PC Fools have 2.5 inch SATA hard drives from £23. Only a 160, but it would do for a while.

^^As it should be for the entire period of employment. I should be able to fire someone who works for me if they fail to comb their hair, wear polka dots when I prefer stripes, or if I'm simply moody one day. Ohio is an employment at will state. You don't need a "valid" reason to fire someone. Hey, it's not a marriage. It's a job. You'll leave whenever you want. Why shouldn't the employer enjoy the same freedom as you?

Yeah, that's fucking stupid, and is pretty much the only reason I won't live in the States. California is the same way. One of the most horrendous laws I've heard of, I had no idea it was like that before I went over there this year.

Barrett I'll assume you have never owned and run your own business employing people? if you had you would realise that the Ohio style system would be an advantage not a disadvantage, one of the guys that worked for me cost me £10,000 + and lost a lot of work for my company, resulting in other staff being laid off, all because I couldn't sack him untill we went through all the rigermarole of the employment law......18 months later there was 48 staff laid off and the business closed because of the fact i couldn't sack him when I wanted to......

Obviously it can also be said that some employers would take the piss, thats life..............

Piece of French shit!

At least you've identified your first mistake... (ducks the torrent of abuse that's on my way from the numerous Citroen/Peugeot/Simca fans here... )

Feel utterly shit today. Crap ear syndrome back with a vengence. Wrecked what was going to be a decent day out with Uni folk, one of which we're trying to cheer up because of some personal issues.

ARGH.

Someone who says to the wife, "yes, I'll put that up for sale" but when he gets no replies says "I'll have to keep it, no-one else wants it".

I recently joined a local musician's forum, to try and find some people to jam with, just as a casual something to do sort of thing. It gets boring playing with yourself (yeah, ha ha) and I don't know anyone who plays.

Anyway, I stuck up a post, got a reply from a guy who seemed dead interested, few PM's back and forth and a chat on the 'phone, all seemed promising, we arranged to meet with acoustic guitars this evening. I told him to look for my youtube stuff, explained that it's all just straight to camera and mostly to demonstrate something I just fixed rather than "performance"....

Anyway, this morning I got a PM

dont think ill have much to play with you i watched your yo tube its not for me what ya doin there dont think yell be able to play with me im more technique and advanced player mate . sorry

:( Oh. He thinks I'm not even good enough to consider jamming with. This annoys the crap out of me tbh. The whole point of the exercise was about having fun, and now I'm just pissed off instead. Only bit that remotely cheers me up is that (in the songs I've been learning list he sent me) he misspelt "paranoid" among others. (the list was mostly Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath - so hardly the most technical stuff on the planet anyway)

Bah.

^^ or he can't even manage Maiden, Priest or Sabbath, more like! Sounds like a wannabe Joe Satriani.

It was bin day down my lane today. I was pottering in the back garden when I heard the bin lorry pass by.

When I went to collect the empty bin an hour later it was gone! Walked up and down the lane twice....everyone else had theirs. No sign of mine. Walked up to the main road and along a bit....no sign.

Phoned the council to report it missing and was looking forward to an armed police squad screeching to a halt outside (possibly in a Rover 3500) with sniffer dogs and the like, followed by some beating down of neighbours doors with battering rams, but the council woman just a said "Oh, we'll send you a new one within 2 days." That's put paid to my exciting day. :(

P.S I just realised how boring this post is. Move along, everyone. Nothing to see here.

NEXT!

I once took one of the neighbour's bins in by mistake, it caused some mild confusion.

Yeah, I'm over the rejection now :) and of the opinion that he's saved me some petrol money and a wasted evening instead. He'll just have to continue playing with himself :D (the ironic thing is he was complaining to me about people letting hm down!)

Here's his "amazingly technical" song list..

liven after midnight , .....................judas priest

breaking the law ................judas priest

jumping jack flash .................stones

waitn for an alibi ................lizzy

pariniod .............sabbath

I'm not seeing any Joe Satriani, Steve Vai or Steve Morse there.

That list is a failure by default because it doesn't include anything by Jimmy Buffett.

I agree, he's not much of a guitarist if that's all he could manage, hey even I could play most of those, and I'm pretty awful!

bollocks...i am living a nightmare again...Trying to disassemble the spares laptop and the screen is held to the chassis by a pair of phillips screws that WILL NOT BUDGE. With my history on this, I'm fast losing the will to live....

place all parts of laptop in pile on table

go open door to outside

lift lid of bin

get shovel

sweep parts off table onto shovel

carry shovel to bin and deposit parts in bin

You can get extra points if you do not spill any screws on the floor on the way to bin

wish I could do that, however 4 years of abuse have meant that my own laptop's power supply contacts are fubared beyond redemption. At the moment I'm using the spares one (burnt out motherboard!) for charging the batteries that are subsequently used on the main one!

Surely this is a perfect opportunity to suggest hammering a smaller socket over it?

I registered online for tickets to a trade show at the NEC back in April.

Had an email on Friday 9th September with the ticket details - the show is Tuesday 13th- Thursday 15th September.. ffs.
