In the scrapyard last week, talking to the fellow about his tools who was removing a driveshaft from a car lifted on a forklift. He has nice Snap On stuff, and claimed he had paid over £3k for the lot (socket set, rattle gun, etc). He said the boss had a set also, but he never used them and kept them polished. The bloke finishes the job and leaves to do another car, and shortly after, the second fellow comes over, notices the Snap On stuff, and then claims that they're HIS tools and he paid over £4k for them brand new. About three months ago, I saw another bloke with the same tools, so assume they're actually owned by the boss and they like to make stuff up as they're just bored of working in a scrapyard.

Well, my temporary repair on the wiper linkage didn't last and I had to get a nice aa man with the correct tools to thrutch the passenger wiper in to DTM YO position to get me and the family back from Leeds to Durham. Whilst parked up noticed the alternator sounding a bit unhealthy and of course that's packed in as well*, luckily just as we were parking up. Fucks sake. New cars are wank. Etc.

 

*at least it's either that or all the electrical systems on the car failed at the same time, followed by the starter. Which given what a miserable shit box it is, wouldn't actually surprise me that much.

Just lately, our telly only ever seems to show CBeebies. After the kids go to bed, it usually gets turned off, and I don't feel like I miss a thing.

Tomorrow is my access day for Claim jr so I spent Saturday away from home and at the Claim family home in Merseyside.

 

Ten minutes ago I received a frantic call from Mrs Claim in Manchester to tell me the house had been invaded by the Greater Manchester Police! They kicked fuck out of the door until she opened it and then they demanded to know where Mr ***** was. Obviously being police they refused to accept that Mr ***** was the previous occupant and had actually moved out in 1997 and insisted that all SIX of them come in the house and search the premises! Rather than being apologetic when they couldn't find him they proceeded to warn her about the consequences of not telling them where he was!

 

The only good copper is a dead one.

I work on a 6 week rota, and only noticed today I was working from the wrong week. So that means this week I turned up on my day off to do a full day, took a day off when I should have been in - and no one noticed. my error, although due to the nature of my job it doesn't really matter when I'm there as long as the contracted hours are done.

 

However, since we have an HR department that calls you in for a lateness meeting if you sign in one minute late, and have made me attend a formal disciplinary hearing (as described on this thread) for one tiny mistake, I doubt I've heard the last of this.........

Having had a few run ins with them (many) years back I'm not perhaps always their biggest fan, but not all coppers are bad. I expect some of them are right wankers, just like some of the general public are right wankers, but as said they're not all bad.

I wouldn't do their job for anything to be honest, it seems every day that passed there's another group of lunatics on the streets who don't give a crap for anything or anyone and we need some sort of protection from them.

We can (mostly) walk away from coked up, tooled up gobshites who are spoiling for trouble, but if you're a rozzer you're supposed to stop them in their tracks. Bollocks to that.

I NEVER watch any of these so-called 'talent' shows. Sadly, last night I was a a friend's place & she insisted in watching The Voice. Utter utter bollox. And to make things worse The Italian Job was on the other channel.......

My sister died this afternoon, after losing the fight against lung cancer.

 

She had been doing quite well, despite losing her mobility and being in considerable pain. She finished a short course of radiotherapy on Wednesday, which was aimed at giving pain relief, and hence enabling her to become more mobile and have a bit of a life this summer.

 

Last night, she became very short of breath and was rushed to hospital. She deteriorated overnight, and eventually passed away this afternoon with her family around her. She was 44 years old.

 

To say I feel like I've been kicked in the teeth is a massive understatement. We were always close, even if we didn't see each other as often as we'd have liked.

 

RIP Mandy.

In all honesty the total lack of anything worth watching on tv is a bit of a godsend at the moment. if there's anything halfway worth watching last night I wouldn't have managed to grout the kitchen floor.
