I have a theory... the jacknifed lorries AREN'T caused by the drivers... but... by twats who can't drive their cars in the snow.

+1! About time somebody spoke the truth! It's not a theory, it's fact. Also applies to rain (and wouldn't you think the situation would be different to what it is, in Britain where everyone learns to drive in rain?).

car drivers - be aware of what's behind you, and USE YOUR FUCKING BRAIN!!!

Yeah, that's really going to happen. No wonder I have the opinion I have, of my fellow human.

So the US government are suing BP over the oil spill. So this should pave the way for the Indian government to sue Dow chemicals over the 15,000 human deaths and 500,000+ lives ruined due to their negligence before you even mention the environmental damage......?

With the emphasis on British Petroleum, no doubt. Even though that name was considerd obsolete and dropped years ago.

I reckon we should sue America for Sex and the City.

seller writes:-

NO MESSERS, SCAMS, ACCIDENTAL DOG/CHILD BIDS! ONLY BID IF YOU REALLY WANT IT! CASH ON COLLECTION. ..... THIS CAR IS ADVERTISED LOCALLY SO I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION.

fair enough.

strange lack of communication from the seller, no replies to mail messages and phone rings until it goes to answerphone

fine ebay seller then says:-

hi mate, i had the car advertised in my local paper and a collecter has offered 500 for the car and parts, i realise you were the winning bidder but i did state that the car was advertised elsewhere, id be foolish to turn down 500 offer!! sorry if its pissed you off,let me know if your still interested......

hi ben

what sort of response are you expecting?

you let the auction run to the end.

your text at the end of the listing indicates that you would expect a winning bidder to complete the transaction.

this obligation works both ways.

still waiting for a reply....

ebay selling rules

Product availability

When buyers bid on or purchase an item on eBay, they should feel confident that the item is available and will be delivered in a timely manner.

What to do

* You must ensure the items you are offering are in stock for the duration of the listing and are delivered to the buyer, unless the buyer doesn't meet the terms of your listing.

* If you run into an inventory problem that's beyond your control, you're still responsible for letting the buyer know when the item will be available or issuing a refund for the full amount immediately.

What not to do

You're not allowed to:

* List an item that may be out of stock at the time of purchase.

* List an item that you're simultaneously selling outside of eBay.

* Offer an item that may not be what's delivered to the buyer.

I'm going to get very pissed off, very quickly if cockheads like this keep mailing me.

Is Occidental Petroleum still an American company,Norm ? If so perhaps the British Government should sue them for the Piper Alpha explosion.

Ebay buyers...

Guy buys £159 of stamps for £78 then is crying he's not received them yet, despite it being a few days before Christmas and the Mail being arsed up.

Fucking wanky in-shop cash machines. Went to get a fistful of cash from the newsagents across the road. PIN entered, selected £130 withdrawal, nowt happens for a few seconds, then the screen tells me "Request timed out", no cash comes out. WTF? I try again, no dice. So, I went down into the town and tried the ATM in the bank lobby. It gave me money alright, but I am down that £130! Young lady in the bank is very suspicious of me when I query this, and tells me to go back to the shop. Sure enough, the girl in the shop says "We were wondering about that! The machine is £130 over and we can't figure it out."

BUT! "

the shop can't give me the money, and the bank tells me I have to wait THIRTY-FIVE FUCKING DAYS to get my money back. They also told me that these wee ATMs in shops are shit, and not to be trusted.

I shall wait until I get my money back, and close the account. Plenty more banks around.

BUMHATS

That happened to me once, I think the bank sent me a form to fill in but I did get the money back after a few weeks.

Those things are 100% wank, they look shonky as hell and charge a ridiculous amount just to let you get at your own fuggin money. i get around that by never ever using them.

i was caught out by the nasty in-store ATM at my local petrol station.

got a tenners worth of petrol and found no cash in my wallet. used the ATM to get a tenner and was charged 1.49 for the priviledge

And Royal Mail - I ordered a CD from Amazon on the 6th as a Christmas present, Got an email on the 8th to say it's been dispatched but it's still not here, I emailed Amazon to chase it up and they said to wait until the 21st if it's still not there they will credit it, Still a PITA though.

Mind you i appreciate the weather doesn't help things.

Royal Mail are on the verge of ruining my 100% positive ebay feedback. A few things I posted a month ago have not been delivered and I have buyers hassling me.

Those ATMs - I went to a club in London where they've started not taking cards as payment at the bar, they have one of those machines instead. £1.50 charge and the cunts won't let you out to use a machine in the street without queing and paying entry again. So you have to use their machine. I can see this catching on.

We haven't had any mail for several days now, although I've seen them delivering in my road. I'm beginning to think it's because we are on the tail of the round. By the time they get to us it's time to knock off, so they just take our mail back to the sorting office! :(

Post is screwed - but having experienced the chaos myself, I'm not going to complain. Last week's Classic Car Buyer finally landed on my doorstep today.

My Christmas plans may get abandoned too. Given how difficult it is just getting around locally, I'm not sure I fancy trying to get to Devon and Sussex on Friday, especially as the forecast seems to be for more Winter weather before then. Milder in the New Year, so maybe I'll just postpone things for a bit. I'm not that grumpy though - weather happens. We've got food, we can survive.

I'm still negotiating on a Land Rover, but even if I get that before Christmas, I can all too clearly recall that 4x4 or not, we'd have been stuck in a queue on the A470 for four hours. A horse would have been a better bet rather than more driven wheels.

Tried to book an Acer laptop to return for warranty repair - DHL won't come until the 30th December...

(Tried booking a normal parcel as a check and it's the same with Interparcel's site/carriers too).

Yep. All very well being able to negotiate the snow and ice, but not much use if you can't get through due to vehicles blocking the road! :(

i have a parcel booked with DHL via interparcel, was supposed to be picked up on 10 days ago on the 10th december to go to Italy. No one has been to collect this parcel in the last 10 days (someone in my house 24 hours a day) and Interparcel website indicates a 27 minute wait on the premium rate phone line for enquiries

i have sent them several emails requesting pick-up date amendment or refund of my 50 quid - no replies

My winter tyres left Carlisle on the 13th.

They went to Tamworth and have been sitting there "in a trailer" since then.

Thanks UPS (via interparcel).

I know this as I called Interparcel (the call took nearly 40minutes) but I used their geographical number instead - 01293 558872.

Its the same connection as the premium rate one.

i feel your anger and pain

thanks for the phone number - i ll pester them some more in the morning

These courier companies are all MASSIVE TWATS. Interparcel are a great example of the breed.

The only way I can think of to deal with them is to pay with a credit card, then when they inevitably let you down, complain to the credit card company and get your money back that way. Trying to communicate with these courier outfits is like hitting yourself repeatedly in the face with a red hot mallet.

Tayne, I may be being dense here, but how on earth did a delivery from Carlisle to Aberdeen end up in Tamworth? Surely these places are in opposite directions?

On the subject, I am thinking of using one of these companies to post some bits to myself when I go to Finland. Can anyone suggest the least-shit and most reasonably priced one for international deliveries?

A5 is right, they are all 100% shitehawks. The whole industry seems to be operate on a basis of blatant lying and general pissing about.

I've used www.internationalparcel.net for stuff going to America with no problems yet.
