just tried to view the online QH catalogue, but they have been taken over by another company and now you have to log in to view :x

my qh catalogue only goes upto 1966

My Powertrain book gives it as a PSBJ335 which cross references to Quinten Hazell QSJ711S (Which Albert said earlier)

and the cortina ones?

Posted

Cortina Mk III, IV & V QH numbers: Upper QSJ662S, Lower QSJ663S, assuming the S on the end just means they're not handed.

That's impressive work there gents, and thank you so much for being so on-the-ball so quick! OK, so now we know the Cortina bits are different, that's useful; and yes, as soon as this happened I knew doing both sides would make sense. I'll pass on what we have to Andreas so he can try to order the correct bits. Obviously I'll keep you all posted! Many thanks.

Royal 'fkin Mail

i posted someone payment for spares (first class recorded) on Wednesday, should of arrived thursday. he just emailed to say he hadnt received yet. a check on the royal mail website, using the tracking number, reveals; being progressed through our network for delivery

WTF? why did i bother sending the payment first class? i could have walked there and delivered it myself quicker than that.

Timewasters/tyrekickers.

have this bloke emailing/calling about the Escort all weekend, arrange for him to view today, wait around for him... Turns up, prods and pokes, umms and ahhs, decides that it needs the oil changing then tries to haggle on the price (£250 without MOT).. Having told him over the phone the price is none negotiable, I tell him to pass me the keys back. He goes off in a grump.

Don't just renew with the same company. The renewal price is calculated by basically working out the maximum price that they think they can get away with asking, in the hope that you just renew it because they were cheap last year, so everywhere must be just as bad. Phone around, etc.

I've reduced my renewal quotes from £950 to £420 with 3 phone calls, and haven't actually changed insurers for years.

Disagree. Mine came down by £20 this year. Sounds little, but a Comprehensive unlimited premium for a 41 Year old 2.3 Convertible at £115 seems like a good deal to me! (Series 2a Land Rover!! :P

Isn’t recorded just signed for but can take up to 5 days? Special Delivery FTW!

Sound advice, always worth time on the phone. Not going my way this year though with the van policy, cheapest last year was 550 and this year I can't get below 750 with many quoting over a bag ffs. Will try more calling and lies about best price to see what can be done. My current company came in at 900 after 550 last year though I've got them down to match 750 so it's heading the right way. Still, pretty sure I paid less to insure my first car fresh from the test centre and I've now held a licence for 16 years which is currently clean:roll:

I alway shop around for car insurance, in recent years the company I was with will always send me a £300 over the top renewal certificate with a letter explaining that they will help themselves to the money from my bank account, cheeky bastards, I'll tell them where to stick it and find cheaper elsewhere. Strangely, I've just renewed, was with Esure because they were the cheapest a year ago, and their cheeky bastard automatic renewal price is again the cheapest around. I wonder if their old trick of bumping up renewal premiums no longer works, so they now aim to keep hold of their punters?

My bloke has found a pair. Soonest he can have them on the counter is Friday afternoon, if ordered today. Then they need posting to you. Might be a fortnight before you see em. Any good ?

Posted

Albert, thank you for that service, that's most helpful! I've asked someone over here too, and I should know tomorrow what he can get, so if you don't mind, I'll keep your supplier as a backup for the moment. Many thanks for the help!

Up at 4:30 this morning to catch the first flight to Amsterdam - A combination of fog in Holland, technical problems with the plane and a deportee who decided to kick off just as we were due to leave (until "sedated" by his Home Office minders) meant I gave up & offloaded myself at 10:00.

I'm now absolutely shattered, up early again tomorrow and feel like I haven't achieved a bloomin' thing today...what a waste of time

My laptop computer is full of crisps and toast particles. Some of my letters don't work properly. My writing has started to look like it's been taken from an eBay listing posted by An Spazzmo.

At least were you going to Amsterdam, or did you have half a dozen further connections that have to be painfully rescheduled so that you have to do it all over again next week?

Do the Etch-a-Sketch. Turn it upside down and shake it. A lot. Don't do this over your other half's feet or your pillow. Either is a recipe for unhappiness.

Or even better, take as much of the outer casing off as you can easily, then give it a proper blast-through with some canned air. You'll find it's probably clogged with lint too, so it'll run cooler afterwards. If you can't access the inside, you should still be able to get the keyboard off with 2 or 3 screws, as they're supposed to be easily replaceable parts. Also, if you try the above in a brutal way and fubar it, it's not my fault.

Also, as an addendum, stop munching crumby food at the keyboard. Beer and ham/beef only.

I stuck the Alfa up on RR earlier today. Came home this evening and checked to see if anyone had looked at it, there's a message on the thread saying "PM sent". Ooh, thinks I, maybe some interest. So I went to my message inbox, and this is what I read:

"Hi,

Why you so far away?

I'm in Manchester and I rarely get a chance to physically find something like this and drive it home.

I would have bought it."

GR9. That's really constructive. Was it really worth composing a PM to tell me that?

Posted

Replay with something like this.

"It's not me that's far way, it's you. I've been here for years. After all, it's a fucking car. It's designed to move around the country, using a network of "roads" to drive on, for your convenience. Anyway, why would I sell it to a thick cunt like you?"

Or summat like.

Dollywobblers suggestion sounds the most fun.

Due to an earlier AX + HGV altercation in '95, I have staying at Club NHS (drips are free!). The very nice man with the scaples and gown informed me the reason for my abject pain is arthritis. Which would be fine if I wasn't 36. I dare think what my bloody knee looks like under this fuggin bandage, it was like a patchwork quilt when I went in.
