Went out to dinner last night, daughters 30th, just a little family do at a really nice welcoming Sicilian family place in the town (Sunday night so not to encroach on her Friday night whooping it up), i don't really drink but ended up demolishing two bottles of Shiras between son and me, bloody nora did i have some horrible violent dreams or what,  glad to wake up.

DRLs and bright headlights are two different things. If I turn my headlights on, my DRLs drop to 5W bulbs and become sidelights. Plus, the safety aspect is not other drivers really.... It's people stepping out into the road, or kids, or cyclists. Especially when the big trend is for every other car to be painted in a shade similar to wet tarmac, I'm going to stand by my opinion that they're a good thing. Seriously can't understand why you'd make your car less visible on purpose.

 

And I promise this is not a dig at anyone, I agree that headlights are getting brighter, but there are vision issues that manifest themselves as heightened sensitivity to spots of light. If it's so bad you feel you can't drive at night, Specsavers do a pretty comprehensive vision test including retinal scans for free. That's not me saying "OMG you must be blind, get over it" but it could be a more serious problem.

The rear wiper on my 306 is hopeless at best. I cleaned the car yesterday for the first time in a while and as ever I washed the wiper blades thoroughly.

The back one was absolutely minging, took six or seven washes to get it clean and it was really really black oily/sooty.

 

Obvs this has nothing to do with the face it's been backed against a wall to park then left to tick over for a few minutes every time as thick clouds of veg oil smoke clear up.

I made a fatal mistake - I posted my audi service book to Liverpool audi rather than incur a 40 mile round trip. I put in a stamped addressed envelope (as advised by the service department).

3.20am this morning our burglar alarm goes off,look at the clock the correct time so not a power cut.Dressing gown on and grab the bat,all the lights on and rush down stairs to turn it off so as not to upset everyone in the street.

 

A look around the house and no problems so head back to bed,did you check the garage asks Mrs V8,dressing gown back on,grab my keys 3.30am i am standing on the drive checking all the garage locks, all fine.So back to bed.

 

I am lying there thinking i didn't check the extension doors,it will be ok, i didn't check so back up to check and all ok.

 

It is now 4am i am back in bed but can i hell go back to sleep.Back up at 4.17am standing in the kitchen making tea.But i did get to watch 3 hours or so of chasing classic cars.Hopefully i will sleep tonight.

Yeah Star Wars can FRO. Not that I am hearing too much about it but other people are. Which means they ask have I seen ANY of them...I mean I was around when they first came out so I must have done back then, right, huh? No. I fucking didn't. I walked right past the Odeon or ABC whatever the fuck it was and went and did something interesting at 18 years of age. Probably tried to get in a girl's pants up the Mecca or blag a go on a mate's DT125 or summat. The problem is Cheggers I was one of those there in May 1977 - the films had a huge impact on my life.I have much to thank George Lucas for.

Indeed if it were not for these films I would never be the sad bastard I am today.

Our office christmas party tonight, I didn't go but that meant a whole day of being asked by colleagues to explain why im not going!!

Ours is on Wednesday at the Halfway House, it's one of those "All you can eat for £13.50" jobs. I wasn't even asked if I wanted to go, and having looked at the list of attendees there aren't really that many people going I know or like, so I don't think I'll be missing out on much. 

 

My grump is that today I was delivering to a house with a shared driveway, the van was slightly over the drive. Some old cow sat in the road blowing her horn repeatedly, I just ignored it and then when she didn't get a response she came alongside with her window down, moaning about me blocking the drive etc...I told her I'd only be five minutes and carried on, assuming she was the neighbour of the person I was delivering to. Next thing was, she'd turned around up the road and come back, straight past the van (so the whinging was for nothing) and pulled onto my customer's driveway. Turns out I was only delivering her daughter's Christmas shopping! Blah blah blah, could have moved forward a bit to let me in, causing a big traffic jam etc. I explained that sometimes you don't have any choice when making a delivery, and blowing her horn and shouting at me was not necessary. Some people eh.
