Excellent four days off!

BUT!

BpCkNuY.jpg

Someone's put a massive scrape up the arse of the MX-3 over the Easter weekend.

I can't think who it might be (walks up the road and finds massive, obvious scuff on the bumper of a plated vehicle).

Cheers, 'anonymous' cretin. Thanks for scuffing the best panel on the car - it looked awful anyway.

Bah not my problem, drive off and carry on with my day, besides its only an old car.

Boils my blood.

If he doesn't come forward the council are gonna be thrilled when I claim off their insurance. Because I will.

Wifey decided it would be nice to have a drive out to Palm Springs in the Cal. dessert in her new open top TR6

Was she trying to recreate that scene in the classic* Russ Meyer movie Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! ?

Good work if so.

(Yes I know that's a TR3)

Dugong:  Sympathy, that looks like a bad one.  Doubly maddening, somehow, if you can see who did it but presumably a. not prove it and b. not do anything about it anyway.  Is most of the black stuff off their bumper, in which case the worst of it will clean/polish off?

So, back at work after 4 days off, seems like everybody has turned into window lickers:

Arseholes the lot of them

I haven't been playing music stupendously loud in it, but I think at least one of the front speakers have died in the Xantia judging by the strange noise they're now putting out.  How annoying.

Posted

Xantia speakers are notoriously weak, having flimsy paper cones, it doesn't matter how quietly you play stuff. Take the opportunity to fit something more robust.

All Citroen speakers are! First zx ones were ruined, xm benefitted from new speakers all round and the current zx has Sony speakers in the front a d ruined originals in the rear!

Y'know........this is uncanny.............. Yesterday I described my solution to cats using sprinklers as a deterrent, this was years ago in the UK, with wires and water hose running across the ground it was not hidden or pretty at first.......motion sensor was screwed to a stake that was bashed into the ground etc.

.............. Auto sprinkler systems are common here in California.

This morning I got in the truck and found the thing full of water,??? .........soaked?........everything, dash, seats the lot........ OK so the windows are open but I'm unaware of a storm?....after 30 seconds of hard thought I manually turn on the sprinklers.

Cracked sprinkler unit, at some point before the crack got bigger it must have been goin straight into the truck cos there is at least 5 gallons in there...................FUCK.

That "RAM 1500" badge conjures up the delightful image of a mildly-updated Rootes 1.5 lump clattering happily away under the bonn hood.

Top shite upgrade is from an Italian company called Phonocar. Well priced - I can't recommend them enough.

Basically the things that make it a no are:

People who say I have a **** and expect you to be able to work it out from that.

I think if they tell you they have a ****, they're actually asking to have the pool ball shoved up said orifice, whichever that might be.

Some stupid cow in a Merc SLK at the lights with an ambulance behind her. Everyone else was moving out of the way and this dozy bint just sat there oblivious to blue flashing lights, sirens and horns going.

I repeatedly pointed behind her and eventually she realised what was happening.

To show her appreciation she then drove into the cycle lane I was on 10 yards in front of me and weaved all over the road.

Half grump, half grin, but first an apology; to all those who have a Volvo I might've fixed something on mine.

I have cleaned all the PCV hoses on the Council Estate to try to stop the sodding thing covering the engine bay in oil and attempting to set itself on fire. This has been a success* which is A Good Thing.

Unfortunately the Council Estate and I are now blood brothers...

Excellent, I can expect mine to spontaneously combust in the next couple of days then.

Actually, if you haven't already, chuck a tin of this in it:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WYNNS-SUPER-CHARGE-OIL-TREATMENT-FOR-PETROL-AND-DIESEL-ENGINES-300ml-/170759789852

I (or rather, Philibusmo with my hinderance) cleaned all the PCV pipes and replaced the obviously full, original filter box back in December but recently the crankcase pressure suddenly got worse and it blew out the dipstick on a long drive.  I can only assume there was still a blockage in it somewhere which shifted or got worse.  It continued to spray a mist of oil out of the filler cap as well.

A tin of Wynns Super Charge as recommended by michael1703 seems to have worked wonders, no more oil leaks at the moment.  I'll probably put another tin of it in when I next change the oil as well.

It's okay, stand down... dribbling again. Arses. Will see if a can of that stuff can be procured.

In other news the Sigmund Cox 740 will be getting the head pulled off next week... fingers crossed for two fit bricks in short order!

I have to get it out. Stop painting everything fucking green. Stop 'blinging up' Ladas and put the proper grill back on it.

Okay back to normal now.

Feeling really low at the moment - Astra has a stuck caliper which in turn fucked the discs and pads up.

Spent a small fortune buying a good secondhand caliper and brand new discs and pads. Go to fit it all tonight and firstly I can't get the disc off because of the stupid shitty securing screw which promptly decides to round off as soon as I look at it and secondly, the caliper isn't the problem. It's the flexi hose which I think has collapsed, as I found out when I jabbed the brakes and the disc refused to move when I released the pedal.

To add insult to injury, the hose is now leaking because the banjo joint is so fucking rusty it won't sit properly on the new shiny caliper and so is now currently pissing brake fluid on my driveway.

That and a generally shitty week at work being dictated to and being made the scapegoat has made me feel like I'm drowning and I can't see a way out.

Stock control error fail. Yeah there's another 1000 bag of black dice. Bzzzt, wrong! After scraping round there's 51. Ideal* for exploiting other people being out of stock on amazon. Chuff all left of most colours so another 15K ordered. Do I feel lucky that they'll have stock or will send them this week? No.

Also gut ache. Could be IBS again. Or could be my turn for coeliac. Or stress.

Today's mechanical lesson: automatic transmissions work much better with the correct amount of automatic transmission fluid inside them.
