I dunno £700

I'm 20 minutes away

The pass has pleased me no end.

An affordable* repair would please me even more.

Looking at the advisories, a cynic* might say they've ahem, 'downgraded' the corrosion issues they don't want to have to resolve, for a pass.

Still, a pass is a pass, and an XM back on the road can only be good for it.

This IS more than £800, but I fully endorse the removal of that nasty foam from a PSA product.  Good man.

Oh FFS. You have my sympathies/congratulations

Seems a bit steep, but then I guess minus the VAT, 3 days of labor and evidence of a fuck load of crap removed may make it not as horrendous.

You driven it yet?

And i apologise to your garage for casting aspersions on the work they've done!

3 days work for £1200 including parts and VAT really doesn't sound too scary to me. I think you've done well there, in all fairness.

Looking forward to seeing some pics of this fine motor on the roads!

£48 an hour labour, not too bad really considering the sheer amount of work needed

Currently out on a drive, she drives quiet well

Brakes are immense

Seems to be an XM thing to get your sills back in a plastic bag...

Mine was pretty flash; it even came with the bags already stuffed inside the sills to carry the rust home in.

Fancy.

Great to hear yours is now sorted and legal - now y'can enjoy!

You'll get used to the brakes, then jump in something 'normal' and shit yourself as it doesn't stop as promptly 😂

I've had the opposite issue... Fabia had the pair of rear brake cylinders replaced at the MOT because they were fucked. Turns out the stopping power increased... massively. The look on the young lads who were watching me pull up to a junction about 50 yards from it was hilarious. 😂

i can honestly say i've never been given my sills in a plastic bag

it's funny, i wasn't at all surprised either!

strange how in 2020 this passed an MOT with 2 minor advisories......makes me wonder if it was an erm, questionable MOT

by no means can i moan at all about the cost from the garage

from looking at the sheets and the sheer amount of work done, especially the rack gaitors it's a pretty good price

would i have bought this car if i'd have known it was like this

HELL NO

but, here we are

i need to see how i get on in the next month or so

i don't know if it's a keeper or not, we shall have to see

Congrats on the passing. What's it like riding on the CX spheres?

very floaty! yes feels about as dampened as the C5

i'd say the ride of the C5 is more composed

Idk about UK law, but what can go wrong if @maxxojust sticks the HIDs back in the car now that it's MOT'd?

He may piss off other motorists.

Apart from that, especially as regards the law: in my opinion, absolutely sod all will go wrong for Maxxo

A Marmite choice but I quite like the look of Morette's and they do bung out a few photons.

I'm not doing it, I'm not being that guy with aftermarket lights that annoys everyone

I don't agree with LED/HID lamps unless they're factory fit

Went on a proper 20 mile high speed run today

No issues so far, got to drive back though

Floats along well at speed

I've got an issue

I don't like it as much as I expected I would, its a nice car etc but I dunno something just feels a bit off with it

Not bonding with it either unfortunately

Do I make it nice and keep it, or do I make it nice and sell?

(Hello as a newbie)

I’ve enjoyed this since you bought, Maxxo. I’d see if there’s interest now if you can make a bit of cash out of it. I’ve found mostly done projects sell a little easier as people want to do their own thing.

Shame you aren’t gelling with it, but that’s how it goes sometimes. :)

Oh okay, got it. Here it's illegal to use hid unless there's self leveling and headlight washers so was wondering if it'd be equal there

Morettes suit almost any 80s-90s car well tbh
