sorry to hear your bad news Richard, that really sucks.

Just for record, I couldn't understand how that electric car thing won car of the show at RRG11......it's not retro, it's not a ride as it is not road legal and is nothing like the type of car the site was set up for.

I did kind of like it, if nothing else for being different. Certainly wasn't my car of the show however, not by a long shot

oh, for what is was it was o.k, but not retro and a million miles from car of the show. More suited to Max Power IMHO.

Maybe RR should be renamed modified rides?

Slight tweaking and you have what the fundamental problem with the blue corner which I used to love so much. It's full of much more modern cars and has lost alot of it's retro content. I remeber a few months back a load of 70s customs being posted up which were met with derision and negative comments (interestingly, these were left up...) seemingly the appetite for lubberly 70s customs in their full horror had disappeared instead the threads that once perved over old nail, andy saunders' past masterpieces and bizarre hotrods have been replaced with feck loads of rubbish about noughties Celicas with crap mods and the like with repeated "0OOFs" over shitty OMG DRIFTIN SKYLIN, finally dangerous mods are allowed to stand and criticism of these mods in unwelcome because it is about the look not the practically of the cars..... and it is all a bit of a shame because there is plenty of interesting threads still lingering on the in Readers Rides section with brilliant old tat being fixed up, Green Goddess based car transporters and such like.

As for my actual rant, search engines not searching under four characters on forums... complete PITA when it comes to some of my interests (esp. railways) where half the stuff I need to find is using 3 letter names.

I am however looking forward to the RR Gathering. It was a cracking day out last year

I'd like to go to the RR gathering in the Cortina, just a shame it's the other side of the country for me especailly with the Shitefest happening only a month or so before.

I guess i could go up in the Golf though as it's still older then half the cars that feature on the forum.

You can't disagree with anything on RR, or you'll get 'quoted' and replied to by 'V.I.P' or similar. I think the moderators have a bit more sense than 'promote' him, as it would completely kill the place.

That Dude's reply doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

ps It looks ridiculous.

2-1 to you, Crouch and super Johnny Walters.

Wasn't far off was I? Just ex-Chester star Walters letting us down!

Richard: fwiw really sorry to hear your news.

I'm not sure whether to thank you for posting that or put out a contract on you! At last (not being an RR user) I can see what all the fuss is about, so thank you; but... oh god, my eyes! It's not ridiculous, it's vile. Someone please crush it. I can't imagine how it can be safe to drive, in any way.

It was indeed. That said, it clashes with another show this year so I can't do it this year.

I'd totally recommend the Gathering, regardless of what you think about the collective forum 'taste'. There were plenty of relatively mod-free cars there last year, and the Datsun stand in particular had a stunning collection of tin. Loads of shite around too, including Mr Bickle's stunner. Apart from anything else, if you don't derive extreme (almost sexual) pleasure from seeing & hearing an HA Bedford drag 'sleeper' being ragged up the hill-climb track at full chat, you might as well just go and top yourself now :P

yeh, was a great day out for sure, the weather was very good too which helped.

Multistory car park, Paradise Circus, Birmingham. Swung out of the space in reverse. Forgot I'd parked next to a pillar.

Bollocks...

I'm hoping to have the Yugo on the road for RR Gathering, although given my current income I think that's erring on the optimistic side

Much as I try not to get involved with mud-slinging regarding RR's most extreme projects, the utter amateurness of such things as the cardboard wheelarches and then the elevation of its status to that of apparent legend is an utter pile of steaming shit.

Added to that the exhaust sounds like a burst wasp, it is just too much WRONG to be allowed to be regarded with anything but derision.

This is a prime example of what happens when a dickhead buys a decent car,and trys to make it look cool - and instead makes it into a worthless pile of excrement which isn't even worth driving,or giving garage space too

I have long since stopped expressing my opinion on the RR general board. I stick to correcting ViP when he gets DVLA/VOSA/MoT stuff wrong now.

Sounds like a good sport. (The correcting, not the VIP)

That camber isn't extreme at all by Japans standards, somehow I got to looking at youtube vids a while back on the subject. I don't see what all the fuss is about! It's nothing new. If they find a way of fitting horizontal wheels maybe!

Posted

It's just another daft Jap car. Like those mini vans with 20' fins and exhausts. I first thought 'stupid' but they're funny to watch I think [ETA] I'm glad thats not my hobby. It's hard enough having to explain a Talbot Samba to some people!

I'm up for that one! My kind of ride! :D

I love VIP, he is a source of much entertainment, sometimes I do a search and read his recent posts. His only effort to actually do anything to a car basically involved him rounding off/snapping a load of nuts and bolts while attempting to lower the suspension of his Civic, then sticking it up on the FS board as a project.

Bloody weather. Conservatory roof is making a bid for freedom and a pile of plasterboard has been blown into the Mini, scratching one side and ripping the driver's door mirror off.

Money, or lack of. Just found a (suitably shite) Transit camper on the bay of e, it's pretty local and well priced but I haven't got a vessel used for cooking or storing food to urinate in.

Lost the remains of last week's wage packet, had half the house apart looking for it, still M.I.A. Grr....
