The grumpy thread

Two boys looting TVs in Croydon called their mum to pick them up.

A few minutes later witnesses saw an Asian woman arrive in a people carrier with a disabled badge in the window.

The boys loaded up the boot with their stolen booty and then the woman calmly drove away

Moments after a gang had smashed their way into JD Sports. Kids filled their arms with Nike trainers and adidas tracksuits. Boys, grown men, their girlfriends and sisters, even mums and dads – smashing and grabbing in a frenzy of crime

I want these families stripped of their assets and deported to Zimbabwe

+ 1 . A bit of newly instilled discipline 'Mugabe style' might wake them up a bit (I hope).

They are no good to themselves or society and never will be. They have been spoiled.

There could be a good export market in donor organs on the back of this. In death, at long last, they provided something worthwhile to society.

Cameron is talking of allowing water cannons. I thinnk they are missing a trick here. Bring them in on every riot and use something like smartwater in them.

Then all the cops have to do is pay an early morning call on all the known hoods and hey presto there is their evidence; the smartwater markings on them.

The problem then is the court system - a short sentence and fine if they are unlucky otherwise a tag. Wow - that will frighten them into not doing it again.

How about the US way of three strikes and out - three repeats of the same crime and 25 years no remission.

How do we pay for the additional jails - easy; stop sending billions out of this country as foreign aid.

That much smartwater would contaminate the area for ages after too - anyone who went through it to return home, for example, would also be marked. Then there's the cost of the stuff too.

Ahhh, well maybe something like that then - must be better than standing by and watching them loot and wreck communities without any fear of them been caught.

Give the police paint ball guns, but instead of paint, fill the balls with mace. Or the liquid out of stink bombs!

The BBC really are wankers.

One day they moan about the lack of Police action the next they are showing someone getting a beating by the Police, make your minds up ffs.

Apart from Little Red Riding Hood anyone out after dark at the minute with a hood should be beaten on sight.:lol:

Save the trouble and overtime and just put up a couple of Predator Drones...

People who are religiously anti-bodge.

Why, when someone has written an article or tutorial on repairing something on a car do they have to get all smug about it when cutting corners or bodging?

Reading on electronic ignition, he refuses to reveal a problem by saying if you're doing this because you just want one thing less to maintain, then just buy blah blah holier than thou blah.

The same with bodywork - sometimes a bit of filler will do - 'just weld a new panel in'. Is lobbing a 5kg blob of Isopon in there really that bad if it's your car and you're the one who will be driving it around for a few years and fully aware that, hey, it's a bodge job and nowhere near as good as welding a new panel in, and it might start bubbling again when winter comes, etc. :?

He shouldn't have been shot because

a) "he was a great father",

B) "he was an aspiring football player",

c) "he was very popular, and a bit of a jack the lad", and

d) "he had a loving family"

and all other descriptions given to dangerous, psychopaths who don't care for anyone else's life.

I worked in body repairs for 8 years, repairing the original panel properly with filler is far preferable to cutting off the panel.

And filler is still used on a new panel anyway, how does the fella think they blend a new quarter panel in along the door shut and up the c pillar?

Hell will freeze over before lollipop sticks, bits of Cornflake packets and chicken wire are used to repair stuff to get by.

Wifey has just been rear ended at the top of our road. I reckon the car is right off as the rear quarter is creased, the boot floor is bent, bumper is fubar and there are no shut lines on the tailgate anymore. Mind you, towbar as prevented it being a lot worse and the Focus that hit her has crumpled like tissue paper. Wife has banged her knee and was quite shaken up but is OK.

Interestingly the ambulance chasers have already been on the phone, within 2 hours of the accident! Plus the OP insurers have already been on offering to collect the car and bring out a courtesy car.

I got an adams gas refill yesterday. Rather than pay postage I swapped the cannister over at the re-seller they've got in Dalkeith as I was over that way anyway.

When I went to connect it up just there I realised I'd left (like a twat) the bullnose adaptor for the regulator in the cannistor. I was hoping to get some welding done tomorrow but that'll be scuppered unless I can find one locally.

