JJ0063 Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 First wash in my ownership! yes oui si, straightSix and AnnoyingPentium 3
JJ0063 Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 I wasn’t told when I bought it but I noticed a cut out in the splitter and found a towbar! And electrics tucked up out the way. I have no hitch, had a lay under it and can’t see any brand or stickers, @Barry Cade not sure if this is anything you’d be able to help with but I assume I need to find out what brand/model bar it is to be able to buy a replacement hitch? The actual bar underneath is tubular which a quick google looks like a genuine LR one, however that trim on the splitter looks a bit shit so I can’t think it’s factory. Cheers

Cheers Usually dealer fit genuine bars will have the plastic trim with the OE cutout. Take the black trim off the bottom of the bumper, should be 2 half turn clips or a couple of 10mm's underneath, then pull the rest off. You might be able to see a sticker on the crossbeam, or take a pic and post it up. Looks possibly Brink, there may be a sticker on a door check ? Edit. Genuine LR bars were made by Brink..the only ones I can find with a round crossbeam. JJ0063 1

Need to take it off to retrieve the electrics as someone’s taken them off the bracket to hide them so I’d like to test them and fit them back in place. Hopefully a simple case of finding the right hitch, new bolts and we’re away! Barry Cade 1

JJ0063 Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 I’ve been with RAC for my breakdown cover for years and years, I noticed a while back I had a ‘loyalty reward’ of their key replace cover, thrown in for free. The evoque came with 2 keys but one was dead, fella said he thinks it got water damaged. Phone this RAC key cover and explained the key had gone through the wash, £30 excess to pay and this morning they sent a locksmith out. No longer than 10-15 mins later I have a brand new genuine LR key, so 2 fully working keys now and he confirmed there are no other keys registered on the ECU either. Great service! paulplom, GrumpiusMaximus, yes oui si and 10 others 12 1

I must admit every other experience I’ve had with them has been fucking awful. This probably went better as it’s a third party just uses the ‘RAC Key Replace’ name wuvvum 1
JJ0063 Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 Browsing on Vinted the other day and spotted this from UK Custom Covers, up for £20 (£80 new) Really good quality and properly tailored to fit so it keeps everything contained and tidy. yes oui si, GrumpiusMaximus, rainagain and 2 others 5
JJ0063 Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 First FTP today, pretty sure the OSR rear shock is knackered. Really hard to explain but it’s got a knock from that corner which I can feel more when letting on/off, it almost feels like the sensation when the watts linkage went on my Discovery, Jacked it up and there’s no obvious play in any of the bushes or joints. Quick look on the evoque page and there’s quite a few posts of similar symptoms from the shocks going, and of course being the Dynamic model its got the electric magnetic or whatever they are shocks fitted so they’re twice the price! Not to worry! Wibble 1
warninglight Posted February 24 Posted February 24 These may have the same sort of design as the Freelander 2, P3 Volvos etc. If there was still some Ford in the design? If so the top mounts for the rear shocks are a weak spot and are a fairly quick job to swap them. I've done a few, most recently on our XC60. They make a hell of a knock when they let go, and you might only feel the movement in the shock with the weight off that wheel. If it's not trying to bounce you across the road on bumps I'd hope the damper itself is still working. JJ0063 1
JJ0063 Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 Managed to order a complete rear strut including top mount/spring/shock etc for £95 posted off eBay, non genuine but willing to give it a shot for that price. Also may have found a heated steering wheel and squib for half the price they usually go for and accidentally* pressed buy it now yes oui si, Popsicle and Wibble 3
JJ0063 Posted March 1 Author Posted March 1 Too old for this shit. Nut came off the pinch bolt fine but the actual bolt was seized solid, enough fire eventually got it out but it took way longer than it should. New strut fitted, don’t think it’s fixed it but it’s done. I wonder if the caliper is sticking, it does it when the cars hot and only notice it when you pull away. Makes no noise at all when going along, just a couple of weird noises as you move off from standing. It’s the OSR only. Pat Earrings and yes oui si 2
Cento16v Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Does it make it worse if you are setting off with the steering locked over?
JJ0063 Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 11 hours ago, Cento16v said: Does it make it worse if you are setting off with the steering locked over? No it’s just from a stop, it’s nothing transmission related thankfully - that was my first concern being diff/haldex I did a journey to Mildenhall and back yesterday - just over an hour and a half round trip and it was fine so I’m hoping the suspension was actually the issue. Going to the NEC on Friday for Crufts so it’ll give it a good chance to show itself then if it’s still doing it! yes oui si 1

JJ0063 Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 Saw this on eBay for £50, people seem to rate them for fuel economy benefits. Stage 7 y0! Took it for a run, definitely removes the lag. Like it.
