could very well be, it screwed up absolutely fine so either it was never tightened properly or i don't know actually

must have happened just after my shower before i went out

thankfully, when i moved in i noticed the overflow wasn't attached so i sorted that out, glad i did or else i'd have a horrible mess to sort

A couple of years ago, I had exactly the same scenario, but on my case the whole valve unit had managed to rotate itself 90° anticlockwise, so the valve was trying to work sideways, which obviously isn't ideal.

I blame the idiot who fitted the cold water tank🤬

Oh hang on, that's me....

Don't you have a fewer grumpy way to spend such a wonderful day?

My father worked at Dagenham in the 60s. He said Fords was always looking to save "a penny "or two. One screw less over millions of cars means more than one would at first think.

I expect that my books, several thousand of them, all my rare VW parts, all the stuff of my memories etc.etc..will probably be binned or 'house cleared'.

The lads have busy lives and won't have time to work out what is valuable and what isn't, especially with the aircraft books some of which cost hundreds, although I suspect EBay might have a few views.

I expect that my MGB, which I've had for nearly 50 years now, will be sold for a pittance as neither of them have ever shown any interest in it.

They're all only really valuable to me, I'll be dead and they'll be busy selling the house so need to get rid of the stuff ASAP.

Expand

Weirdly, this is actually the panacea for me.  I would hate my children to feel encumbered and burdened with my stuff.  So much so that, even at the age of 40, I started furiously chucking stuff away that I like but don't wish to carry through life and see others stuck with deep into theirs.

If I die today, then my father will take custody of the Mini and my Cat.  Other than that, it can all go in the skip.  There are a couple of items that are worth some money (my favourite microphone is worth more than I've paid for a car in the last 10 years) but otherwise - meh.

I think it's good to travel lightly through life, but to each their own.

Ha. Guilty as charged.  But I've never known anyone to not be nerdy about these things.  Albeit, they're actually not my favourite mic of all time.

Anyway, enough nerding!

If ford can save hundreds of thousands by stopping printing a cigarette icon on the cigarette lighter, then Laldi can probably save a decent chunk by operating stores with fewer staff.

Yeeeees…. wich will have bugger all to to do with what you pay for for your carrots, milk and cigs. They’re priced at the highest Laldi can get away with, while not scaring away customers. Whatever they save by enshittifying the customer experience, will profit them and not you.

Fucking hell, are you still on this? Your atrocious spelling and grammar, and total inability to accept that being rushed at the checkout is pretty low down on the "crimes against the person" scale, is really starting to wear thin.

Go and hold up the queue in a different supermarket if it bothers you that much. I'll keep buying my competitively priced quality groceries and enjoying not having to wait an age at the checkout.

Well, in fairness that’s got more to do with EU forcing them into making EVs there isn’t a big enough market for.

TBF, you’ve got a point. I didn’t expect to be spending five minutes of christmas week explaining to people why being treated like cattle by a multinational isn’t in their best interests. But here we are.

(Oh, and you’re a bit cute when you get all angry.)

I'm pretty sure cattle don't get to go home and eat nice biscuits after they've been processed. Are you such a snowflake that you can't hack being treated like a number for a few minutes while you interact with the establishment which provides food for more people every day than you've met in your life? And y'all say my generation are fragile.

It's not just the EU, which other firms also have to deal with, it's their own hubris and the Porsche and Piech families using them as a cash cow to finance their Porsche investment.

I wonder what the alternative actually is though?

I live IN my town.  Think Hugh Grant in Notting Hill.  10 steps away.  The choice is the usual supermarkets, the Eastern European mini-marts or the weekly market.

None of them are perfect. I use Waitrose and M&S because the joyous yellow stickers start coming out about 1700 and it's good value.  I go to the Polish place around the corner because it's exciting and the woman on the till could drain my balls with just a cheeky wink, and the market gets an occasional look in if I've got time to cook something.  But generally the supermarkets are expensive, the mini-marts are laundering money and the market bloke only wants cash.

Sadly, working 50 hours a week (through my own choice) I've no time to join a Kibbutz or run an allotment.  So what's a girl to do?

You do know they aren’t the communist co-operative, right? Other chains with less misanthropist tills exist.

I have asked my daughter (librarian) about this.  She said to me a few weeks ago that she was clearing some stuff out and was going to the book repository.  That may be an option for you.

Haven't been able to find anything about such a thing near me, only something to do with Sunderland University (where she used to be a librarian).

Oh you poor scone. I can't imagine how awful it must be to be forced to have the opportunity to take your time packing your shopping carefully without holding anyone up, rather than the civilised option of shoving everything in your bags hoping that you unloaded it from the trolley in an order that makes sure you don't crush your lovely loaf of sourdough under a bag of beef dripping chips.

You're the one who compared it to communism!

It's been a while since I read Marx, but if I recall under his system there would be no need for a checkout at all? Which, logically, you'd love because you could just pack at your leisure wherever you want!

Quote me on this, and it can be that last word you so desperately crave.

And then go outside and get some fresh air. For everybody’s sake. Pretty fucking please.