Or better still, some ED-209 units:

If I heard 'You have 20 seconds to comply', that would probably be the quickest-acting laxative ever.

Recently spent nearly three weeks driving about in a 10-plate BMW 320d M-sport Tourer at daft bint who reversed into me's expense.

I can safely say that if it wasn't fucked before, my back certainly is now. Never driven such an uncomfortable, horrible, nasty, cheap feeling pile of shite, a statement I feel qualified to make as I briefly owned a pea green Wartburg 353 Tourist with an orange vinyl interior. Even our Optare Solo doesn't quite exude the same quality of sheer bollocksness.

I was so unimpressed with said shitbox that I bought a very suave, somewhat sooty Cavalier on here which is currently getting it's cambelt done after two weeks sterling service of making sure I didn't have to drive an uncomfortable BMW, although that experience was marred someone by fuckwits trying to break into it, failing (possibly a world first for a Mk3 Cavalier), and then launching a kick at the O/S/R 3/4 panel. Grr.

All has since been largely quiet until a colleague of mine ended up in hospital yesterday along with 21 others when she wrote off one of our Merc Varios...

I had almost the same car (an 11-plate saloon) as a courtesy car when my E21 was rear-ended; I loved it so much I'll probably eventually buy one as a daily. And this from someone who loves old cars.

Don't know what it is; I'm 6ft 3in and not quite the skinniest and I could not get comfortable in it. I did like it's ability to head for the horizon at a million miles an hour but the steering was heavy, the brakes were strange, the gearbox felt notchy, it tramlined like buggery, the switchgear - in particular the cruise control - was the most confusing thing I've ever seen, and although it stuck to the road even in the rain it never felt planted. And the silver strip across the dashboard kept making me think I was driving an Astra. I was actually glad to get the Mondiesel back and have been using it quite happily as it's a pleasure to drive in comparison.

My mate assures me it was the fault of the "M-sport kit" but I think he's telling lies, it's just cos modern BMWs are pants.

i think you will find its gonna be a lot more than that

I think most of the people in court yesterday were sent home with community orders of some description! Not sure how many, if any got custodial sentances. But bearing in mind they are trying to reduce the prison population due to cuts then I think its unlikely many of the "rioters" will get prison sentances.

Most of the reports were of the magistrates' court sending the case to crown court for sentancing, indicating a tarriff of over six month's imprisonment. Which is a good thing.

As this case (from the Telegraph) shows those caught will (rightly) get hammered.

If we have to accommodate and feed someone for half a year, can't we just find one who's already getting benefits/social housing? Sounds like a hefty fine and some community service would've been more appropriate here as well as more useful for the state which will be backstopping the insurance losses (looting is considered a police failure, ergo the taxpayer has to pay...AGAIN).

+1 on those M sport version of BMW.

I think m sport just means a few bits of plastic body kit, low proflie tyres and 'uprated' (ie fuggin horrid and hard) suspension. Like being pushed down the road in a shopping trolley. Audi do it as well. Fook that.......I like to waft.......and if that means going around corners 1 mph slower I'll take it

This grump could be age related

It's the same as the s-line in the Audis. BMW and Audi seem to have got sporty confused with rock hard and uncomfortable. I think a lot of it's down to the massive wheels modern cars have on them. My Audi A6 has 19's out the factory with hardly any profile on the tyres so it rides like a total bastard ,tram lines all over the place and is noisey as anything on the motorway. My boss had an A8 3.0TDi a few years ago, which some how ended up fitted with wheels the size of milk bottle tops but with loads of rubber on 'em. It looked daft but like but it's was supa-smooth and mega quiet. Better than any other Audi I've been in.

My Mondeo ST is the same, rock hard suspension and rubber band tires make it a bitch to drive and the lorry tram lines on the A14 away from Felixstowe Docks mean i nearly end up in the other lane everytime i drive home from work.

Anyone want to buy it?
