MAN CAVE MEMORABILIA INNIT M9

For £10, maybe.

£1,000?

No.

I do like the seller's optimism, though.

"Just needs a little TLC."

I'll assume TLC is industry code for 'somebody else's car'.

5 more days to run so may sell for more than twice that!

Rear windscreen could* be worth saving, along with its 'Hodgsons of Retford' sticker. The rest of this 'ringing kit' is absolutely FUBAR!

Can't you buy a brand new panelled MK2  shell from China? Theres loads of bits on it anybody doing such a rebuilt would quickly spend a fortune on. Plus it gives you a legit way to a genuine identity for your new shell rather than buying a logbook or having to register on a Q

I believe you can, but built and welded to what standard? That said you could say that about any restoration I guess.

MST will sell you a new Mk2 shell or even build a full car, built in Wales.

There was a lot of kerfuffle amongst the old Fowad community about the Chinese shells being furrin and shit quality, they seemed to choose to ignore that a 40 year old escort shell that wasn't straight when it left the factory and was now like a patchwork quilt after years of abuse/hitting things/being hammered back into shape was hardly going to be in its first flush of youth anyway.

Most new shells would be turned into rally cars anyway,so would be seam welded and have a roll cage fitted.

There was somebody selling the ID of a Spridget on a FB group t'other day.

One guy pointed it out as a ringing kit and got banned for "being a dick". The seller threatened to sue him for defamation. 😂

I may be wrong here, and no doubt someone will put me right, but what the fuck would someone purchase a cars ID for if not to give that ID to another car?

“Souvenirs”

I suppose theoretically there are certain cars for which new body shells are available, and if you were to build one up with all new parts then you’re dealing with whatever the old SVA process involves these days, or into Q plate territory. So “reshelling” a period correct identity would seem tempting even if there’s nothing left of that original donor car. But in effect, that’s still ringing so the bloke on that Spridget forum was 100% on the money.

Clearly the seller, wasn't intending the purchaser to pass off another car as the one he was selling the ID for.

In a similar way, gun sellers don't expect people to go out and commit murder, sellers of hammers don't expect them.to be used to bludgeon people, and sellers of bleach don't expect it to be used as a weapon.

Wait. What do you expect an ID to be used for ?
