JJ0063 Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 Fitted the new track rod ends this morning, surprising easy - expected they’d put up a fight! did the old count the turns method which clearly didn’t work: however popped into ATS and they were dead so £59 and 15 mins later it’s aligned and the knock has finally gone! Think I'm going to have to buy myself one of those steering wheels, so much nicer than mine, what carplay unit are you using? I've been pissed around by BimmerDirect as I purchased one off them in December and they sent the wrong one but I don't want to buy one that uses the aux input really.

It’s going to be for sale probably tomorrow funnily enough! I ordered a flat bottom, they sent that one and wouldn’t take it back so I bought another one. Got a brand new genuine airbag for it too. Can have it for exactly what it owes me without the aliexpress wait if you want.. should be around £210 for the wheel and airbag plus whatever postage comes to. The CarPlay was already fitted when I got the car but it’s an MMI box, I’d prefer the complete screen as even after owning the car what 7 months I still try and touch screen the non touch screen most weeks… Jazoli 1

JJ0063 Posted February 24 Author Posted February 24 Starting to think the BMW may have to genuinely go soon, slightly hesitant as I really do love it but the business is moving quite quickly and I’m finding myself lugging large items round that I can’t then fit us, the dogs and dog show stuff in at the same time. Something like a crew cab transit, transporter or Trafic would fit the bill. Not my dream mode of transport but I’m quite keen to keep the momentum of the business going.

JJ0063 Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 I’ve had a sticky OSF caliper for a couple of weeks, well, slightly sticking. Had a spare hour today so thought I’d whip it off, clean the sliders up etc. As per, nothing goes to plan but I think it was almost a blessing. I literally pulled the caliper like I’ve done on countless other cars and the flexi snapped straight off. There’s no way that wasn’t on its way out already. Scary as fuck how easy that literally fell off. The flexi on these have a normal union then half inch solid pipe to the flexi. New flexi ordered from Amazon for £20 odd, gave everything a good clean, just need to clean the sliders up, fit the new flexi and bleed it up. Glad I’ve done it though as I’m convinced that pipe could have given way at any time. Bren, Popsicle, Wibble and 3 others 2 4
JJ0063 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Fuck my life. Undid the other end to replace the flexi and that has snapped off too 🤦♂️ No idea if there’s enough pipe there or if it’s going to have to be replaced. Never done a brake pipe, no tools and no idea what I’m doing. It’s how an ornament until I can get someone out. 😂 Popsicle, wuvvum, Wibble and 2 others 5
yes oui si Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Like you said, thank fuck that didn't give way with a car full of people and dogs. Hope you can get it sorted. Popsicle 1
wuvvum Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I had a flexi give way on the MOT rollers once. Scary as I'd been out for a hoon in the car the night before and done a couple of fairly heavy stops from 60* mph.

Bren Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Years ago I was practicing emergency stops in my SD1 just before my test when I lost the brakes due to a leak. You never forget.
JJ0063 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Managed to bend the end round, clamp it with some grips and then have the scariest drive of my life to my mechanics who is going to cut and join a new piece of pipe for me on Tuesday. Luckily only the other end of the village but that was horrible. 2 hours ago, Matty said: Was wondering where youd been JJ. All good in the hood pal? Still about! JJ0063 Posted Saturday at 22:26 Author Posted Saturday at 22:26 Finally sorted, got the car back Thursday evening with a new brake pipe and flexi. Caliper was still sticking though so I ordered a new one and fitted it today. Finally sorted and an unintentional brake fluid change has been done by losing all the fluid last week!
