The road round the back of the house is single track. I drop the Ma off at the wider bit, and then I have to reverse to get into my parking bit. My idiot neighbours think it's a top idea to drive to 1/2 inch from my rear bumper and lean on the horn. So I stick it in reverse and wait for them to move out of my way so I can park. Dozy bint doesn't move a bastard inch, just starts leaning on the horn more in a don't squash my kia shitbox sort of way. Fine. I move forwards and as close to the edge as I can. They then play squeeze down the side, windscreen full of conifers because it's not wide enough for 2 cars. More horn, more evil eye. Stupid bitches.

TL DR:

Kia picantos are driven by fuckwits. (my sister has 1 too. QED).

Solution:

Switch off car,get out and lock it. Slowly.

Ask impatient twat to give you a shout when they are feeling more reasonable

Retire to your house.

Road tested the 75 yesterday, its running at about 102*C and no life from the cooling fan which should have kicked in by then....Having it linked up to a T4 diagnostics on Friday but i'm fairly certain I know what the outcome will be. Front of the car off and new fan please.

On the plus side once this is done that is one of the more common 75 faults ticked off and sorted.

I had to go on something called a 'bus' today. Is it the law that of the other passengers one has to smell of piss, three look like the kind of people who'd stab you to death with a blunt elastic band and about 53% of them have snivelling colds and coughs? Also ONE POUND AND NINETY PENCE to go a couple of miles.

My parents like the new Wrexham to Chester buses- large comfortable seats, free wifi and usb chargers and they can have a glass of wine with lunch without needing to drive home. The bus stop is outside their house too and it's free for them.

I have to say though, Easter Saturday when I drove them and my godmother to Chester for dinner was a revelation. I didn't know people got drunk at 7pm to wander the streets in high heels ( not the men; they were too busy looking hard in t-shirts ) in Chester.

I'm sick and tired of people referring to stuff from the 90s as "vintage".

It isn't "vintage". It's newfangled tosh!

The cutting discs I got the other day from Screwfix are proper wank. They will only last about a foot or so before they are fucked.

Going to get some more tomorrow but does anyone have any particular recommendations for some that are actually made of stronger stuff than the metal I am cutting. It was Ebaur 125 x 2.5 x 22.2 which have been fine in the past but they were sodding awful this time.

Hmm, ADHD and Aspergers assessments round my neck of the woods takes about 3 weeks on average to arrange.

No idea what mental health services are like round your way but here once assessed and told you have Aspergers there is feck all that is offered after that. You might be lucky and have a social services team but don't hold your breath. You might be best getting in touch with the Aspergers Society in the interim.

I always bought bluespot/klingspor when I was using a couple of dozen a month, they seemed to last as well as each other, and a lot better than silverline etc.

Oh, in the end I started buying Dronco as well, they seemed slightly better.

re cutting discs - i have come to the conclusion that a reciprocating saw is probaby better than an angle grinder for big 2mm panels!

I usually use the 1mm thick Clarke ones from Machine Mart. Nice quick cut and last pretty well.

Not sure how much they cost now, but they can't be that expensive or I wouldn't buy them.

Cool, will see if I can try and find some of them tomorrow. I bought a pack of 5 and used 3 of them cutting off the sill. I do actually have a load of thin ones that are probably better suited but they keep breaking and when you have no idea whats behind the metal in places its only a matter of time before we get a new picture to rival that guy with a disc through his mouth but with it being me.

North / South divide?

Think mental services up here are a bunch of lazy bastards. Took them 3 months to acknowledge email from doctors and put me on a waiting list. Going back Friday to try my pathetic best at being forceful.

I would have thought that was hard work? Does it cut right through it? Might be worth looking into in the long run.

am looking at buying one - it's £35 plus £6 for five blades from machine mart - it's basically a superfast hacksaw - and will supposedly cut up to 6mm. Yes, I'm sure it's slower, but at a quid or more a disc and each one disintegrating after a foot, the little extra time taken may be better spent than the cost of discs.

Unless you spend a couple of hundred, a nibbler can't cope with 2mm steel.

Slitting disks last loads longer if you are steady on them and don't "dig them in" too deep - Only let them drop about 5-10mm into the panel. It seems to spread the load on the disk so it's got less PSI on the cutting edge and the abrasive can do it's job rather than just burning and chewing whatever structurally holds the disk together.

If you let them plunge in too deep it's cutting a at a much narrower bit of steel so thre's more pressure on the cutting edge and it seems to wear them out loads quicker.

A mate of mine uses them and they last about a minute and green smoke comes off. He'll shatter more than he wears out, but I've maybe snapped one or two in my life at the worst and I must have done hundreds of disks in.

If you have air this sort of thing is good: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-cat118-sabre-saw

Though looks like they've redesigned it from the one I've got. Mine is quite happy to take cut down broken blades from the bandsaw.

I've also got a plasma cutter which is a nice toy, but I do find cutting bits out on a car I use the air saw more to do the final cut as It's too easy to go too fast with the plasma and cut bits I didn't plan to. Plasma is great for cutting 6 inch off a 4 foot square chunk of new steel though.

Get a plasma cutter it's amazing! Very fast and easy, I can't cut straight with it though :-)

the correct procedure in this instance,

  1. apply parking brake
  2. switch of engine
  3. exit vehicle
  4. lock vehicle- dont want it stolen
  5. go into house
  6. make tea
  7. drink tea
  8. go back and park car

Fucking London Underground.

Apologies to anyone on the A3 this morning between Putney and Wandsworth who witnessed a portly disheveled looking fella mincing down the footpath around 7:15. That was me, late for work and absolutely busting for a shite.

That's all

Oh dear, there you were minding your own business in your van when Bang Bang, the Dark Lady drove into you.

One By One, you counted the broken components and realised you were a Prisoner up here in SVM land.

If I Could Turn Back Time I'd have stopped this happening.

Hopefully the hire van will be a Dead Ringer (for your van) as you have Many Rivers To Cross to get home but be wary of leaving your van.

A band of Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves might strip your van for parts, Just Like Jesse James.

The Van is still in Scotland.

when ever i stray into town i never, ever see anyone that his hanging right, they are all fucked up round here, on a genetical level!

Local ghost town shopping centre always has some knobber stopping you to get you to sign up for some shit, no wonder it's ghost town, everyone is sick to death of them.

Today it was a credit builder card, the lass got in my way, asked me what my credit history was like, I was taken aback (and trying to get away) but she blocked my way. I then got the spiel and said I didn't want it. "But it's free! Everyone likes free things!" Wow, it's not like there's a million other fee free cards out there. Said I didn't want it about five times, this was rebuffed with asking me if I was 18, she was just about to fill in an application if I'd said yes. Got asked which cards I had and credit limits on them! Fuggin cheek! I should tell them to sod off but I'm too polite and always get my time wasted. Was surprised at the invasive questions though.
