The extra money for the NHS is apparently going to come from the "Brexit dividend" even though Brexit is going to cost us money.

Without trying to be political, prove it.

No one can, they can say what they'll think will happen but until it does there is no proof.

When I said Jeremy Hunt was good at avoiding the question: he said "forecasts can be wrong." This is true, but every single forecast, including those from the National Audit Office, says we will be worse off in the short to medium term. Even Nigel Farage is on record acknowledging this.

I can't prove that the sun is going to rise tomorrow but I'm confident in saying it will.

Anyway: she spoke specifically of a Brexit dividend. They're not going to pay us to go away. That's total fantasy.

(I am trying to keep this away from whether I'm pro leave or remain, btw, just discussing this mendacious statement from TM)

I think the real scandal here is that we are very nearly two years from the EU referendum and NOBODY, the public, May, Johnson, Davis, Hammond, Corbyn, devolved administrations, government or opposition has a single fucking clue what is going to happen.

David Cameron just lobbed the ticking time bomb in and fucked off to laugh from the sidelines.

Shambles.

Aw c'mon now, I can't believe none of them know what is going to happen, facebook, forums, twitter  and Instagram are full to the brim with political heavyweights who know exactly what will happen, and have done since before the referendum.

The world will go on, the sun will still rise, Mr Jones and Mr Singh will still share a ride to work together to save money.

Something's will be more expensive, something's will be cheaper.

Politicians will still say whatever will get them elected/ make them popular/ score them points.

Euro TV will broadcast pictures of starving babies because in post Brexit Britain that's how things are as a warning for the others not to leave.

Life will go on.

Mr Bollox will have finished his Dodgy Dodge and set sail for Euro Horizons and I applaud him for putting his money where so many people have put their mouths and doing what he said.

Weasels. Definitely weasels.

The same ones which make my mouse only work on one port on my laptop, and my thumb drive on a different port, but never both at the same time.

Delete the drivers in device manager, sometimes they just bugger up & refuse to work.

I don't think anyone ever said they would? the 'dividend' was coming from not paying them billions for fuck all.

Places like the Highlands are full of signs saying 'built with funding from the EU', so now we can do that directly & not pay elevently million extra layers of incompetency to waste the money before it comes back. However it all depends on how much money the country makes to see if the savings offset the short/medium term hit.

Agreed that her words were shite, but then all politicians talk shit. I'd still trust her further than Corbyn, he just wants to destroy our country. She wants to get richer from it so it needs to be successful for her plans to work.

But I think we're breaking the no politics rule now?

Please don't fall into the trap of thinking that Trump isn't something new. There have been lots of charlatans, crooks and con-men before but it's rare for them to get into high office. He is dangerous and should not be normalised.

Nixon, Reagan, the Bushes and now Trump - that's nearly 50 years of charlatans, crooks and con-men as Republican presidents. Trump is just a progression of these creeps.

Well as people talk about the rise of AI and the robotisation of the labour market, surely we can just pump all the decision parameters into a computer and let that make the decisions?

In this shot, Clive is asking the computer whether an increase in welfare spending will lead to increased consumption in the high street. Meanwhile, to his left a young Charlie Reid from The Proclaimers is calculating the optimum walking distance to impress his girlfriend

Theresa May telling an absolute, outright, barefaced lie on the news this morning. Whether or not you agree with her politics, it is outrageous to tell lies of this magnitude.

What would happen if you did that in your job?

Be more worried what happened if I didn’t.

My ST220 has yet another fucked rear brake calliper and the MOT is up in 2 weeks.  I am getting an acute bout of can't be arsedness with this car and its friggin rear brakes.  I may sling it in for MOT with the fucked calliper and see if there is anything else it fails on (rear subframe bushes have been an advisory since time immemorial and I really don't want to do them).  It might be time to bid it fairwell.

I will be sad if I have to get rid, but 26mpg is also getting pretty wearing with fuel at £1.30+ a litre.

Perhaps, but this is the first computer I've had here that hasn't had a "Designed for Windows XP" on the front of it.

It actually says "Designed for Windows 7". Very modern. (Xeon).

Ahhh usually 7 gives you a different background colour.

Win 7 is fairly solid, usually.

I like W7, it's solid & has the best interface MS ever produced. W8 onwards is wank to use, I have to use it upto server 2016 at work & it still pisses me off that nothing is as easy to get to.

Sitting at Eurotunnel Calais waiting for my train that now has a 15 min delay so another hour to wait. Clutch has slipped with more than a feather weight on the throttle since Le Mans 300 miles ago and now slipping so bad uncertain it will make it on the train

Agreed but I do like 8.1.

I have ran them all over the years but Overall the Windows systems we do have (Server 2016) are running pretty sweetly and I quite like 2016, HyperV is ok. Apart form my 8.1 machine we only really have 2016 in house and in the wild.

Maybe the new clutch will be a bit lighter?
