Chopped I think, they certainly don't look like a pro after market kit. Good idea about R-R, might stick it on there, cheers.

If you want i can copy and paste your advert onto the VODC forum, everyone on there seems to worship the tarmac Vectra's drive on.

Not really worhty, methinks - I emptied the boot, removed most of the rubbish including the christmas-themed coffee cup from a big chain & an NEC carpark ticket from last November, gave it a vacuuming, cleared the driver's side washer jet, and presented it to the test centre. Next thing is putting all my stuff back into it then driving it to Penrith library tomorrow.

BX can has tax. £215 - that's almost as much as I paid for the car! Must be worth £500 now then...

Washed and polished the Mondeo this morning ready for my holiday tomorrow to Newquay in Cornwall, It will be the furthest I've ever driven i think!

Any technical tips you'd care to share on clearing the washer jet? Perhaps do a separate tech tutorial thread on that?

I couldn't find a suitable podger to clean the jet with in the garage, but back in my youth I had a pierced ear and still have an earring in the shape of a skeleton so I straightened out the wire and used that to clear the jet.

I can see how this might be a little unbelievable, so here's a photo of the earring:

The Cavalier went for MOT this morning - it passed. Nice. :)

Nice one, pictures of said chariot please for a fellow Cav perv.

Here's a quick shot of the Cav at Malham Cove from a couple of weekends ago - note the crack to the front number plate, caused by me reversing the Imp's overriders into it  . It's a real pain in the arse because that's not just a dealership plate, its a factory dealership plate.

I shall do a thread about it probably sometime next week.

KWAL!

I hope that's 1.3 but the side trims indicate something a bit posher.

Posted

It's a 1.3L! It's a bit of an oddity really, the chassis number indicates it's a luxury bodyshell (CDi or SRi and the like) and it does have a factory sunroof, but it's got the 1300 engine and keep-fit everything.

If it had been an 'F' plate one you could almost understand it as it was probably a run-off model that was knocked up to get rid of it before the Mk3 came in. Had a similar one in a different shade of blue yonks back now. Fifty quid all in out of the auctions but I spied my arse with it one day and smashed it to bits.

Trust you're planning on keeping it, it's bloody wonderful to see cars like that.

I can vouch for how nice the Cav is having seen it in the flesh when I got the Saab. First time I have seen one of that spec for a long time.

There's a Quantum kit car local to me, used all year round. It's just come by on a transporter looking very much like it's been in a field, all muddy mess and missing windscreen. Hope no injuries, and it's fixable, I'd miss seeing it around.

My epic 2-day, 300 mile bike ride to Amsterdam is less than a week away, and I'm just beginning to get butterflies

Looks like the weekend for it, two friends of mine are cycling from London to Leeds in aid of Parkinsons UK.

Never fret, the schmokes will sooth you on arrival.

Currently in the kitchen loosing my finger tips sanding these down for paint.

Got valves, puller and bead slip/sealant in the post. Just gotta remember where I put the undercoat and brushes and I'll have them hammerited by the time the post comes.

Arrived for the wifes car - I love the smell of new rubber.

Snap.

Got two brand new Winkywankywoo 205/40/17s today fitted with new valves and wheel balances from Demon Tweeks for £82.00 the pair.

Posted

Yippee, Mundano is fixed!

Two new tyres, a trip to local Ford dealer for some new studs, car breakers for the wheel nuts and all sorted. Luckily I hadn't butchered any of the other wheel studs or nuts so just five new needed for the o/s/f wheel.

Have found the n/s/f track rod end is knackered but they're only about £9.00 new inc. postage from an internet auction site.

Took the Scimitar up to my local MoT place today and stuck it on their ramp. The chassis is actually bloody good - the galvanising seems to have done its job. Hopefully it should be reasonably easy to get it through an MoT when the current one runs out at the end of October.

