To the moron in the Mongdeo earlier in Guildford. Once you've entered the one way spur that joins the A3 sliproad, you CANNOT realise your mistake and REVERSE back onto the main road while I am trying to enter said spur.

He got a long blast on my BX horn, refused to budge, so I had to mount the kerb to drive round him...

Yeah, Visa Delta is what I have now, Visa Electron I had 20 years ago...

Oh, and you can only complain about insurance companies when one bankrupts you (wrongly) and it costs you almost 5 large to sort the whole mess out..

Today's complaint... keyless taper pulleys on interference engines. Whose bright bloody idea was that? This morning the LT was hard to start, made nasty noises and threw out hods of white smoke. The last time it did that it snapped the cam in half while I was trying to diagnose the problem :( and it cost me an engine. It had spun the cam pulley and hit a valve with a piston. This time I stripped it on the spot to check, been on most of the day working inside the greenhouse like cab and this time it has spun the deisel pump pulley on the other end of the cam, but seeing as it is in bits to just check that it gets 2 belts and an oil/filter change in the morning. Bloody VWs, lol.

Ignorant cunts.

Finally got my car MOT'd, went round to the back door of the garage to take pictures (as I couldn't see any way through to the viewing area), garage bloke basically tells me to fuck off as "we are not insured for you down here". I hate being told what to do by anyone, and by a company I'm paying - well they can fuck right off!

I will use a different garage when I get the Maestro Mot'd. What annoyed me most was his attitude - if I behaved like that towards a customer I would be facing the sack or at least a disciplinary

They may have been rude, but why did you want to take pictures of their garage?

They are many legitimate reasons why they wouldn't want to you to do so. It may be your car, but it is in their property.

Retarded customers. As his modem is taking 2 days to deliver (by another courier company) this is apparently breach of contract and he will sue. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow he will drive to our head office and demand to speak to the CEO then go to Fair Go (the NZ version of Watchdog). Yes you can really imagine the leading with that "Outrage as man has to wait for a product to be delivered".

But hey, apparently he's a lawyer apparently. Was trying rather hard not to laugh at him as he got increasingly irate. I'd love to tell these people to fuck off and take their custom elsewhere

I wanted to take some pictures of my car being MOT'd - what's wrong with that?

I don't care that much, but they've just lost a customer over it.

I think the point here is not that you weren't allowed to take a photo of your car, but that you were not treated as a valued customer whilst they explained why you couldn't - is that about right?

I really, really, don't watch the telly, but ... my freeview box.

I was happy with four/five channels. You have now given me 90 channels of repeats of awful programmes, people selling absolute rubbish, pop music videos, millions of adverts, programmes disguised as adverts, music videos disguised as adverts, etc.

On the rare occasion I switch you on, I don't want to have to wait 10 seconds for you to do some technical, hardware related warm up bollocks. When I press the ON button, the screen should go all staticy, and then the TV should come on within two seconds. Also, when I switch you on, don't go into stand-by mode. I didn't switch you on to go into standby mode. That would be STUPID.

I do not want to be greeted with the option to update/autotune, etc. I switch the TV on because I'm so completely bored or I can't sleep and need something on in the background. I don't want to have to stand there waiting 10 minutes for you to update a new slot with a shopping channel selling diamondante or a music channel filled with black men rapping about killing people/women whoring their bodies. I don't want a £20 freeview box deciding what it wants to do for me, because it's manufacturer's presume I'm too thick to want to include a new channel in I would never, ever want.

Also, when I lose the remote control, I don't want to have to bin the box because it doesn't have buttons on it.

I also got decent analogue reception - I'd much, much prefer a grainy, staticy screen, than audio cutting in and out, and pink/green blocks all over the screen - which is like receiving a transmission from hell, which it always does as I live on the side of a hill. You have given millions of TV watchers nothing with your switch to digital.

Ah, glad I'm not the only one pissed off with Freeview. Ok, so my box is a reconditioned one that cost me all of £11 from Ebuyer about three years ago, but when it wants to update, which it wants to at intervals varying from six months to a week, it locks up and refuses to do anything else for about ten minutes.

Makes me wonder why I bother when we rarely drift from the conventional channels anyway. Well, apart from Dave...

