Might be of interest to someĀ

I'm enjoying trying to work out where all these signs are situated, I'm guessing somewhere between Dulwich and Balham?

I had to Google map it because I thought it was still there but its not. Probably went years ago. Just off to book some dementia tests šŸ˜•

But you do get a bonus InvacarĀ

I think that's just by West Dulwich station (where the railway bridge is), but not much of the rest of the landscape has survived

(also with regards to previous discussion in this thread note the different (original) rear lights and the pressed white on black metal plates on the Model 70 JPH417K)

....

ATE "tin lantern" traffic signals, so much more compact than the awful plastic Mellor design that replaced them.

Still a few of those ā€œpre-Worboysā€ road signs in Jersey, havenā€™t got any of my own photos but Iā€™m sure there was a thread on a website somewhere.Ā
Ā

EDIT: Sent to me by a friend

Hereā€™s one I did see recently, it is presumably not older than the sixties but features an older variant of the bus silhouette icon than the standard one thatā€™s been used everywhere for decades.Ā

Been making a mental note of where I see these, went back for this one today:

Great! Except itā€™s a crossroads:

Maybe they felt the sign for a three arm junction was adequate.Ā

Get paper map and a compass and draw circles centred on each location to the distance indicated, where they intersect should give you a triangulation.

I guess it's because the road ahead is a dead end. Where is that, with Yellow stop lines?

Being a soft southerner there are still plenty of fingerpost style roadsigns lurking around here in Sussex, but also in Kent. One of my favouritesĀ is this one.

Ā

These went through a phase of being stolen on a regular basis, so some now read Sandwich Ham

This road sign was pictured in a school mathematics book I used during the 1970s! For the life of me I cannot remember why it was in the book, but it might have been something to do with symmetry!

Not strictly a Road sign, in the (now) blocked off entrance to a field.Ā

Looks quite official thoughĀ

At East Barnet, what was the A1 back then is the current A1000

Who do you ask though, if the service has been superb?

Quite possibly the road into an old municpal dump or landfill. Some old maps will tell you what was there.

Spotted on the side of the Caley Sample Room pub in Edinburgh. An overgrown sign for Rootes Group service.Ā

Further south than my pics of similar signs at North Dalton and Garton on the Wolds, but that there London is nowĀ about 30 miles further away (only 10 miles more nowadays).

Looks more like Gardener's World, tbh.

I notice this gem every time I travel the A45 through Ryton. But where could I share such enthusiasm, I wonder.

Once again AS serves up a blinder. There's a few more in our little corner of the world, I will endeavour to record them now.

I've seen this one in Crayford for years, the sign is quite new, but the wording to me seems a bit old fashioned:

motors.thumb.png.d99b8872aba75d309c39b6883dd7e413.png

which is a bummer for these guys:

also, with all of the parked cars on Orchard Hill, a bit of a contradiction?
