THE GUBBERMINT ALWAYS KNOWS BEST

Knocking from the BMW has stopped as quickly as it started. Had a look around underneath and nothing seems to be out of place, so I'm at a loss as to what was doing it but I'm not complaining. I can only guess a bit of debris got trapped there, or the bit in question has fallen off .

NC, there was a recall notice about knocking BMW limited slips. If it sounded like that, could have been? Maybe check the dif oil. If you end up deciding to immolate the thing, please take pictures for me.

Mine doesn't have an lsd, was definitely coming from the front as well

They're meant to be run on 5/30 aren't they? Or you end up shafting the cam followers.

5W30 for cold climates, 10W40 for temperates. Autodata states both are OK. Mine's been run on 10W40 for the last 145k miles (changed every 5k), no bother. Still nice and quiet and runs well.

Laguna gone. About 25 minutes after getting it :D

You still owned a Laguna for approximately 24.75 minutes too long.

It was quite dark though and I don't think anyone saw me in it.

Returning to oil, you can easily get 10w40 mineral oil. The 2CV prefers this drink, though it'll happily take 20w50 in the summer months. I get it at Morrisons where it's pretty darned cheap (ie about half the price of Halfrauds).

my 'stolen' scooter passed its MoT yesterday - about £90 and two hours to replace the damaged / broken bits so still a tenner cheaper to fix than the excess on the insurance.

Got the hub for the micra today along with my new breaker bar. Trying to take of the hub nut means I now have one broken breaker bar

going to get the bar changed then try it again next week.

Hmm. Money burning hole in pocket and need* to buy something stupid/irrational. Outbid on the 928 so currently eying up some other old shite instead. Time is running out for the wheezy Mondeo in a shell suit I've just been to view so don't think the vendor is overly keen on my shit offer.

Still, there's always some fantastically shite old British tin I could buy site unseen from a seaside town. What could possibly etc...

Oddly enough the same Le Gonner may be on it's way to yet another new owner tomorrow! 8)

Oddly enough people seen to want it! No accounting for taste. I should of lobbed a bit more than £100 on top if I'm being honest.

Ah bugger.

Can anyone tell me if the lump in my Prelude is interference or not? The cambelt snapped on the way to work, slow speed and no audible valve clattering noise. Whats the chances of chucking another belt on and all being well?

Its and '89 2.0 12v twin carb.

Two stroke engined waterways going shite purchased today, hoping to score some blue oval dizzler shite tomorrow.

Re Honda engines (and acknowledging that this is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT), my dad had an Acclaim about 25 years ago and the cambelt went on that, at startup. Not knowing what had gone wrong at the time, he cranked it on the starter until the battery died, and then a farmer towed him round the car park with a Land Rover for about 15 minutes trying to jump start it.

The garage it was taken to slung a new belt on and it was as right as rain.

This is what I ended up with. I got 4 litres, API SL, for a tenner.

Apparently, the bloke who tried to rob me at the cashpoint last Wednesday evening has been caught. The right guy this time. Second time lucky.
