Wot's wrong with the plates? I think they look good, and legal on a 1970 model, shirley?

They might be legal, but they don't look right.

That's what I was getting at. Personally I think anything after F reg (1968) on black and silver plates looks RONG.

Hey Mash, do you know of any old Hull cars with TAT registrations? ;)

I've had one. TAT607W on a brown Volvo 244 DL.

Hmmm....Cars were supplied quite a time after 1968 from new with black and white plates and I'm quite happy for anything built before 1/1/73 to have black and whites...Looks right to me.....My 1960 Landy had those raised white digits on black though I agree that something as late as 1970 might look more authentic with pressed silver on black.

+1. My Volvo 164 is a 1972/L and that has silver on black plates - they're staying as they suit the car. And when I finally get round to getting the Renner Six an age-related plate and the proper early rear lights, that will be getting them too. There are a few cars that I think look odd on black plates though - Granadas, Mk3 Cortinas, Ro80s, Citroën GSs - early ones of these are technically old enough to use black plates but I always think of them more as '70s designs and expect to see them on yellow / white plates (preferably with raised lettering).

I'm not normally one to bump up my post count with a '+1' to simply agree with the previous poster, but that 216 really is very nice.

(Edit, sorry Wuvz - wasn't having a dig! You posted while I was typing!)

Here's a Granada with VM powah. GR2 photography and it needs a few bits doing for a test, but it's cheap enough. It's in Crewe - GR8 4 Bo11ox?

From back when VWs were reliable is this fantastic Golf 4+E That's a 5 speed gearbox, but 5th gear is so high you've got to be plunging downhill doing at least 90 before it's useable. Older ones had an economy gauge on the dash with a little pointer for instantaneous mpg, and a light that tells you when to change up a gear.

My old Passat with the 1800 carb engine would give at least 40mpg even when driven like a twat, I reckon this should be a touch better.

Perhaps not Autoshite, but I love these anyway. Park it up in Halfords, go in and ask the spotty oik if they've got an airfilter for a Lycoming V8 8)

Here's on for Station, 216 VDP with leather, long T&T for only £395.

This was my nextdoor neighbour's car until very recently. The dents to the front panel were caused by him running into another car,he's in his seventies now,had to have a new headlight aswell. The sills were fitted at a bodyshop for 300 quid the pair. When he first got the car it was leaking oil from the corner of the head gasket so that was replaced. All in all the advert is fairly accurate and my neighbour sold it for 250 not to replace it with a Rover 825 but a smaller car. He's got a D.reg Mitsubishi Colt which is also one previous owner and low mileage.

Arrgh. So close to being the right spec it's unreal, but it's not injection and some fucktard has removed the AC and the TRX alloys, so that's me out. Otherwise I'd be up there waving money at him.

Local plate to me as well. Probably supplied by J.Blake & Co. Probably nigh-on impossible to sell new with being the lame duck carb version.

That is very close to me. Interesting little project. Not sure why it has a Q plate, I wonder whether you could apply for an age related registration on it.

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of old tat that is stashed away around here.

Why would you want the TRX alloys???????
