Lovely car mate!

Those Maxima badges were in Renault badging style for some reason. Coincidence? Probably.

This has been for sale for yonks, infact I thought it had sold. It was originally offered on CarandClassic for £2500. After an unsuccessful stint on eBay with a £1200 start I messaged the owner and bid him the start price. He declined. Later last year it appeared to have sold for about 900ish but soon was listed for sale again. I was ready to bid the seller once more but all ads disappeared, I'd assumed, until yesterday, that it was sold.

It's in my watch list again but alas no room at the inn, or any money, or the desire to travel that far again for BL chod. Still, I haven't cracked open the wine yet...

It's badged as a Maxima but i haven't yet worked out what that means.

Run-out model to clear the decks before the next-gen Sunny was launched, basically bolt-on stuff added by the importers.

Looks good. Watch out for the head gasket (I think they can even crack their head), and they are prone to rot on the rear inner arches (open the boot, it'll be obvious).

I've had a couple on the road, must get another one day.

yeh, I had an uber low mileage Sunny a few years back and it popped the headgasket twice within the space of a few months. The inner rear arches were also rusty! I think it had done 22,000 miles when I got it back in 1996 (mine was a Y plate and still had the chrome door mirrors)

Nice to drive though and ran like a swiss watch.

*edit* here is a pic of it!

Go on, who's feeling brave?

CAR IS NOT STARTING UP. DIAGNOSTICS MACHINE HAS NOT SHOWN ANY FAULTS.

NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS!

Empty fuel tank?

Billy, I don't know what it is you've been smoking recently, but keep at it - between you and Hereharehere this thread has given me more groffles over the last week than pretty much anything else.

It's back, after a wee while of not being for sale:

This Manta looks tidy enough:

but it probably'll end up being bought for its gearbox and distributor.

From the seller of the Mk2 estate:

'I have a full Calibre that still has all its parts'

They're rare than a rare thing now, wonder why he doesn't sell it complete? Might mail him just to see if it's my old one.

'I got an expert to look at this for me and here is his full report: He says it's white and has alloy wheels. One of the tyres is slightly flatter than the others, there's a rust spot on the bonnet, the headlining is hanging down and the the n/s/f spotlight is at a slightly jaunty angle. However it's got cloth seats which are worth £11,000 and if I scrapped it it's worth £275,000. I only want £500/£650/£575 with/out tax for it. Contact De-Tom Wazzo Pantera Selecta on Newcastle 431 for more details'

'Drivers seat fabric worn was like this when we got her'

Cavette's buying guide part 609: If the seller says any damage was done BEFORE they bought the car it's automatically worth eleven times the value had they caused the damage themselves. On that basis I recommend you rush out and buy every damaged/knackered/rusty/badly seated vehicle you see as long as the previous owner was resonsible.

I bet these are quite a blast and this seems good vfm. In case of any future random purchase of one of these fine steeds is there anything to look out for*?

I might have to un-add this to my watch list. Hopelessly shit advert but I feel it should be in my garage so I could sneak down in the middle of the night, lube it up and BUFF ITS TITS OFF.

I've not heard any horror stories myself, but reckon the performance may be a little off the boil. Good cars if you and the missus like a bit of steamy romance. I can see your enthusiasm for the car is just bubbling over!

Just how miserable could a holiday possibly be? Buy this and find out yourself.
