That's one of the reasons I got "smart heating".... it sends me a text if my house gets too hot, and if someone boosts the heating (i.e the kids walk in from school, hit the boost button because it's colder than school was but still warm enough) which means I can remotely turn it off. Optionally I can make the Sonos say "Stop messing with the heating, go and get a job or something".

For the speeding ticket issue, I got photographic evidence of mine (actually my ex's, ha) through with the NIP - but they'd half-arsedly blanked the speed out with a biro which took me 3 seconds of holding it up to a window to read it was 42 in a 30. Now it seems they tell you the speed but don't give you the photo?

Still, might be worth counter-reporting that someone has cloned your plates, and then surely the coppers in Naaarfolk will have to supply the photo to your local constabulary as evidence. I'd bet it's not an identical car, there'll be some distinguishing marks. Round here they don't bother at all, the Vectra I saw bilking at the local petrol station was wearing plates from a Micra.

Just phoned the local police to report that my plate has been cloned, they couldn't have been less interested if they tried, 'you'll need to speak to Norfolk police and or the DVLA'

Never even took the reg. Service as expected.

Phoned Norfolk, who were obviously aware of the challenge to be even less interested than ours and met it with outstanding merit. Apparently driving around with someone else's number plates is of no concern to them as long as the legit owner responds to their letters in a timely fashion

I k kW it's going to sound unhelpful but what proof do you have they've been cloned? It might just be a mistake with the computer miss reading the plate on the speeding car.

Ring Norfolk Police with the ref from the letter and if they don't have one send a letter. You know it's not you so there's no need to worry or anything.

So since someone else is using mine I might just go out and get some new ones made up with a number of my choice.

Police in being spectacularly useless SHOCKER

This is nothing new back in the late 80's I sold a Renault 15 at auction a few weeks later I got speeding tickets and one for a broken exhaust. It turned out that the buyer had been using my name as well. I went to my local cop shop (with a manned counter 24hrs remember them eh) and reported this bloke who was pretending to be me. They were uninterested then as well, told me to reply to the letters and not worry about it.

Well, since their ANPR equipment meets the evidentiary requirements to bring criminal prosecutions, I'd have said that ought to be enough to merit at least a note on record that someone is potentially using this number place fraudulently, but apparently I just wait for the next crime to be committed, might even be one that gets me a ride in the police car with the nee-naws on.

Unfortunately I can't contact the ticket office until Monday because, being public sector, they only work Mon-Fri 10-3!

Dear internet service provider,

If I wanted to use your site and content filtering tool I would have enabled it myself. Please don't turn it on automatically "for my protection" again if you want me to continue as a customer.

Thank you,

Annoyed internet user.

Took the dogs out as per usual and there was a woman up there (no arse smacking!) with a little dog in heat... every boy dog in the area was congregating round it with GREAT interest. This woman was just parading the dog up and down oblivious to the carnage she was causing. I put Chester on his lead and dragged him away to the opposite end of the park so he could wander again and fuck me if she didn't come over with little dog pursued by pack of other dogs!

I had words (not PC, possibly sexist, definitely rude) and then I sodded off and took the dogs to the beach instead where my two had a swim, rolled in the sand and then got the back of the Bentley so dirty it will take a team of Polish car cleaners a month to tidy it.

There, sexist and racist in one go!  :)

I was gonna say that.

Providing it's not being run on though.

I aren't saying it isn't someone who has cloned your plates I'm saying it's all done automatically and it might be a mistake the computer that does it isn't infallible and that's why it takes a photo.

Its a shit you have to wait till Monday but that's the way it is with most stuff like this

I didn't see the point. There was 2 big chunks out of the sidewall, and a flappy bit. It was on my mind to change it soon, I was just hoping it limped on a bit.

If it was on my car I'd just drive it until it went flat, but it's the car the children use. So I like it to be reliable (he says after putting a pilot tyre on it...)

If the buggar had a spare I might have just pushed it in and left it, but no spare.

Just fill in the form...usually there is a bit where you can't name the driver and they want a reason. Put your reason ie you were 100 fuggin miles away. When they threaten to take you to court write a nice letter about cloning and lack of police interest.

I used to run a large fleet and had this a few times......when you are really calm and welcome the court threat they start to listen.

Mind you even when you get the nfa letter it will be phrased very grudgingly.........

Joy, lady in an i30 pulled out infront of me, leaving me nowhere to go. That'll be getting written off then as she 'thought it was best to phone the insurance.'

Good job I've got the dashcam and her insurer isn't disputing the claim.

Just what I need at the minute.

Don't be so sure, someone who knows what their on about will be along in a minute but you should be able to buy it back for 50p, kick the dent out of the wing and roll with it on a cat c.

From what I've read on the internet anyway. It's my worst nightmare too, especially since my cars are worth minus figures to anyone who cares, our insurer would probably write the xantia off just by looking at it as it is now...

You know you are being a slovenly (sexist natch) pig when the (black) dog has been in the bathroom rolling around and comes out covered in white dog hair!

By back and repair is the plan, mirror and wing in right colour I've got lined up for £100, door will need spraying as its all scratched from the mirror twatting off it and the alloy will need refurbing, but it's a custom colour so will need matching it all doing..

I've spent almost £2.5k on it since buying it, it's brand new underneath, all polybushed etc. Pretty gutted.

Turned the central heating to manual to dry some clothes yesterday, accidentally left it on all night and only just realised now. That'll have eaten up a fair amount of gas and the house is still only sitting at 18C after 16 hours of the heating being wound to max...

Try one of the Lakeland electric heater rails. Very cheap to run and no need to turn the heating on to dry clothes. I'm mean, but think it worth the money.

That a Type R? The badge might save it.

Yep, I hope so, only 400 odd left as they're worth nothing whole.

We've had one for years, it's ace! Works fine as a non heated airer too

Someone's parked their car in my other parking space which 99% of the time I've lived here has had one of my other vehicles in

Been here all day and it has a seriously stoved in rear bumper and tailgate.....

Is it a driveway or numbered parking places? Not sure if you can get them removed from your numbered parking spaces like you could if was you drive though.

As said above, get your own quote to get it sorted, preferably by someone you know. I'm willing to bet it'll come in cheaper than getting a bodyshop to do it at insurance rates. Do not let anyone take your car away. If they want to get it assessed, an assessor can come to your house. It's annoying for sure, but at least there's no debate about liability. That's when things get really annoying.

My son brought me an Alexa Dot - he was given three in LA when there last week.

So I have had to fiddle with the phone to get the software from Amazon.

Blasted thing is doing millions of updates and is nowhere near installing the Alexa software yet.

I hates phones :(

Get dollywobbler to quickly get it in the next issue of retro Japanese, then send a copy to the insurers to show how valuable it is to be featured in a national magazine as a unique, mint example of a rare car...

Just make sure you leave updates on, that tends to happen if you've turned them off and then want a new app it has to install all the updates first.

It's safely on the drive, after telling them it's not going anywhere and they can come here, too many horror stories!

I was almost half tempted to go and pick the parts up to repair it already, I'll probably wait and see what happens to it before buying bits.

Had the whole credit hire car stress as well which had been shite.
