of person who would be very welcome

My experience of shite meets concurs with this opinion.

Talk about welding at shitefest reminds me of a story from here where someone did welding on an old Fiat in the garden and set the whole garden on fire and almost burned the house down.

So welding at shitefest maybe not be a good idea.

@Talbot's an expert welder, he would never* set fire to anything... 😉😁

I'm not a person you would want there.

Don't be daft, we'd love you to come.  Direct trains to Shrewsbury from Birmingham airport too.

If he flew to Birmingham or East Midlands, I could very easily drive him to Shitefest

I will give attending this a thought, but below are some of my thoughts about this.

I've never been on a plane in my life and it scares me for some reason. Alternatively, it is about 3 days of driving each way, which is almost preferrebale, even as this would be hard. This is in hay fever season so my face might explode. I'm a very boring weirdo who is mostly used to socializing with a cat and I have some bad experience with events like this so unsure if participating in this is a good idea both for me and others. And I don't drink. And I am afraid that this is actually a dogging event.

So will give it a thought like I said.

You won’t be alone in any of these things at Shitefest!

A bunch of mostly sober and boring cat loving weirdos sounds promising.

I can work out most of the translations from Norwegian but I can't work out what "Isle of Man" could possibly be in English

There's a screen in the woods if we'd like to watch a film?  I wondered if anyone fancied swiping 70s car chase videos from YouTube and making something we could put (quietly) on a loop.

That's very cool. I guess no 4G/5G though for YT videos? I've watched some great BL, Citroen and Ford launch videos recently.

Maybe it's possible to download to A Device and hook it up to the screen

Anyone else planning/needing to bring children? My wife and eldest are away anyway that weekend so would need to bring 1x 6 and 1x 9 year old.

I'm sure they would love it anyway but other kids would be a bonus

I could bring Master Grogee, 9yo (M). Generally of a happy disposition and likes kicking a ball around.

+1 vote for @Dyslexic Viking to attend.

I'm an introvert, and I also like cats, so we've got that in common. I do drink, but I'm basically plastered after three pints.

I also get hay fever and would happily share tissues and unbranded Citrazine tablets with you.

If you've never set fire to a car while welding, you're just not getting enough heat into the weld.  Try cleaning the metal back further and stepping up to the next power level.  Maybe a bit more wire feed speed too.

.. and I totally did not* set fire to the Merc C250td on the driveway a couple of days ago.  Nope.  Not me.  Never.

Briefly.

Little known fact - if you weld the (previously Waxoyled internally) chassis rail on a Ser 2a Land Rover you'll find that the chimney/venturi effect of the hollow rail will push all the burney stuff along quite nicely to where it meets the 30 years of accumulated rust proofing (leaked engine oil and crud) at the front end.
Better know fact - Birmabright melts at fairly* low temperatures.

A friend told me this - probably the same one what welded your C250td?

I've discovered lately that the paint on a Toyota Carina is far more flammable than it has any real right to be, as is the carpet.

That doesn't sound good, hopefully it wasn't too much damage?