While I was under there I adjusted the rear brakes up and topped up the diff oil, and I took the opportunity to rewire the overdrive so it works on all gears, in an attempt to make up for the unuseable second gear. It seems a lot slower to engage in first than in the higher gears though, so it probably won't be much good for accelerative purposes, but it will come in useful in heavy traffic when the previous choice was either screaming the engine in first or labouring it in third. I've been offered a secondhand 'box for £80, which I may well go for providing the car passes its MoT - it's going to need new rear shocks at the very least.

Did the cv boot on the sera, could I get the joint off the drive shaft, could I buggery. After much swearing, hammering, abuse, battered fingers then finally stabbing myself in the hand with a screwdriver I stripped the other end off after removing the entire shaft off the car and built it up in reverse.

So apart from some finishing bits, I.e a passenger mirror glass it's about ready for a test :)

Further to my post up the page this weekend I have mostly been sanding/painting/sanding/painting/keeping the cat away from these.

Very pleased to have them nearly done, need a second coat but the hard work is gladly over :D

Got someone collecting the Saab this week. Letting it go for not much cash because he is going to restore it. Well that is what I think he his going to do with it. Still taking tyres off and flogging them off separately.

Also put deposit on new T25 camper. Went to view it and the woman selling it waxed lyrical about everything. She has got loads of documentation, had LPG tank safety checked and really looked after it. They are only selling it due to a new baby. Means I am going to shift on the current van.. well after I have swapped the wheels over. Anyone want a T25 in gold for £2k?

Off-roading again. Very grin-worthy in the ol' Range Rover.

It has its faults but I increasingly like this ol' tub. Got some off-roading in as she might well be in her way to fund other things. I hope this BX is worth it!

Only problem today was losing a rear bumper corner. A good excuse to retrace my steps on a favourite lane and sure enough I found it. Will try re-fitting it tomorrow...

Also took the Mini out for a quick hoon, as it's had a quiet couple of weeks. Had Mondeo-man right up my chuff exiting the village (a steep hill and a 1-litre Mini do not equal fast progress). However, he was noticeably absent as soon as we came to some bends, mainly because I just didn't bother to lift. Caught me up on the straights, but couldn't handle the pace on the bends. Very amusing to do this in a car which was launched over half a century ago!

I took a trip to Darlington last Thursday to pick up my latest tat purchase :) It did the return trip excellently, and I fitted a new set of tyres to the alloys on Friday, and spent this afternoon fitting a new stereo and thinnersing the remains of the stickers off the doors. I am proper in love with this old crate, it's great :D

Looks great! Can't remember many of these even when they were new, wish I could say the same of more recent Mitsubishi pickups...

I had to do work on the Datsun at 7.30 this morning :x Booked into a show up in Norwich, but after bringing it back from the MoT station I noticed it wasn't rolling in a very free manner. I guessed that the handbrake had been given a fairly vigorous pull during the test and that the adjusters had wound themselves up too much, so the shoes were binding.

That's exactly what had happened, with the help of the two threaded holes thoughtfully placed so you can wind in a bolt and ease the drums off to access the rear brakes, I would them back out again and it worked. Given my lack of mechanical skills this was a reasonable achievement, we got to the show and it didn't rain as much as I'd feared so ultimately a pretty good day.

The front bumpers are standard (MSD) GSi affairs, think the side skirts are standard too, but don't know enough about these models to say for sure. Quite like the look of the car tbh, it's just the ridiculous amount of lowering it's had that annoys me.

Motor Sport Develoments or summink like isn't it? MMmmmm cool maybe a bit too 8) to be shiteist?

Great special edition, i'd love one of those, apparently they go like fook, bit thirsty though eh? Still it looks like a very nice car you have there, maybe fit some with some slightly more standard roadsprings?

I'd love that.....

They jump off when you leave the tarmac.

If it's the V6 GSi job the engine is just good old fashioned fettling I think. Bit of head work by MSD and Omega 3.0 camshafts.
