Rightnider Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 It’s going to be a busy weekend for me with two collections coming up. I’ve just started my journey to Stockholm where the first car is located. I haven’t seen it in the flesh, but if it’s alright it is ‘peak car’ in my opinion. First leg of the trip. Wife drove me to the train station in Helsingborg. Train to Lund HillmanImp, Heidel_Kakao, Shite Ron and 11 others 14

Rightnider Posted March 25, 2022 Author Posted March 25, 2022 Train from Hässleholm to Stockholm. Tonight I’ll be staying at my aunt’s place for a pick up tomorrow and the 600 kms home for a dinner with friends already invited when this car showed up. Shite Ron and Lacquer Peel 2

Rightnider Posted March 25, 2022 Author Posted March 25, 2022 @Shite RonI’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. Maybe I should call it ‘peak daily driver’. It’s not old enough for you. But it will only be for summer use.

Supernaut Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Am I right in thinking that means it's got a V8 and AWD? Nice. Rightnider 1
wuvvum Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Don't think we got that particular configuration here did we?
Crackers Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 That is the sex. V8 Estates are for winners, so this being AWD must make you a true WINNAH. Eyersey1234, Rightnider and LightBulbFun 3

Rightnider Posted March 27, 2022 Author Posted March 27, 2022 It equals to £ 1.73 for petrol and £ 2.13 for diesel… Lacquer Peel, Shite Ron and Cord Fourteener 3

I have a brilliant silver 2001 E320CDi estate as daily driver / dog limousine and it is fantastic as a modern car, the only way it could be improved is with a V8 petrol engine, well bought! Looks like you have a very nice travel companion today, I also had a Mk3 Mondeo estate just over 10 years ago, not in the same league as your other cars but nicer than the mk4 Mondeo. Rightnider 1
Schaefft Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 I didn't know the V8 was available with awd either but I guess it makes sense as the ML was well established by then. I'm equally surprised that such thing as a rust free W210 exists in Sweden. Rightnider 1
Rightnider Posted March 27, 2022 Author Posted March 27, 2022 @Shite RonAre you my British doppelgänger? Jags, Granadas and 210 estate? I’ve had 320 CDIs in the past as well… The w210 is spacious, comfortable and retains a bit of driving experience which was lost in the w211. @SchaefftI don’t think there are any rust free W210s here. This is alright and had a respray some five years ago. Unfortunately the owner only replaced the right front wing, so the left one is due. This being 4matic means it’s built in Austria, and those seem to have better rustproofing, which is probably why it still exists. Shite Ron, chaseracer and Dyslexic Viking 3

Rightnider Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 I’m sorry, @Shite Ron, I’ve never had a Cortina. A TVR would be great! Maybe later?
Cord Fourteener Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 Nice Mercedes! If I was a rich mafia boss or a dodgy Russian oligarch I would definitely drive an AWD V8 Merc to do my shopping in. I drive a diesel Mondeo, however 😄 Rightnider 1
Rightnider Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 I’m certainly none of those. I didn’t do any thorough background checks on the previous owner, but he didn’t strike me as an oligarch. But who knows?
Rightnider Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 Today was the day for my first collection in more than two and a half years! Nothing too fancy or interesting so no dedicated collection thread. One bus, one train to Malmö. The dog made me company and found a friend at the seller’s place. The car is a 2012 Mondeo 1.6 TDCI. Wanted a 2.0 but this had a new clutch and recent timing belt. The seller seemed like a genuine chap, had owned it for four years and ordered a new Focus. It is absolutely no ball of fire, but the trip computer showed 4.5 litres/100 kms (63 MPG) when I got home. Don’t know how correct that is, but it’ll be interesting to check next time I fill it up. Westbay, djim, Floatylight and 6 others 9