I'm with you on that too. I barely watch any TV and it invariably annoys me when I do. Nothing to do with the programmes but because of the modern technology that is being foisted on us which doesn't work as well if all you want is to be mildly entertained for a bit.

I like that QI, but 'Mock The Week'? How can people say this isn't scripted?

Makes oi larf. Like TG. Does it matter that it's scripted?

Posted

I got an 80GB Alba Freeview recorder (Argos, £70) and it's excellent. As well as the HDD recording facility, it can pick up channels my old Freeview box simply could not "see"

Mock the Week is unbearably clunky and unfunny, it's a depressing state of affairs when what is classed as 'comedy' on BBC2 is outclassed comedically by the likes of Coronation Street.

Posted

Frankie Boyle always made me laugh on Mock the Week (although interestingly I thought his stand up was shit). There are moments of cleverness but I can take it or leave it now.....

why does andy parsons always sound like he is sat on the toilet curling one when trying to be funny???

Indeed he is.

As for freeview boxes. Mine are set to automatically update at 4am. They do this all by themselves and I don't get to see the "Please update your freeview" message, because it's already done it.

Can be a bit confuddling when the odd channel moves, but I'm happy as a pig in shit now "Yesterday" (The channel formally known as UK History or summat) is back working after 6pm. I pretty much stopped watching 'non-Top Gear' TV when that channel used to die at 6pm every night. I'm just getting in from work then, I want to see a documentary with Fred Dibnah or Nazis, and now I can again :)

TBH unless you has asked them first, or even explained what you were doing and why - I think I'd have told you to F*** Off too.

If someone came into my workplace unanounced and started taking pictures they would get their camera back in pieces!

You could have been a competitor, a private detective or even a health and safety nazi for all they know.

No Freeview where I live. They were planning to turn the analogue signal off without replacing it with a digital signal but it seems we're going to get digital after all.

As Station said, an iffy digital signal renders the TV unwatchable. At least with analogue you could live with a bit of snow and it had to be really bad before the sound was affected.

I think TV has had its day anyway, they'd be as well turning it off altogether.

On the subject of freeveiw and tellies, why do people think that ordinary tellies with be virtually illegal when digital comes in?

Posted

yeah and they believe the hype that new is better, even when the old one works.

I'm led to believe that the Digital Radio broadcasting that is being used in the UK is making use of a Digital system that is already outdated.....

get told that if I want to pay on a credit card its another £1.

Penny pinching bastards.

To top it all I get home and said Pifco Fan is FUBAR and blows circuit breaker on the ring main.

Bastards.

That's actually BREAKIN THA RULEZ on mastercard/visa contract, you can't charge for using credit cards! Can't believe Makro do this?

Hi,

In reference to your email below I wanted to say how this is a new policy that we have brought in with regard to credit card and cheque payments which total less than £100. This is due to the increasing cost of processing these transactions by the banks and by doing so allows us to remain competitive on the price of our goods in store.

Since Monday of this week we have had notices at reception and on every till point but these may of been missed. The procedure is that the cashier explains this at the start of the transaction but in this instance from your email below it appears not to be the case so for that I apologise.

You mention about paying by cheque but I would like to point out that it is also cheque payment for goods totalling less than £100 which would also incur the £1 processing charge.

Surcharge (or additional charges applied by a particular merchant) is regulated by local legislation. Visa rules and regulations do not permit surcharging however where local laws permit surcharging, local laws take precedence over Visa rules and regulations.

Now fair enough about the Visa (as for Makro's prices being competitive thats a laugh) charge, but im pretty sure that for a personal cheque they can not make a charge.

EDIT:-

Apparently they can. So Im off to buy some vaseline as I dont like being dry bum raped to give a company money.

He knew exactly who I was and what I was doing, he was simply a rude twat. I wasn't in the garage, I was outside and the door was open. My problem is their attitude towards paying customers, that's just not how you behave

A few weeks ago the local Nissan Stanza disappeared from its drive to be replaced by an E reg Corolla. Now the Corolla is shite, but not quite as shite....and the Stanza has now been deleted from the DVLA record so it has been scrapped. Well to top it all off, I was driving past the house that had a Fiat Strada SuperSport convertible rusting in the front garden today, and I noticed an estate agent's sign and no Fiat in the garden
